Now that is a good deal :)
save on shirts can have Roberto”s RMI posted that days ago ;)
Source?
Maybe, just maybe, things aren’t as rosey in reality between Bob and DW as the PR would have us believe
I really don’t know – but the thought has crossed my mind
What PR? There is only Whelan saying anything at all. And you should take most of what he says with a pinch of salt.[/quote]
Not entirely – Bob also comes out with stuff about how he and DW get on so well, and it’s great to have a Chairman like him. And DW says how Bob’s got a job for life, and they are honest and open with each other.
The papers then pick up on this and suddenly we have this super double act that would make Romeo and Juliet look amateurs.
But when push comes to shove, Roberto starts to look elsewhere, and as soon as he does, literally as soon as he does, DW says “well, he can’t do the job, thank you, next candidate please..”
All is not well, I tell you.

My wife has a list as long as your arm with stuff to do !!!!!How do you know how long my arm is?
:)
What do you mean there’s no football?
I saw him early in the season for the Development Squad. I recall he looked quite good in that setting, above the others, but I can’t really give much more of an opinion, I’m afraid.
A much used genre, but I must say this is good :)
Hi Ron
I think Jason has clarified it.
Wigan Athletic is now owned by a company Wigan Athletic Holdings, who also own the DW Stadium. So effectively the company that owns Latics owns the stadium. Because of the way company law works it is never going to be the case that Wigan Athletic per se own the stadium, just as I suspect most clubs are in fact subsidiaries now of a bigger business group.
For all practical purposes though the rugby team are rent payers to Wigan Athletic Holdings. They have no part in Wigan Athletic Holdings.
What double posts? ;)
He has European experience, played the 3-5-2 football back in his boro days and the dutch club. For me I would take him.
All joking aside, EL, I was actually thinking the same once you think about it.
He is an experienced and succesful manager (his England reign was hit by having a pretty poor bunch of players to pick from, and the umbrella saga was maybe ill-judged in a macho world, but hardly a hanging offence).
United were very succesful when he coached them, Middlesbrough reached a European final with him as manager, and Twente won their first Eredivisie title with him in charge.
The main criticism seems to be a dull and defensive style, but maybe we need to tighten our defence.
On reflection maybe not the worst call.
Nooooooo.
Can you imagine him trying to do a Wigan accent? :woohoo:
the dutchman steve mclaren is the new bookies favourite at 3/1.. i think owen coyle is more likely..di matteo for me…16/1 shot.
That’s strange because every betting site I’ve looked at have Meulensteen as favourite.
What’s your source for that?
…. nothing like the subject name suggests, and its a shame none of the mod’s have picked up on this!!I did actually and it was a close call. I decided to let it go, maybe wrongly. As you say it seems inappropriate for a thread title, but as we got accused of over-moderating a few weeks ago it has got by.
What I will do is lock the thread so it will slip down the list. If anyone wants to post more on the subject of losing players to wherever Roberto goes then please feel free to do so under a more suitable heading.
