They say the old ones are the best.

          This just disproves the theory.

I really don’t understand managers who don’t take competitions seriously.

Europa Cup is my particular annoyance.

Teams like Spurs fight every year to get into a European qualifying place – and what do they then do? Moan about how it gets in the way of their season, and field teams full of youngsters.

Gonna be close, and think Warwicks have the upper hand. Need rain at the Rose Bowl.

We really blew it against Worcs.

My best memory was at one of the “Meet the Manager” Supporters Club do’s when he was asked whether we were going to fill in the corners of the stadium.

He was non-plussed for a second and then replied “it’s not Championship Manager, son”.

I liked him, although he didn’t have a Plan B and as said was negative against “better” teams. Think he’d taken us as far as he could, but that was far beyond what most of us had ever thought possible.

He could get Ipswich into the Premiership with a fair wind and support from the Board – not sure he’d do that well once there though.

I did once upset him though. I was stewarding in the tunnel and there was some advertising banner in the middle of the pitch (all the time now, but then rare). We were in what I still call the 3rd Diviision and had lost a couple of recent games despite going well overall. He came down the tunnel and asked me “what’s that”?. I jokingly said “it’s OK Paul, it doesn’t say “Jewell out””.

Sometimes my jokes just aren’t appreciated. This was one such occasion :)

Royal Mail never accepted Greater Manchester as a county for their purposes. So Wigan has always been in Lancashire for postal purposes, although I believe they are now dropping counties.

For a good reason actually. I live in Garswood which is within St Helens Borough, in Merseyside. However my postal address is a WN4 postcode, Ashton-in-Makerfield as the postal town, and (coincidentally) I have an 01942 phone number.

If I put on my address Wigan, Greater Manchester, it would be incorrect. I don’t live in Gtr Mcr, I live in Merseyside.

Back to the squad list after all that trollop, really disappointed that Callum McManamum and little Redmond are not included. Mind you if Crouch can’t make the Spurs 25 then our bright kids have no chance for wigan. If the two lads had made it, then who could have dropped out, this one is hard apart for you Gomez haters. :scared-eek:

Chris Kirkland, Michael Pollitt, Ben Watson, Emmerson Boyce, Gary Caldwell, David Jones, Hendry Suazo [don’t get exited that is Hendry Thomas], James McArthur, Jordi Gomez, Hugo Rodallega, Mohamed Diame, Maynor Figueroa, Steve Gohouri, Antolin Alcaraz, Franco Di Santo, Ali Al-Habsi, Ronnie Stam, Adrian Rodriguez [again don’t get too exited this is Piscu], Conor Sammon, Shaun Maloney and Albert Crusat.

That’s actually a good squad – on paper at least.

I think it needs to be realised that these are professional footballers. They know that they are in competition for places, and that sometimes you fall out of favour. That’s the nature of the job – just like managers know that they are going to be sacked sooner or later. It’s not like the everyday world.

If you’re going to have a huff if you get dropped and p*** the manager off, then guess what… you’re going to be seat warming for a while…

just latics garswood?…..or anyone, milner to liverpool is one.

Not down to me, just a suggestion, but I certainly wouldn’t want to plough through innumerable separate threads about other clubs’ signings or rumours

Is anyone else a little frustrated/jealous seeing Wright Phillips, Barton and Bellamy (if he goes) signing for QPR whilst we bring in an unknown and Shaun Maloney?

Cusat isn’t unknown, and you seem to forget we have also signed Jones and Al Habsi.

Barton and Bellamy I wouldn’t touch with a bargepole. And SWP’s best days are behind him.

And… you also have to remember that QPR will be far more attractive to players because they’re in London. We can’t help that – and frankly if what attracts a player is the bright lights of London, then maybe they aren’t what we want.

I’m sitting here quite content actually.

So – we now have two posts about this on this site, with neither actually naming the player??

Obviously top drawer. Personally can’t be ar**d trying to Google who it is. If they want to spend their money then fine.
