If anyone does bother to go we are running coaches as we did for the semi final and final, the difference being it looks like the hire cost will be cheaper than the inflated prices for the FA Cup games, intitial inquiries suggest the maximum cost per seat will be £27.50, and with a little luck and the right numbers booking, even a little less.
As we did for the previous trips there will be a pre-booked stop for a meal, this time breakfast, again the trip will be used to raise money for the Joseph’s Goal Charity hoping to add to the near £2000 raised by generous Wiganers on those trips.
The coaches will be again family groups, no alcohol format.
Please PM me for further details.
Do I get mates rates?
too many trips to Wembley!!I bet nobody ever thought we would have that problem! :cheer:
For 4 seasons people have said we are a definite for relegation it happens on the fourth time of asking and they start jumping around saying I told you so.
Comedy gold.
Weregoingtobarnsley got it spot on didnt he !
A polite bit of advice…The length of your comments are starting to remind me of a certain clubland entertainer who has gone to ground lately ! Try and be a little bit more concise as the attention span of some on here is akin to that of a goldfish ! ;)It has occurred to me I have been waffling a bit recently….
I am suffering from full blown withdrawal symptoms now which I fear the fixture list released tomorrow wont help at all :(
If Coyle can just make a signing it will be the fix I need to keep going.
There isn’t room in a modern team for a specialist player – like a conventional fullback, a pure winger or a goal poacher.Of course there is.
There are a range of different forwards throughout football and recognising their strengths is the first step to getting the best out of them.
Kone would track back to receive the ball while laying it off allowing Mcmanman and Maloney to convert from a midfield position to a forward.
Its something Martinez had previously tried with Scotland & Moreno which failed terribly.
He recognised Rodallega is not the man for that role so tried to play him as an inside forward (sorry for the championship manager talk).
To simply dismiss the fact that different players offer different roles and tactics available to a team is naive.
I think if you had Kone playing a similar role and Boselli playing off him with Mcmanman and Jeany B hammering balls into the box in a conventional 442 with wingers then you would see the best of him.
Kone had to work so hard for his 12 goals it was ridiculous at times!
The only two times I can remember having any real width in our team under Martinez is when the 3-4-3 formation took everyone by surprise and Boyce and Jeany B could hammer balls in for fun and when we started playing Mcmanaman who likes to run to the line and hit one in the box.
I think Martinez was thinking there was enough players in midfield who can hit a killer through ball to utilise his good movement off the ball and see him through on goal.
Sadly the only player who has that sort of vision for us is Gomez who probably would have been hung in Wigan town center if it had gone to a vote.
He could wait 5 minutes to get changed into it could he!
I hope Whelan told him to wear a suit on match days.
This is not Bolton now son you are representing us on the European stage!
I was disappointed at first.
As I have said I wanted to go down the continuity route that Swansea took.
However I think since Coyle has been appinted everything he has said is absolutely spot on!
Including that he should be judged on what he does at Wigan Athletic and not his past.
His first test will be who he can bring in before the season starts and I for one am eager to see who he recruits.
If he gets the balance right of keeping certain players e.g. Maloney and Kone ,uses the funds from a McCarthy sale to add a few more and a couple of clever loan signings then that is the best I can hope for from any manager!
All this never going to a game while he is in charge though is absolutely embarrassing.
It reminds me of the Stoke fan I was laughing at circling the Brittania with Hughes out on the side of his wagon and pains me to think other teams will read this garbage and think of us in the same manner.
And the theory of him beating all these world class managers to the post is utter tosh!
McClaren was my first choice but quite frankly he has a 50/50 record of getting it right.
Mulensteen and Phelan both worked at united so they must be good has to be the stupidest thing I have heard people say throughout this whole saga! I mean really what does that count for other than they have had an easier job than anyone in the premier league for over a decade!
History tells us that coaches and players who have left united and become a success are the exception and not the rule!
I can honestly say I was never as excited about any of the fixture releases in all our years competing in the PL as I am about tomorrow.
I good dose of not being up against it constantly is definitely what I need!
With the way some of our supporters have reacted to Coyle’s appointment, I think the Jocelyn Brown song ‘Somebody Else’s Guy’ might be appropriate.
Or
“Go on now go
Walk out the door
Just turn around now
‘Cause you’re not welcome anymore…”
Were’nt you the one who said Al Habsi is s**t?
Did you think he would fumble?
Go back to Oman and die?
Eat humble pie. We did not survive.
We would like to be in the premiership are you willing to give it a try?
You might be getting a PM from either Jonny or Griff asking to use that ! ;)
Is this the new book? I am intrigued…
If only one of them ran a blog by which I could keep updated to the progress and content of said book
Just get shut and bring someone in who’ll actually be here to play. When it comes to biggest waste of money we ever spent he comes a close 2nd to the £450,000 we paid for Stefan Bidstrup,,, and just to remind those who have forgotten , best box to box player in Europe.Agahowa, Marlon King & Jason Koumas to name three.
Think the who was a worse signing than Boselli discussion has been done though.
I just honestly think playing alongside someone like Kone in a front 2 with wingers he would be able to convert the chances that he gets.
Workhorse Kone and Goal Poacher Boselli.
Alejandro Sabella, the Argentina national team manager, prefers Di Santo.Boselli – 4 caps 1 goal
Di Santo – 3 caps 0 goalBoselli pips it as per his international credentials.

Chumbawamba
Just thought that could of been a great song to drop a hint at Scharner last season…
“Scharner falls down but he gets up again you’re never gunna keep him down”
Taken Take from his twitter account:
Ok so it is the ropiest translation ever but here goes:
With regard to the questions that are rising me, for much much less of the value that he says transfer market, it is possible to do the transfer.
Personally I would like to keep him as I think he always lacked clear cut chances under Roberto.
Just glancing at this I can see that the words possible ( Posible ) and rising ( creciente ) are not in his text ?
Se puedo hacer is roughly can do or can be done.
Like I said its very ropey but translation isn’t a case of swap each word for another Phil and I can’t speak Spanish.
