You thought i’d stopped what nonsense? Are the great unwashed not allowed to ask a moderator a question now?
Sorry i bothered.
You’re not asking me as a moderator, you’re asking personal questions to me about my family. What the f does it have to do with asking a moderator a question.
You didn’t just assume my family would be Wigan fans. You ask “is your grandson a united fan?”
Why (a) did you feel the need to ask anything, and (b) you didn’t even ask “how long has your grandson been a Wigan fan”?
Attack me, accuse me of being mutty as you did and I will take great offence. But don’t dare ever doubt my family’s allegiances.Yes. 3 of us – my grandson is very excited.
Just out of interest Garswood did the three of you go to the 3rd round tie against Forest, and is your Grandson a Utd fan?
My son and grandson went to the Forest game. My grandson is 5, has had a Wigan season ticket for three years now, and went to Villa too (as well as Chesterfield, Rochdale and Fleetwood last season). He only misses midweek home games (at 5 it gets a bit late with school the following day). He is very excited as he has never been to Old Trafford and would love to see us beat United. He sees it very simply that we will beat them 2-1, and then there’s nothing stopping us winning the Cup again.
What are you implying? That we are closet United fans? I thought you’d stopped that nonsense. I of course had no need to reply, but I have. Are you satisfied?
I didn’t actually go to the game however, despite having bought a ticket. I have had a nasty attack of norovirus over the weekend. I am sure you don’t want all the details.
Surely the attraction of a big game against United is that we get half the gate. If we then have to give back to subsidise our fans then that cuts back what we make.
And from a pure business point of view (which I’m not saying is necessarily right, but football is a business), if our fans won’t go at £45, we get a lower allocation and the space is made up by plenty of United fans who will pay that – and we get a cut of that.
Numbers of fans going and supporting the team? Not an issue. The ones who are willing to pay £45 will be the ones who give wholehearted support to the team on the pitch.
If it’s cheap, particularly if it’s cheaper than United fans are paying, then you’ll suddenly find an awful lot of people going who happen to take photos only of the United team, and watch them warming up rather than Latics. You all know what I mean.
That situation isn’t so much the case with Reading – we have a lot more reds under the bed in Wigan.Did we ever score at Manure in the league?
All ST holders should get tickets B)
Second Season in PL. Boxing Day Baines Penalty and we stayed up by 1 goal after we beat Sheff Utd on last day of the season !!!
I’ve made that point many times.
At the time (it was given in the last minute I recall) it was “what’s the use of giving us a penalty now?”
At the end of the season it kept us up.Yes. 3 of us – my grandson is very excited.
No egg i dont think it was arsey at all. I understand why you ask. It wasnt so much a case of spending trillions. We had good sides that cost very little but every time it started looking good they were all sold on.Sorry but i just do not buy that the club had to sell year on year. Nonsense to me that. In the premier league years Wigan athletic recieved about 700 million pounds but probably more in transferred players and tv money. It doesnt cost that much to rent a stadium and pay about 5-10m a year in wages. There are other reasons but yes Standish i 100% still firmly believe it
5-10 million a year in wages?
A million a year is “only” £20,000 a week. A fortune for us poor mortals of course, but standard for PL.
Our wages bill will have been significantly higher than 5-10 mill, if you include all the squad, manager, CEO, backroom staff, and that’s not counting all the others. The club doesnt have to tell you anything. Most don’t. Its a business afterall.Absolutely.
It’s called “commercial in confidence”.Do you know I don’t give a chuff who goes and who doesn’t.
I don’t give a gnat’s whatsit when away fans sing about empty seats, ground being too big etc.
I really don’t.
I come to the games, and Dieu willing will do so for many years to come with my son and grandson.
And if there’s half a dozen of us in the North west Counties I don’t care.Does everyone remember the magnificent goals Aghahowa scored in Youtube videos.
Sometimes players fit into teams. Sometimes they don’t.
It’s the way things are.For future reference :)
Pass the Turkish Delight over here
lazy journo’s have linked all sorts of clubs with our players. if they are that great, why are they next to bottom of the league?
Because they don’t seem to be playing like a team…?
Now funnily enough I think they are.
I think they seem to know what they’re supposed to be doing a lot better than they were at teh beginning of the season under Caldwell.
The fact that maybe they technically aren’t up to it, or just are human and make mistakes, is a different point. But I really do think they seem to have more shape.http://mobile.wiganlatics.co.uk/news/article/2016-17/ryan-colclough-recalled-3494549.aspxIt would be madness not to have a return clause written in to a loan contract, ……
Would we have wanted that written into a contract for Yanic last year?
We have quite a few. Morsy Colclough McKay being three of them. When we sent them out it was to give them experience (Or so they said.). If we end up in League one that experience could help us bounce back again and it would save bringing in new players. Who knows in Morsys case he could be looking at us in league one or wanting away to Barnsley who potentially could be a Premier League side.
Morsy has already stated that he would like to make his move to Barnsley permanent. I would get all three tat you mentioned back now if possible.
Can’t be done, horc, I’m afraid.
Although it’s termed a “loan” it is in fact a temporary contract allowing a player registered at one club to play for another. It is a contract for a set time (half a season or season), and will include details of payments to be made and whether the importing club will have the option to buy at the end of the period. During the period of that contract he cannot play for his owning club.So it’s not, I’m afraid, like lending your lawn mower to the man next door and asking for it back whenever you want – it is a contractual piece of business.
The game will be played at the DW Stadium on Wednesday 11th January, with a kick-off time of 7pm.Wigan Athletic will play under the Stadium Floodlights for their 4th Round tie against Southampton, who beat Manchester United in the 3rd Round.
Maybe an SLO or someone could suggest to the club free admission for ST holders? ;)
