Cook would have been potted long ago so i cannot understand the constant ‘Cook out’ posts after away defeats.
So far he has achieved a brilliant stylish promotion from a very tough league 1 and also maintained the clubs status in the championship and his home form is amongst the best in the division.
No ex Latics player has ever been potted as manager bar Barrow (unfairly in my opinion) in 1995 and our most successful managers since the entry to the football league in 1978 have been ex Latics players havent they?
More positive times to come in my opinion29 October 2019 at 7:08 pm #181698Caldwell

But we have appointed significantly more ex-players than other clubs have done
29 October 2019 at 9:01 pm #181700I’ll have to say theres been a marked improvement of late which I think is down to workmanlike performances by those in the middle of the park.
Just read Windass’s dad tweeted that son Josh was fit to go Sunday. Seems like he was just left out the squad.
More strange decisions by Cook
Perhaps windass isnt workmanlike enough in cooks eyes.[/quote]
I get the impression Cook and Windass don’t see eye-to-eye. When he first joined didn’t he try to dictate where he wanted to play but Cook was having none of it?
29 October 2019 at 11:22 pm #181701CaldwellFor all his faults, he was a promotion winning manager and for that, successful.
30 October 2019 at 12:51 am #181702Oops forgot about Caldwell but he was relatively successful before his sudden departure.
That season ended well didn’t it???
My opinion on Cook is he is good coach and gets the best out of what he has. He gets questioned about his selections but are any of his critics at training every day witnessing the reasons for his team selections.
My own view is that his team is improving and he is also bringing some of the youth team through but he does well on a limited budget.30 October 2019 at 6:55 pm #181707My own view is that his team is improving and he is also bringing some of the youth team through but he does well on a limited budget.Cook reminds me of another ex-player who went onto manage the club. This guy against all the odds won our greatest ever honour as a football club, yet was still labelled a clown by some. Truth is Vince, we could have Pep or Klopp in charge, yet some wont be happy.

Whilst Cook is nowhere near the standard of Martinez as a manager I’m in full agreement with your sentiments.
31 October 2019 at 2:24 pm #181713The criticism aimed at Cook is mainly because of the way he approaches his away games, he is far far too cautious especially when the points are there for the taking.
No one can deny that we should be sat on 6 pts from our last 2 away games had he had been abit braver when the oppostion were poor on the day.We can not solely rely on our home form or we’ll be in another relegation tussle for sure.
Also, we need to get Moore firing, the worry there is, he rarely works the keeper which is not a good sign. Take away Dunkleys goals and we would be rock bottom of the League 8pts worse off.
Moore needs to start scoring and the midfield need to start chipping in with a few.1 November 2019 at 11:51 am #181723The worrying issue for me is when Moore last played in the championship, albeit with another side languishing near the bottom, he managed 4 goals that season. Compare that to his season in league 1, & he managed I think 21.
I like the guy & his work he does to bring others into the team. Although many times no one is alongside him. He kind of reminds me of Crouch who took a while to get his first goal, then along came us!
My worry though, is he another league 1 player at best? Or are we simply not playing to his strengths?
2 November 2019 at 6:54 pm #181740Well he made positive subs today to try to win and we still concede late. That is so frustrating, we played well today, should we have had a couple of pens?
2 November 2019 at 7:09 pm #181741Think I’m faster than Moore. About as fast as Phil Daley without the finishing prowess.
2 November 2019 at 7:14 pm #181742He really should have taken his 1 on 1 chance.
2 November 2019 at 7:21 pm #181743Think I’m faster than Moore. About as fast as Phil Daley without the finishing prowess. You are joking, aren’t you?
2 November 2019 at 7:24 pm #181744Still not scored in open play in 15. For second game running clean through by ten yards and like a bloody cart horse.
