N’Zogbia was absolutely immense today, he is twice as good as Valencia was and thats being generous to Valencia.

We should keep hold of Hugo for sure, who would we replace him with? we need to start holding on to our best players, we need to stop being bullied by the bigger boys and have a go.

Made my day that today because I will admit I had a bad feeling about the result today and pictured us in the drop zone and all the doom and gloomers spouting the same old s..t again. Well done lads.

As for Thomas, now that was well and truly stupid, wtf was he thinking?

Caldwell and Mcarthy did well Mcarthy is going to be a good un quality finish for his goal.

Swap Figgy for Bale and keane, as spurs want Figs, Bale will be more than a good replacement. Shola Ameobi at the barcodes is banging them in at the min and is better than what we have at the moment, give them Scotland and say £1mil.

    Faz,
It was in either last week or the week befores Obby, He said some of the lads that fight in the UFC are on £300,000 a fight and he wants a piece of it, He thinks he could stand up with anyone in the cage but needs to work on his wrestling and ground work so he is training at royces gym (I had to laugh at that statement). I think he has one more fight on his current contract and then it’s UFC, fair play to him i think he should make as much money as he can before it realy is too late, genuinley hope he does well but can’t see it. He lso said in the interview that his new Gym and training centre could be open for xmas.
I too thought it was strange that Dana White would sign someone straight from kickboxing but when you think he was world champ for 15 years he deserves his chance.
Oh and well done to Mike Bisping and Ross Pearson last night in manchester.

    in reply to: JCL? #12970

NOT A JCL: Those who have supported from Non-League.
Those who witnessed the climb up the leagues.
Those who have supported from childhood.
Any kids who go to Latics now. (They are just very lucky)

I think it works something like that.[/quote]

good post vat, although i would say the kids that go now are unlucky as they never saw their teem rise through the leagues like me and many other lucky latics fans, i would say i am also a bit unlucky because only being 23 i never got to see the best non league teem ever and the stories my dad tells me about them days make me think i wish i was there, i wish i could say that i have watched my teem in the Lancashire combination and the NPL and have seen them top the premier league. I can remember as far back as the grahamme Barrow days, i was going a bit before that but can’t remember it. Its a shame for the kids as they will probably endure seeing us slide back down the leagues at some point, hopefully not for a long time. It’s like I know i’m a propper fan and as dedicated as the rest on here but i envy those that were there at Matlock town and stafford Rangers. If it wernt for those that braved them days whelan might never of even had chance to “save us”.

in reply to: Question for the older supporters #12035
Port Petroleum NEVER sponsored the shirts.

They DID have the logo on Junior Latics strips, and managing director John James was a regular match sponsor in the 80’s early 90’s.

Thanks vat, thought i could remember some sort of story my old man said about Neil Fitzhenry and the shirts, can’t remmeber what it was about mind.

in reply to: Question for the older supporters #12032

in reply to: Question for the older supporters #12029

why are none of the kits sponsered by port petrolium on the list.
(I am only 23 and THINK a vaguely remember my dad strutting bowt in a shirt sponsered by PP, am a wrong?) Think we had a red, blue, white and maybe a yellow one. Can someone either confirm or correct me.

There have been no “wholescale changes” to the back 5 as it is identical to the one that has been there since about January 2008,
yet we’ve gone from having one of the best defensive records outside of the top 4 to the 4th worst in the division.

If Bobby is asking them to play a completely different style then it quite clearly isn’t working & he needs to realise we don’t have the players capable of “playing their way out from the back” & change his methods. How often does he have to stick his hand in a fire before he realises it burns?

Completly agree with you about the defence, I have said before that when Bruce left we lost Brambles mentor, and we are missing his wisdom of defence because no matter what anyone says about him he was an awesome defender and cleary had an impact on the defenders at our club. We should apoint someone to the coaching staff with experiance of defending in the top flight. I think the problem is the two fullbacks being caught out of position too often trying to attack.

in reply to: whelan on king #11978
Yep he scored a penalty at Blackburn. A game we lost So his contribution i.e. Goals???, as his agent said kept us in the Prem. Didn’t have any bearing.

We would have saved loads of cash if we had just signed that beachball, its scored as many.
