11 January 2010 at 5:21 pm in reply to: Latics attendances given another slant by the Daily Mail #17859Don’t want to offend anyone but the sooner we admit our crowds are sh*t the better.
Yeah we have a lot of decent fans and im not knocking them but no matter what the circumstances, 5,000 for an fa cup match against another prem side is awful, no matter if we got man united and liverpool near us its just an excuse.
All this making excuses for us just winds me up really, i find it a bit patronising, it was whale, if we get an home tie in the 5th round lets hope its a better crowd, lets just be honest for once.
I don’t think you’ve actually read the piece properly have you? If you have, and this is your response, then I’d have to conclude that you’re a bit thick.
Either that or you support another club/sport and you’re deliberately trying to wind people up.
I believe that is actually how a psychologist would also explain it.
Even though I know you’ll discount all of these outright, three names I’ll suggest are Asmir Begovic (Portsmouth), Alan McGregor (Rangers), and David Marshall (Cardiff).
Yes, I hope the stud marks are healing well.
Have had it on good authority that Stoke are not interested in signing him.
Until I appears in the Independent, Times or Guardian, I’ll take this story with a pinch of salt.
He is a top bloke.I recently read his book, Jellyman Throws A Wobbly, and he talks a lot of sense.
Actually, I watched a bit of gss and I think Stelling knows that Jewell would stick up for Wigan and probably set him up accordingly
Careful Griff or you’ll be accused of being a Sky Sports sycophant.
Aside from the BBC, most Sky Sports pundits, a huge proportion of the national press, the local press, and now Jeff Stelling, is there anyone else hated by, what is seemingly, the majority of Wigan Athletic supporters?
I like Jeff Stelling. He presents a show which is, on paper, a strange concept: he’s there to make a day of listening to other people watch football matches entertaining, and he does that well. He says it as he sees it – which is how a majority of the UK football audience also see it, and that includes how Wigan Athletic are viewed.
Fair play to Jewell. I watched it, and he did fly the Wigan flag. Like the Daily Mail piece on Saturday however, you need people who know about the club to prod and poke those with the voice in the right direction. Wigan Athletic aren’t an interesting enough proposition for most people to read up on the wheres and whys before they form an opinion, so, as Stelling did on Saturday, they say it how they see it. Hopefully, as he’s an intelligent bloke, he’ll learn from Jewell’s opinions.
Jeff Stelling is one of the ‘good guys’.
Did her in Pemps toilets in the mid nineties I think!
I suspect that, like me sir, you can still make a fat lady ‘sing’….
…given half a chance.

But is anything as bacd as the Jason Scotland song? I forgot how bad this was.
Yes, your spelling of the word “bad”
Yes, that is ppoor.

If that was a dig at Gareth Hock, he wasn’t done for Sted abuse ;)It wasn’t aimed at Gareth Hock as he doesn’t post on here to my knowledge! It was a general RL jibe. If the Rugby League supporting fraternity do not thing ‘roids are rife in their sport, then they are sorely mistaken.
I’m sure that’s the case with most sports tbh
Maybe so, but the testing in RL is notably lax, and has been for many years. Testing in football, swimming and athletics is a lot more stringent. Can’t comment on RU or other sports.
Horrible stuff, apparently they’re playing in the same place as Ivory Coast & Ghana, you’d imagine they’re not too keen on playing there now, especially as those 2 nations have probably the biggest number of world-class players in their squads (Drogba/Essien etc)
Don’t forget our very own Richard Kingson
Little chance of him ‘catching’ any harm.
