Wycombe are the masters of shithousery in this division. If they get ahead expect immediate timewasting, feigning injuries & arguing with officials at every opportunity.

Please beat them, and if you can hammer them, all the better.

Nobody has a more phenomenal record of getting out of league 1 than Wigan Athletic

Although Bolton are quite good too but that was by going down :yahoo:

They’ve done it 3 times in 6 years – (2013/14, 2017/18, 2019/20), four times this century and 6 times overall. I believe Wigan have done it three times in their entire history (four if you are counting relegations).

Thanks for taking 3 points off a side who Sunderland see as one of the teams you need to finish higher than to get promoted – they have a phenomenal record at getting promoted from L1.

    The defending champion says 8849

Very true CW. Wyke doesn’t have McGeady to put the chance on a plate this season so someone else will have to set them up for him. Perhaps Jones once he’s match fit will be the one, but not to the extent of last year which was a fluke season for Wyke. 9 league goals in 51 appearances over the previous two seasons and a career history of less than 1 in 3 prior to last season.

If you are after a left back then Denver Hulme is out of contract, but I’m not sure if he was one of Max Power’s drinking buddies!

That’s a quality signing. No doubt mutty will come on and tell us he’s no good.

Missing – One Charlie Wyke. Last seen in the pocket of a 17 year old making his league debut.

It looks like many on Latics Speyk also disagree with Stupid Stu.

He’s a reasonable signing for a club aspiring to improve on their 20th place finish one point above the relegation zone in the 3rd division.

And the sensible, grown up chat is ruined by the usual suspect. :negative:

That sounds like the deal to me. I suspect the idea is to get more SC members to come earlier and spend more time in their club, with the extra takings from 1:30-3pm covering the 25% discount prior to 1:30pm.

I dare say I will for three reasons:

    1. It takes a lot of effort on your part and others should support it.
    2. I still havent received my prize for the 19/20 season. :yahoo:
    3. According to some knuckle draggers, I’m obsessed about your crowds! :-(

Thanks Jay, but I’m in the process of helping my daughter move house over the next two weekends. All being well, I will be at the DW for the return fixture.

The previous owner still has a stake, which means he would have to put in a percentage of any funding. Its common knowledge that he was a chancer who got Ellis Short to wipe the debts then sell the club to him for a small price that was partly funded by the parachute payments in the expectation that we’d get instant promotion and he could flip us for a profit. Two years’ later, preciding over the worst league position ever and after he’s flogged everything of any worth, he gets to the point where he has to sell up and still expects to receive more than he paid, then settles for his money back and to retain a % stake (which equates to a profit)

I suspect that the majority shareholder (who is loaded) isnt prepared to fund 100% of the expenditure whilst Stuart Donald is still stinking the place out and would be entitled to a cut of any future profits.

In terms of Wyke – Wigan offered him more money than Sunderland and that why he left. Its very telling that despite scoring 30 goals, not a single Championship club made a move for him despite him being available to them for free.

The lad from Rangers is a useful player, but he went missing for many games and didnt rip the league up.

The signings we have made, whilst not spectacular, are pretty much all players who are dropping down a level to play in L1, and thats an improvement on signing players from Plymouth, Walsall & Forest Green.

in reply to: Just read some interesting posts on Wigan Vital #193028

I’m not sure what folk on there are getting their knickers in a twist about. The crowdfunder stated that they any monies left after the primary aim of saving the club would be spent through the Community Trust. They appear to be doing just that.

It sure has brought out the worst in people.
