The just left Wigan injury hoodoo returns !
I remember a number of years ago on of the Dad’s Army stars died aged 80 something, and the Daily Mail’s header to the story was “Dad’s Army Hoodoo strikes again” :P

I must admit I never thought I’d be as riveted to watching shooting and canoing (not at the same time you understand – although that WOULD be worth watching) as I was this afternoon

There are other teams playing besides GB (although you wouldn’t know it from the TV coverage).
Sunday’s game between New Zealand and Egypt was brilliant. Both teams going all out to score. End to end stuff. The crowd (about 50,000 for that one) were roaring on both teams, as to be honest no-one really cared that much one way or the other who won. Great stuff. The best 1-1 draw I have ever seen – genuinely.
And yet the Daily Mail reporting on the second game (Brazil v Belarus), which was entertaining too, said it was preceded by “a drab 1-1 draw”. Just proves the journalists really don’t go to the games they report on.
I remember a neighbour of ours once yelling at his son “you’re a congenital idiot!”
I don’t think he would understand why I found that amusing.

Sure you read it right? It was £3.20 at Old Trafford. I thought there were set prices.
Edit> Actually that was for 330ml, but that doesn’t make £9.20 a pint.
I’ve now watched 8 of the 16 teams in the tournament, and can honestly say that GB were the team that impressed me least.
Mind you, I’ll be seeing Spain on wednesday before they catch their plane back home. Now that’s a surprise!!

He’s not there now – so why carry on disliking them?
Don’t get me wrong I dislike rugby league because I find it has become boring to watch.
They may of course be right, but isn’t it funny how message boards (including this one) become full of “he isn’t any good anyway” as soon as someone is looking to leave.
It often pays to look back a few months while games are being played to see what posters say about the players (although that wouldn’t really work here would it? :huh: )
When I saw the title of the thread I immediately thought Thierry Henry’s freekick.
But see that meatnprater has started us off with that one. I’m sticking with it though.
