Well at one stage Horwich was the first choice for the then Wigan Board.
Next giving a tiny amount for the Macron was a piss take about the plight of The Piggy Footers.
At one time that’s what C.L did (take the piss out of Bolton and The Rugby). It was yes. Thank f*ck we didn’t go.
Why would we want to go there?
More to the point……why would you want to give £2500 to B*lton?
Unsurprising that most of the 513 were from Australia, where the town of Wigan has been famous for a long time.
In THE only country where Rugby League isn’t a minority sport, that’s hardly a shock.
It’s actually the national sport in Papua New Guinea.
The difference of course being that we are a big team coming to them. They were a small team coming to us.
Still a bit steep at this level though.
Nobody has ever stated we have fans worldwide because of course we know full well that we don’t.
What we have stated is that the World has HEARD of us whereas they haven’t a clue who Wigan RL are. In Egypt I had a Wigan rugby top on and the guy started talking to me about Amr Zaki. Did he play in the same team as Billy Boston?
RL is played in 3 states in Oz at pro level and one of them is a massive minority that would have folded years ago if the league didn’t own them. Soccer is played and watched nationwide. I actually watched Latics game live when I was at the 08 World Cup. You do the maths on whether people in Adelaide or Perth have heard of Wigan Athletic.

Won’t last long then will they. Now troddle on.
So that’s Mutty is is?
Without sounding too much like a happy clapper, at 0-0 he obviously felt we were on top and considering all the play was in their half he was probably right. As soon as they scored he made two changes (which he was making anyway) and changed it. We then had two/three glorious chances in stoppage time and blew them.
Judging from his comments, I’m not sure he did think that but IMO anyone that did was living in cloud cuckoo land.
Last night was one of those occasions where possession mean nothing coz until a couple of scrambled late, almost simultaneous efforts, the team created almost nothing all night. Burton were comfortable & if anything it was Latics would looked the most vulnerable when put under any sort of pressure.
If Caldwell’s game plan had been to get a 0-0 draw then you might have a point but I’m pretty certain that it wasn’t.
He’s said himself what the problems were (bar his original team selection) but last night he just seemed unaware what or reluctant to do about it
I’d have changed it after about 55 personally, but Gary must have seen something to have left it how he did for as long as he did.

Perfect away performance from them last night
Two home wins & two clean sheets. Probably just move up one league place as ones above us will pick up points..
Gillingham and Coventry are playing each other so we will close the gap on one or both of them if we win
Burton also have Bury and Walsall have Sheff Utd.
Chance to go 3rd.
Spoiled it a bit by referring to us as the club with money to throw aroundSpoiled it massively by saying that. Basically made everything he had said prior to that void and the only reason we were what he had said is because we’re ‘loaded’.
Bit like the last time we were in this league when clubs spent more than us but we ‘bought the league’.
It’s pathetic and just like the FA Cup final kicking off at 5.30pm is aimed at America and the rest of the World. F*ck the English.
I mean, does anyone outside England refer to the Premier League as the EPL?
