Which makes the “official” attendance of over 19,000 an even bigger lie.
The club must count those unavailable seats at each end of the Boston Stand in their attendance, in addition to the ST holders and freebies that didnt bother due to the weather.
FACT—Only non-Wigan Athletic supporters actually give a flying about crowds. Have you not realised that yet.
Apart from 35 yrs WAFC or whatever his name is – see post above mine. Oh, and Rodders/SDW. He likes to talk about crowds when it suits.
An easy one would be the 13,000 that was on against Wigan (with 2,000 Latics) in the late 80’s – this was in a ground that had boasted a 75,000 record crowd. I don’t need a calculator to work out that %.And the capacity of the ground in the late 80s had been cut to around 20,000. I was there too that day sat in the old clock stand amongst the 13,974 (almost 70% full) to see a 4-1 win for my tin pot adopted club in their one and only season in the 3rd tier. I was also on the mudbank for the infamous sliding competition for the return game when 4,000 Sunderland fans packed into Springfield Park.
Have a good Sunday!
Who’s this Whealen fella? I thought it was owned by David Whelan?
Here’s some more FACTS for you:
1. 17505 is 35.72% of the capacity (49,000).
2. 8199 is 32.57% of the capacity (25,168).
3. Of that 17505, over 17,000 were home supporters. The visitors brought less than 300. As there are 46,000 seats available for home supporters, the home support was just over 37%.
4. Of that 8199, approx 3,000 were from Bournemouth. The home support managed to fill approx 25% of their 20,000 seats.
5. Your stadium was “officially” 77% full yesterday thanks to 5,000+ visiting supporters filling 100% of their allocation. And of course adding on all those ST holders and freebie’s who didnt show up.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend
19K+?
Are you seriously telling me that the huge gaps at the ends of the Boston Stand (as well as plenty throughout), a West Stand that is only populated in the centre, and a half-full (at best) South Stand comes to 14500?
17K tops today.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

SDW and his mum have just been told that people who were born in Wigan do actually move away and live elsewhere:
I’ve driven up from my place for the weekend, and was glad I didn’t go via stoke, as I believe the a50 was atrocious.
If the game gets cancelled I suppose I could go into town and buy the new warriors shirt!.
The city of sunderland has a population of about 280,000And the borough of wigan has a population of about 300,000.
So what exactly was your point?
If Sunderland have sold their allocation then all I can assume is that many Sunderland fans cant afford two games in a week because there were fuck all on against Bolton !If 17,505 equates to fuck all, then you are correct Mr Moss. Using the same theory, is your average attendance at the DW each season close to fuck all?
So when does the chubster league start then?
You tell me. You’re the guru of all things fat.
Will I be able to spot you on Saturday mixed in with all those stick-thin ‘tics fans? Well, apart from the fat lass who sits towards the front of ES1 or 2 near the exit – she’s a big ‘un!
Aye – By my reckoning, that’ll be close to £80,000 going into his war chest, and thats before the takings from all the pies and beer!
yea, would prefer the match against United as the club have a good record against them. Would like to make my first trip to the stadium more memorable and will be awesome if Wigan win that match!Wigan dont have a good record actually against Man Utd – 1 win in 16 meetings, so save some of your holiday money and buy a much cheaper ticket for the FA Cup Tie on the Saturday. That wont be as hard to get a ticket for and you’ve probably got a better chance of seeing a Wigan win, to make your first ever trip to the DW a memorable one!
Got your ticket for the big game against Bradford yet? I hear its a sell-out – Well the away end is.
Remember when you are crowing about your massive attendance that 5000 of the fans have not come to support Wigan.
5500 Empty seats again yesterday – poor show.
Migrants are fine, as long as they contribute to the UK economy, not take from it. I have no problem with people coming, using our hospitals, schools etc as long as they pay tax in this country.
To those who are completely against it – think what the premier league would look like without all the migrants on the pitch….
FFS here we go, Has the pathetic souper douper league started already. I see yet another club have been given a winding up order (salford city cougars)………
Football can survive without “migrants” as you call them….can souper de douper yorky league…………NO………….struggling to survive as it is now…….
go back to rlfans.communist[/quote]

calm down mutty, it’s only the biggest sport on earth. Nothing for you to “worry” aboutMy my, its been a while!
I see we have a new kid on the block with a monster chip on his shoulder, together with a few familiar faces. How is life at the DW these days? Are you going to wait until March for a home victory this year?
Hows the tickets shifting for the Everton game? I hear there isnt a Buy One Get One Free Offer on, unlike the Fulham game.
And Sudworth – good to see you at the SOL – shame the others seemed to have got lost somewhere on the way up.
