If as you say standish he was promised the EFC job around feb/march, that would have been around the same time as our already expected decline from the premier league, but also had just won our place in the FA cup quarter finals. Now im never ever going to dispute our magical day in may. But it would appear he put all his egs in the one basket where the FA cup was concerned to make himself look good for the EFC job & to give deluded scousers false hope of his champions league promise within 3 years.

Like yourself i want our past players, managers etc to do well when they move on. But only when they leave on good terms which doesn’t put the club/team in any manure.

Anyhow standish. I thought you were not posting on here again. You keep coming back, so you must love this thread! ;)

I started hearing the rumours about this around the time of the Everton game – but I’d say the performance against Everton that day was more due to players seeing a cup semi final just over the hill than any tactical masterclass by Martinez.

They just wanted it more than Everton did.

    And likewise in the final.

And no, I’m not going to post on this thread again.

    #148026

    Not once.

    #148027

    Good. I’m not either.

And as I’m never posting here again no one will read this. First time Bruce was here he gave Mr Whelan assurances he was taking the job even sorted out the players released list then promptly fooked off to Palace. Don’t hear the same “judas” remarks pointed in his direction. And who was it who said after he had left again, “now I can go shopping at Harrods instead of Tesco” ?. mmmmm

At least Bruce peeshed off before the end of the season and didn’t wait for us to be relegated.

Having said that, I was the one who gave him the tesco bag with the photos of Cattermole and Bramble hanging out on two sticks. :woohoo:

Yes Mr Nuneaton, but Brucey never professed to love the club; he was just doing a job and he got us out of the shit the second time around. Bobby on the other hand would have you believe that he bled blue & white if he cut himself; but alas I now realise he was his own best spin doctor. Anyway his spin is running out at Goodison.

Paps, point I’m making is that Bruce as well as Martinez just moved on to what they both thought to be bigger and better jobs simple. As for him professing his love for the club, I’m sure he does but in football loyalty and longevity do not exist anymore. Everone remembers Wayne Rooney,s “ONCE A BLUE ALWAYS A BLUE” shirt just before he goes back to Goodison with Man Ure and kisses the badge.

If Martinez is a judas then there are many more throughout the game.

Even I was thinking about bombing out of this thread, but then I saw the “Martinez out” banner on SSN and it re-energised me.

I’ve heard a rumor that someone pinched is ipad and that has completely thrown him. That and having incompetent backroom staff, when will he ever learn.

No wonder his hair disappeared overnight, that champions league promise to BK must be grinding on his nerve ends.
Anyway you lot can bugger off, I’m making a concerted effort to keep this thread alive, well at least till the blue side of mersyside taste champions league footy.
