£100k for winning it, plus 33% of TV and ticket revenue from the final itself. Potentially £1m.

It was worth £1m to Sunderland when they lost to Portsmouth in front of 85,000 at Wembley.
It was worth £100,000 + Tv money when they won it last season in front of 0 fans at Wembley. So the money available will be somewhere in between those figures, depending on how many tickets are sold for the final.

Bad night at the office made worse by an ex scoring a hat-trick when he should have been sent off for a disgusting studs up shin-high challenge. However, this is what happens when your squad is decimated and you try to be the club that sets the example regarding crying off. Shouldnt have played on Saturday and shouldnt have played tonight.

Christ knows what XI will be out against Accrington on Saturday, but I for one think we should pull the plug on it now as a side with players recalled from loan at Notts Co, Tranmere & Harrogate isnt going to win many games.

How come the 2nd Rovers goal didn’t go to VAR ? unlike West Ham’s first goal today ?

Are we playing with different rules ?

Yes. VAR only in use at premier League home games in FA Cup.

Couldnt declare the crowd as >10K as no Covid protocols were in place. There must have been a hell of a lot of walk-up purchases, because the club had been promising to give supporters plenty of time to get a LFT or get their NHS App ready, yet there was nothing on the official sites.

It certainly buggered up my guess the gate entry as the sold seats page was awash with available seats on Friday morning!

…and I thought it was only the Egg men who fiddled the attendances! :good:

    Risk v Reward.

Probably better putting half the first team out against Oldham and if they come through unscathed, do the same with Blackburn. However lose a couple through injury at Oldham and I’d be sticking the kids out on the Saturday.

Not expecting any help from the EFL with the backlog of League fixtures.

Its not within their gift. The start/end dates of each season are decided by the clubs in that division, just as the decision to curtail the 19/20 season was made by the 23 clubs in L1. This still rankles with the likes of Sunderland, Ipswich, Peterborough, who saw Wycombe & Fleetwood lead a campaign to curtail the season, yet then be happy to play in a promotion play-off once they’d come up with a formula to get them in the top 6. Similarly Tranmere got relegated as a result of the bottom group ganging up on them.

Without sounding too harsh, no club in the top 8 is going to support an extension that only benefits Wigan, and no club at the bottom will support an extension that only benefits Wimbledon. Most are not still in the FA Cup, so come 8 Jan, some will have played 26 games, some 25, some 24 and Wigan still on 21.

Perhaps its time for the ownership to decide whether to go on a cup run, win the EFL trophy, or concentrate on the league.

I’m not surprised Accrington have suddenly got a bout of covid. They’ve been playing through at the moment and suddenly as they are about to face a fresh Wigan side, they think “fuck this – we’ll have a week off like everyone else”.

I wonder how many of these L1 and L2 clubs will be calling off their money-spinning FA Cup ties next week?

The clubs need to take a stance, like they did with curtailing the season and decide whether to play or not play, and if not play, for how long and how they are going to get the fixtures in. Its in the hands of the 24 Chief Execs of the L1 clubs to get round a table and make a bloody decision.

My preference is for a two week break effective 2 January, where players do not go anywhere other than a vaccination centre, then come back for games on 15 January as planned. Only planned games lost are 5 January fixtures which get changed to the first weekend in May which becomes the end of the regular season. No games will be called off during international weekend in March and no players will be released for friendlies.

Its getting ridiculous now. Clubs are calling games off left right and centre citing covid and an inability to raise 13 players from their combined first, reserve, U23, U18 squads, getting a little rest, then coming out refreshed against other sides who have bent over backwards to raise a side.

A two-week circuit break is needed for all clubs to give them a chance to isolate for 10 days (and get jabbed), have a bit of light training and come back with a full round of midweek fixtures on 11/12 January where teams play, even if its the kids or the coaching staff that take the field.

Obviously, there are a few clubs who will have to play an FA Cup game a couple of days before, but as most clubs field squad men these days, it shouldnt have a huge impact on the league programme.

In his prime it’s Morsy all day long, although he looked a desperate cheater on Saturday.
