Hope so. He’s an idiot.
Or maybe in a “mutty is talking rubbish again” kind of way?
What has his Championship record and Sunderland got to do with anything?
I think the point is that they take a pay cut to prevent non playing staff from being furloughed, that is where the government saving is and the clubs can continue.Absolutely, and that I agree with. Paying them £2.5k is just ridiculous.
It could be quite conceivable that these guys live paycheck to paycheck with the lifestyles they lead. Our going for a pint is their VIP champagne lounge. They probably have plenty of savings but so will other people.
As Stu says, reducing their pay won’t actually help the government unless you either tax them 90+% to cut their take home to £2.5k or you force them to use their pay to pay all the club staff and the government has a bit more money to furlough others. Again though, the NHS and other services lose the taxes that aren’t being paid.
If a player takes a pay cut the only beneficiary is the club that pays out less money.

Kyle Walker has been a naughty boy
Exactly Roy
The point i’m trying to make is that a footballers outgoings will be far far bigger than mine or yours
Well at a guess.
Gas and Electricity is based on usage so I imagine it costs more money to have a 6 bedroom house with a tv in each room, multiple ipads and phones on charge and multiple other electronic gizmos than it does to power a 1 bedroom flat with 1 tv and nothing else.
I expect that their council tax is slightly higher than mine or yours as they will live in better areas.
I also expect they have more subscriptions to things than we may do because to them, it costs nothing. Where we probably have a standard account they probably have a premium account.
They may actually have staff that they wish to pay out of loyalty rather than fire them or furlough them. Gardeners, cleaners, drivers, possibly monthly agent fees that they have to pay.
Take a pay cut yes, which some have, but you cannot expect them to live off £2.5k a month. Someone on 100k a week would be expected to live off of less than 1% of their wage? Would someone on £2.5k a month be able to live off less than £25 a month?
Personally I believe they should have taken a pay cut and the money be used to pay the clubs staff rather than them be furloughed.
The only striker to ever miss a sitter.
Will Grigg career stats in League One:
Walsall 99 games 27 goals. Goal every 3.6 games
Brentford 34 games 4 goals. Goal every 8.5 games
MK Dons 44 games 20 goals. Goal every 2.2 games
Wigan 83 games 44 goals. Goal every 1.88 gamesSo thats 260 games 95 goals. Goal every 2.7 games.
Sunderland 38 games 5 goals. Goal every 7.6 games. Definitely Will at fault and not Sunderland.
Just got this off an old pal. Brought back so many memories. My usual entry and exit point for the last few seasons
Wouldn’t surprise me if we don’t do it at some stage
Fully support McClean and his reasons not to wear a poppy, but he basically brings all the abuse on himself with shit like this.
Countries where the culture is to kiss, hug and shake hands with each and every single person you meet will suffer more than countries where you say ‘oreet’ and move on.
