Can tell I didn’t watch it

    How come?

Good idea. It would give Bullshit and his mates something to shout at every week.

Wouldnt those be employed by the stadium management company (ok, I know that its the same owner) in preparation for rugby returning to the DW in a few weeks’ time and the additional workload in turning the stadium round? It was rumoured that one of the reasons the DW wasnt used by superleague for their “hub” games last year was that the administrators had binned off so many groundstaff that those remaining could barely cope with football fixtures, let alone rugby games.

Short-sightedness by Admin IMHO, as the RFL would have obviously paid for the use of the stadium, which would have added to the coffers.

Next week on the intelligence of Latics fans:

“I’d rather go bust than be owned by Ian Lenegan”

It would be a repeat – Bickymon has been saying that on Latics Speyk since mid-July.

Remind me what Saint Dave has done to help save your club since 1 July 2020….

Takeover to go through this week?

Episode 34. Nothing happens. Rather like watching the BBC Test card. Tune in next week to episode 35….

plus we will be gaining a game in hand through not playing Saturday

Your game in hand is against a side who, if they go up, have to give you a large payment in lieu of Billy Gigg, the damp squib. Bit of a dillema there – beat them and increase your chances of losing a months’ funding.

If your previous owners were in situ, it’d be a good one for them to put another bet on.

We definitely didn’t miss our own mud patch. The better standard of pitch allowed the ball to flow, which suited our runners.

But but but its the fat sweaty egg-chasing gravy-stained cuckoo lodgers playing their tin-pot sport that ruins the pitch…..

Afternoon of 1 March – Club wont rush about a new appointment.

Morning of 2 March – Welcome Paul Cook.

I’d be interested to see how quickly they move if they had to make a snap decision!

Its gotten beyond ridiculous now. Even if £10m is required as proof of funding, then thats a total outlay of £13m.

Other clubs have been bought and sold recently for far more than that.

in reply to: EFL knew before it happened? #191268

I’m struggling to imagine why someone would part with approx £40m only to put it into admin with a sale price of £3m the next day.

I wonder if the bookies paid out over there…

Well done – even sweeter as it was Jailbird Joey’s first game!

Now please do us a favour and back it up with a win at Peterborough on Saturday. Their pitch currently has serious drainage issues, so it should be like a home game for you ;-)

in reply to: (Not) taking the knee #190995

I see now that we have stopped doing it again, after going back to it after a break.

I think it is mandatory for the Premier League and optional for the EFL clubs unless they are on Sky Sports when they have to do it. If you see Wigan take the knee only occasionally then it will probably mean the other club are still adopting it every game.

As for its relevence and whather its made a difference – I would say it hasnt and the online trolling has got worse. Whether it is the boredom of lockdown or the constant stream of BLM and race issues being pushed at the public or a mixture of both is up for debate. I was listening to a podcast the other day where the feeling was that the sheer number of CCTV cameras have driven racial abuse of footballers from the stands to social media and we will still be talking about it in 30 years time.

Personally, I feel that the run up to that referendum has emboldened the racists in the UK and the result has made them think in their warped minds that they have a letitimacy to abuse foreigners.
