How does that compare in terms of total cost to last season?

If memory serves me right, Lyndsey appearing in the local and national press was spreading the message that football was not safe to watch due to the violence whereas RL was a safe family environment (that’s a laugh). I also seem to remember the Wigan RL match day programme regally putting the football club down.

If memory serves me right, Lindsay refused permission for a Wigan v Liverpool cup tie to be played at a large, but unsegregated ground at a time when violence at football matches was very much in existance.

Whilst I didnt like him, and do not agree with his “backyard” comment, I do agree that having thousands of unsegregated supporters around Central Park would have been a bad thing – particularly when it was less than 6 months after the Hillsborough disaster, and at a time when crowd safety was very very paramount.

So, if Wimbledon had moved to play in Wigan, rather than Milton Keynes, you’d have been happy about it and expected Uncle Dave to welcome another football club to the town with open arms?

I cant recall Springfield Borough being there for the minimum 10 years that the other dodgy hairstyle said at around the 4.00 mark. I’d say he was the Gobshite. Lindsay was chairman of Wigan and he was speaking from their interests – what else would you expect him to say?

Wigan Athletic win one of the worlds biggest sporting occasions and get relegated in the same season making history.

Wigan lad(and latics fan) David Lynn making a name for himself on the massive US golf tour and earning over $1 million alone in his last 2 events.

Sir Bradley Wiggins, an adopted Wiganer (and Warriors fan), winning an Olympic Gold and the worlds greatest bike race.

Does this all mean that our lodgers are the now only the 4th(yes fourth) popular sport in their own back yard ?

Possibly, but the signs as you enter Wigan will need a bit of modification come 6pm on Sunday. Home of Championship football doesn’t quite have the same ring to it.

I cant disagree there. You have undoubtedly made history world-wide.

No team has won the FA Cup and been relegated in the same season before.

    Aye.

It’ll be almost like the M62 pit village souperdouperleague fixtures, so more away fans should be able to travel, as all the excuses for not travelling no longer exist.

Doncaster Belles away on a Tuesday night in December should be a must.

It’s not like nipping 20 miles down the road every fortnight ya numbskull

No, that’s next season isn’t it.

    No Monday night games
    No Sunday 4pm games
    No £40+ tickets
    Hardly any London trips
Half of the games within 100 miles.

3,000 at all those local away games then. No excuses please.

    Enjoy your party on Monday.

Whats his stats in his 151 league games as manager?

in reply to: Sorry to See You Go #113525
I’d say you were the one hurting as a result of seeing there weren’t the swathes of empty seats at Wembley that you’d hoped for.

Only thanks to Man City managing to shift tickets for the lower tier from the corner flag to the halfway line, which were supposed to be for Wigan fans.

    in reply to: Segregation #113485

Because Wigan didnt sell 3,000 tickets. Why should Arsenal leave 2500 empty seats when they can sell them?

in reply to: Sorry to See You Go #113470

Oh dear – someone’s hurting this morning!

On the bright side, the CCC is very northern-dominated, so you and the other 19500 who couldnt be arsed to go last night might get out of your armchairs and go and cheer your side on.

Fair play to those who were in the visitors end last night in fancy dress – as Arsenal fans.

    See Ya!

Does that go for the 10,000 plastic tw*ts who pretended they supported Wigan on Saturday?

in reply to: Survival or not? #111633

I reckon that even last nights result wont mean Villa will be safe come 19 May and its going to be down to that game. I do think that Villa will only require a point to survive, whereas you’ll need a win.

Tonight I’m going to stick £20 on Wigan staying up if the odds are better than 3-1.

our price has come in then…was odds ON last week…..we still have to play 4 of the teams mentioned in that odds list……..interesting mr bond

Sunderland also have 4 teams in that list to play, and they are 4 points ahead of Wigan, which explains why they are 3.5 times less likely to be relegated than Wigan according to the bookies.

    in reply to: mackems #105950

You are not kidding! Fortunately, after Man Utd & Chelsea, we have Newcastle, Everton, Villa, Stoke & Southampton, before finishing off at Spurs.

Frankly, if we cannot get another 7 points from those fixtures then we deserve to go down. I think 38 points will be enough, as I cant see QPR, Reading or Wigan getting that many.
