looking at the clubs in and around us why do we expect to do better? We must average less than 10,000 home supporters in a league where those at the top end average three times as many.

Jesus are you basing any future success on fan numbers ?, beggars belief. Just put leeds and Derby in the Prem hey along with Fulham because theres some posh houses near the ground.

It’s the overall performance week in week out makes me have concerns. I’m still thinking, is it the manager or the fault of the players who are simply not good enough.
It’s far easier to get rid of one man than a dozen plus players. I’m leaning towards it been the fault of the manager and the way he sets his stall out.
Garner couldn’t hit a barn door with a beach ball so to start with him up front was for me a bad move.
At times it’s like watching your Grannie with failing eyesight doing a jigsaw puzzle, she has all the pieces but doesnt have a clue how they all go together.
I’ve said it again and again, weve no ball player in the middle. Time and time again midfielders first pass option was sideways the 2nd been backwards.
I watched Bannan time after time slip little daisy cutters or flicks but more importantly he was always wanting the ball and forward thinking at every opportunity.
1 player like that can change a game in a blink but, Cook has always preferred the grafter run your sack off type of player.
The best player for me who tries to go forward is Robinson, well done fella.

Beggars belief? Top 4 over last decade in Premier League are generally clubs with massive followings or loads of money. 4 of top 5 in Championship as we speak (West Brom, Forest, Swansea and Leeds) have either massive crowds (in comparison to us) or have a fair bit of money. PNE will drop as you well know.

Do you not recall our rise to success being linked to having a wealthy benefactor? Now we are back to 8k home fans and Joe Royle pulling the strings we are struggling at a level we probably don’t belong. It’s not rocket science. Look at bottom half of table. Majority are clubs with poor crowds just like us and not much money. There’s exceptions to every rule (say Stoke and Huddersfield who are in a massive transition) but to suggest size of clubs and success aren’t linked is ridiculous.

From reading this forum for a while now there seems to be an overall frustration about where we are at. Although we are a relatively small club punching above our weight, with the players we have, we should be playing better than what we are. One or two perhaps have reached their limit but most just aren’t fulfilling their potential.
I was behind Cook last year as he hadn’t had much backing in the transfer market and it was a new division. I still like Cook but I feel the team needs fresh eyes to give it a spark.
However, as we know from the past, it needs the right pair of eyes.

Firstly, were not in the Prem, secondly, preston are 3rd and as you pointed out Stoke and Huddersfield along with Middlesbrough are in the bottom 5.

I’m not really arsed how many fans turn up I’m more bothered about how Cook has his team playing.
I personally cannot see what our plan is and the role of certain players. Bar Robinson were about as negative as you can get. Our style of play is horrible to watch and most games unafective.
This long punt up field for Moore is fine if, someone is close by to feed off the knock down.
Like I said, move Robinson up to left mid stick Naismith in behind then they can overlap. But under Cook this will never happen.
I’m not expecting Prem football far from it. I would like a more effective attacking plan and the odd win away. As said, were punching above our weight?.
I would say that backside talk. Were too good for League One we’ve already proved this, the Championship is our level.
Our away form is terrible. If we can improve this then a mid table finish is achievable. Anything after that is a bonus as Preston are proving.
When they hammered us last season they were in the bottom 3. 12 months on their in the top 3. So give me a solid reason why we cannot emulate this ?.

This reminds me of when we had Bobby in charge. A top manager (though most couldn’t see it – hence the dawn of the lightside vs darkside debates), wanting to TRY & play a decent level of football. But didnt have the players to do it. Bobby went from having Caldwell in defence to Kompany. Bobby now manages the number 1 side in the world. Yet most on here thought he was clueless.

I’m seeing a similar pattern with cook on here. I’m in no way defending his away record by any means. It is simply atrocious. I dont go away, so only base my opinion from either here or Facebook. But he does seem to set up very negatively when playing away. I’d rather we lose a game by at least trying to go for it as opposed to relying on a snatch & grab. I seriously hope this is brought up at the fans forum. I do agree with your mr brownbill & cupwinners in that we cant rely purely on our home record. But unlike the aforementioned, I still try & remain positive.

Hes got to set his stall out better when playing away, for me, take more risk. As I pointed out previously, if our away form remains the same (zero points) and we start drawing and losing at home then we are truly fooked.
For me he we have to play a risk & reward style of football rather than belt n braces lump it to the big mon football.

We lose,no sign of you for 2 days after. Then you do a pointless post. Then again your defense of Cook must now be exhausted. You proved last season that you’ve planted yourself firmly on the no change policy no matter how results go. I bet you really believed you’d be proven right last season after our last gasp escape. Hey presto nothings changed, new playing staff, same shit results and even more turgid, boring hoofball. So who do you put that down to ???

                    #181263

Well I was proven right because we stayed up despite you, cupwinners and the rest of the “we should be winning the champions league” crew saying we were doomed.

As for this season, I said we would struggle again because, well, that is the club we are at this level and it will take 2 or 3 seasons before that even remotely changes.

Question for you Mr Brownbill. Given our crowds and investment what would you see as a good finishing position this season?

                            Lol, proper troller,
As for Champions league ? were abouts Stu ?. Me think you’d be a good candidate for the next Specsavers campaign.
I said were sh1t away (true results don’t lie)
Cook is batting above his level (true long ball big mon dont work)
If we fail at home along with the away record we will go down (true bigger clubs have yet to come to the DW)
As for “We need a couple of seasons” the way were playing that won’t happen.
If things improve yes I will applaud him but I won’t applaud boring negative long ball who’s playing were football.
It’s not good to watch and will not keep us in this Division. When will he see like thousands of others we need a ball player in the middle just to keep things moving.
Too many Indians no chiefs comes to mind.
(Sits back and waits for Stu to troll again)
