Not at all,i didnt expect anything else tonight, but when hes worked all day and then rushed home and then to manchester a club like cith should be able to cope better than this, oh by the way i am a realist
I meant sour grapes by City.
Sour Grapes.
At least we won when it mattered. Although the result tonight is poor, with the team we put out and the quality still on show from City, what could we expect.
We don’t need this competition, although that in itself isn’t an excuse for getting drubbed.
Missed a trick tonight.
Should have had Watson on bench to come on to rapturous applause in the 90th minute.
Sounds like a shambles. As soon as it was announced the other day that the coaches would leave at 3.30am it started the alarm bells ringing.
If enough people complain who were on those coaches, I’m sure they will have to do something or risk nobody using their services next time. I certainly wouldn’t risk using them the way they have treated fans on this trip.
I think sometimes the club forget that WE are customers and actually pay money for these services. The club should be asking questions as well as threatening to change coach company in future.
Job done.
Set out to save as many of the first team as possible for Sunday and still grab a result. Clean sheet and a good run out for some of the others who are less likely to feature on Sunday.
If we use it like the early rounds of the FA cup, it enables us to bed in our second string.
Suppose it also depends on how we play Sunday. If the players rested don’t do well then Coyle can’t use the excuse of Europe as much as if he’d played a full strength team.
Sounds like something a bitter wife might do if she’s fed up of her husband going to the match.
They also don’t take into consideration that the three home European games are included in our ST priceFair point that Jayt. Also doesn’t mention the premium for watching the current FA cup holders. :woohoo:
I remember Greg Strong and remember playing against him when he was at Hesketh Fletcher.
I also remember him scoring the winner against Latics for Stoke when we had been 2-0 up. :evil:My memory is shocking though. I had a random memory of an ex player showing us his Shirts that he had picked up in his career but hadn’t linked that to the soccer school we went too.
As a 10yr old in 1985 I went to the Bobb Robson Soccer School at Robin Park for a week. Maurice Whittle was our groups coach for the week & our team won the tournament at the end.
I’d never heard of him like but he did bring in all his old shirts for us to train n one day & I wore the shirt of the team he played for in the US so I’m assuming it was that oneIn other Latics related trivia about that week, future Latics legend Greg Strong was on my team
I was also in that team Tyldesley. Had forgotten about Maurice showing us his shirts. Didn’t realise/remember that we had won the tournament at the end. Was that with Neil Critchley and Paul Blenkinship?
Thinking about it, my team may have been runners up – I know that each coach had 2 teams in the tournament & both Maurice’s teams got to the final & played each other. I also remember it going to a penalty shoot out & Greg Strong missed one for us (& cried) but then they missed the next one. How it ended up I don’t remember – I’ll have to check what’s on the trophy that my mum still has!!
The only lads I remember from our year being their were Nidge, Wayne Little, me & Danny Wilson to be honest, can’t remember Blenky or even yourself but my memory isn’t what it once was!! although there were also some lads there from the year above
I definitely remember Greg Strong and being shown shirts by someone who had played football (Maurice). Maybe because we were in the same year but different classes we might have played in separate teams.
Seems a zillion years ago now. Mr Lowe sneaking a quick cig in the changing rooms before P.E rings a bell.

What about arriving at the stadium in style?
I think Whelan’s playing a game of chicken .I think the Venkys are more qualified at that than Whelan.
Surely one of the issues here is why people feel the need to drink copious amounts of alcohol, in order to enjoy a footballing day out? Is this a cultural thing, or is it a case of not wanting to stand out by not being the boring one who doesn’t drink.
I like the odd drink but never felt the need to follow the crowd and copy what seems to be the norm.
Considering Ian Harte went in with studs showing earlier, and connected at shoulder height with only a yellow card to show for it, I’d say a yellow would have been more appropriate.
