2000 against Gillingham
The old mailing list, them were the days !
The grammer and spelling on this bored is shocking sometime’s. But don’t worry Garswood: your usually one off the best.I would of known that
A forum for opinions? Hmmm.
Now that’s a concept worth considering.
But I don’t think it would work. :(

Ah – I knowed their woz a reason

He looked like the biggest la-zoom ever to have donned a football kit.
Oh don’t start that, JR. We’ve got quite enough with who was the worst manager? ;)
Personally I thought “a tram in a similar predicament to us” provided a much better mental image ;)

It’s not someone above him, but alongside.
Bruce had Black, Jewell had Hutchins. Many managers have a trusted number 2 alongside them who provides good advice.
I’m afraid the problem in my opinion is not that Martinez isn’t good enough, but the support isn’t.
I was stewarding in the tunnel at Springfield, and in one match one of my colleagues said, fairly quietly, “Oh come on, Rogers”. At the time Deehan was under some, shall we say, pressure.
Deehan turned to us, and started a foul-mouthed rant how we needed to get behind the team, we were there for the club (technically incorrect, as stewards we were supposed to treat everyone equally) and so on and so forth.
When he had finished my colleague said “we’ll be here longer than you”.
He was right. :)
I remember John Benson (RIP) came in for loads of criticism during his tenure, and how many remember that Bruce Rioch actually managed us within living memory?
For me though the worst has to be Kenny Swain. The name itself became a bye-word for poor quality.
Kenny Swain BTW is the current England U16 Manager so can’t be that bad ;) (thankfully that era is before my time)The role of England U-16 “manager” is in fact a coaching role. He doesn’t have to manage players on a day-to-day basis. He was, and obviously still is, a fine coach. It’s the managerial side he was poor at.
Eric Black, for example, is a very good coach – it doesn’t mean he would be a good manager.
On average attendances the Championship os the 11th best attended football league in the world, with an average attendance of 17,388.
The top ten were:
Bundesliga 42,101 Premier League 35,283 La Liga 29,128 Primera Division Mexico 26,722 Serie A 24,031 Primera Division Argentina 19,843 La Ligue 19,650 Eredivisie 19,116 J-League 18,428 MLS 17,872 Hardly the greatest financial catastrophe!
By the way – you can compare a whole variety of sports here ;)

Perhaps this explains where the transfer money etc goes:
Disclaimer and word of explanation:
By the way, I was just looking at the Daily Mail for research purposes, having once seen someone reading it when I was much younger. I came across the site while browsing the internet, I don’t normally read it, and I certainly have no copies saved on my hard drive.Perhaps HE personally is losing money. Perhaps he has been putting loads of money in to the club rather than pocketing all the transfer fees as some on here would have you believe.
“Ok, so the general consesus seems to suggest that Martinez should go ”
I don’t think that is the general consensus. Maybe on here but who, that matters in the club, gives a gnat’s f@rt what the keyboard warriors on here think?
There is disquiet amongst the fans, but people want some change in tactics – and actually if you listen to people’s opinions at the match everyone has a different expert opinion of whatthat change should be anyway. Most fans know the reality of who we are, and don’t think we should be challenging Man City.
I don’t think there is a “Martinez Out” feeling – if there was where are the banners, where are the chants, where are the protests?
