I hope we beat Blackpool then lose our last two and finish 6th (I can attend both rugby and football that weekend then) before winning the playoffs.

Of course, whether we finish 5th or 6th everyone on here will ask to remain in the Championship and for Derby to be promoted as they finished 3rd and playoffs are rubbish right? ;)

We did give a good performance and make a lot of chances against Reading. Although we scored three, with a true striker we might have reached double figures.

But we don’t possess a good striker and I don’t know what our best attacking force is. Personally, I’d be inclined to play Fortune or Powell. But you’re right, we do need three points on Saturday.

      I’d agree with that.
I’d said to a mate (not long before Gomez scored) that Latics were playing some fantastic stuff but it was all fizzling out in the final third.
Waghorn certainly seems to know where the net is better than any of our other forwards do but I don’t feel that he’s as good as an in form McManaman on the right hand side & I don’t feel he’s got the right attributes to be the spearhead of the front 3 (lone striker/call it what you want). When the ball was being cleared quickly from defence to attack I can’t recall Waghorn winning anything in the air over Reading’s defenders & I wouldn;t expect him to either. Fortune for me is best at that role but he can’t hit a cow’s arse with a banjo in front of goal.
Maynard I don’t rate at all

personally i hope we stay in 5th place as i can attend the semi finals as i’m off work regardless whether we are home or away as long as we stay 5th, which i think one more win will secure. I’ve already booked the 23rd & 24th may off.

      Just in case!!!!

Strongest side out there tomorrow please Uwe; let’s get the job done tomorrow and secure the play off spot.

Don’t want to be going to Blackburn on the last day still needing a point (or more)

Rotate the side against Birmingham and Blackburn, then back to full strength for play off first leg…and again full strength on the Monday if we have to.

Nearly a fortnight then to the final…like a holiday this season that break!!

        #130252

5th place would be fine by me – if Latics finish 6th it will mean that the end to the season has crumbled somewhat & I don’t fancy facing a Derby team who seem to have refound their form on the back of a poor end to the season.
On top of that I have to go to my daughters dance show on Sunday 11th (where I shall be dancing on stage too!! ) so wouldn’t be able to go to or watch the 2nd leg if Latics finish 6th

Well I’ll hold my hands up and apologise to Rosler for my comments this week.

He picked the team I wanted and they were awful today.

Did they think they just had to turn up and they would win?

Blackpool clearly wanted it more than we did.

Not sure where we go from here!

Well I am actually, it’s to Birmingham and I’m going.

At least there will be an edge to the game as we still need the points !!!

But I very much doubt he ever intended throwing his first choice starting eleven on against Burnley when there are two much easier games coming up and the play-offs just over the horizon.

There are no easy games in this league, this endless fucking about with the team for unknown reasons is causing us to end our season on a low after so much promise less than a month ago.
May I add it is also something that Brentford fans accused Rosler of as well, they blame his mass rotation strategy and strange tactical decisions for their failure to get promoted last season.

We must have lost if you are on here again!

Using your logic, that cannot be true as I would have been on here for the majority of the last few weeks.

Marcello Trotta’s spot-kick to leap-frog opponents Doncaster hits bar, Rovers break away and net to make themselves League One champs. Rosler said: “I don’t know what to say. Trotta was not my first choice to take the penalty.”

Brentford missed promotion because Trotta took a penalty against Rosler’s instructions and missed. Was that really due to Rosler’s mass rotation policy and strange tactical decisions?

            Rosler took Brentford to the play-off final where they lost to Yeovil. The Brentford fans seem as grateful to Rosler as our less perceptive fans are to Roberto. The team is more grateful. From getwestlondon;

“Uwe got the ball rolling,” said captain O’Connor. “We were a bang average League One side, but Uwe changed the mentality. Everything he did was all Premier League standard. He did amazing, so we’ll be saying thank you to him.”

Well everyone agreed today’s team was our best option, after that performance do we still?
May as we’ll pick eleven names out the hat on Tuesday.

It’s still probably the best XI we have. They just didn’t step up to the plate (he says mixing sporting metaphors) today.

Do some research for once and read all the Brentford message boards leading up to the end of last season and see what their fans say before you pull me up.

When we employed Rosler I along with every other Latics fan knew very little about Rosler other than what was written in the press, so I went through their message boards, not the stuff written at the time(which were a mixture of good and bad reviews about him) but stuff from the previous 12 months prior to that, many Brentford fans believe his rotating and team selection cost them automatic promotion.

As shown today anything can happen in one off games and that is what happened with Rossler’s Brentford last season, we should be well over the play offs qualifying line now and the fact we are not is what this debate is about.

I see you quoted one of his ex players, how many times do you hear an ex player saying his last manager was crap.

You stick to supporting Everton and leave DW stadium business to latics fans.
