To bigroy…..When has our club let investment and crowds get in the way of success ???..Only now under a manager who has been found out at this level do you now play “the little club” card as a last resort to defend Cook staying. If being chuffed with the horrendous away stats, shit negative no goals launch it football is for you then fill your boots ……there’s plenty more where that came from…..Short answer…….next to little Preston.!!!!

Dave Whelan massively bankrolled the club from 95 until about 2008/2009. Bobbys tenure here was always impressive because he did it with an ever decreasing budget. Our time to return to the top flight was under Rosler and his signings were dreadful.

Preston will always be a bigger club than us on paper, as will Bolton. Seemingly history carries massive weight in the club size stakes.

The new owners have spent quite a bit of money on the stadium, academy and squad but have stated from day one that they won’t risk the financial future of the club. That means signing lower league players and hoping they step up. That includes managers. So those touting Hughton as a replacement are way off. Cowley would have been our best bet but no saying how he will do. Jones is failing miserably at Stoke and they have plenty money.

As for posts, we clearly have a lightside and darkside again one of which goes missing every week.

Well I was proven right because we stayed up despite you, cupwinners and the rest of the “we should be winning the champions league” crew saying we were doomed.

As for this season, I said we would struggle again because, well, that is the club we are at this level and it will take 2 or 3 seasons before that even remotely changes.

            Lol, proper troller,
As for Champions league ? were abouts Stu ?. Me think you’d be a good candidate for the next Specsavers campaign.
I said were sh1t away (true results don’t lie)
Cook is batting above his level (true long ball big mon dont work)
If we fail at home along with the away record we will go down (true bigger clubs have yet to come to the DW)
As for “We need a couple of seasons” the way were playing that won’t happen.
If things improve yes I will applaud him but I won’t applaud boring negative long ball who’s playing were football.
It’s not good to watch and will not keep us in this Division. When will he see like thousands of others we need a ball player in the middle just to keep things moving.
Too many Indians no chiefs comes to mind.
(Sits back and waits for Stu to troll again)[/quote]

Personally I always think at home that we try to take the game to sides early doors but 1 up front means we usually fire plenty of balls across the box but have no end product. If we score early we usually stay well on top, otherwise sides wise up and force us into route one. We never seem to change our style to counteract that.

Away from home we are completely different. We seem to setup not to lose (which I get as the away side never goes all out early doors but is annoying when it’s a game we feel we can win) but are too scared to go forward. I have no idea what fixes it TBH as for me it is clearly a mental thing. The number of goals we concede in minutes 40-50 is shocking and basically kills any form of game plan stone dead.

Nonsense Ad. Cook is garbage and our home wins are all luck.

Throughout our entire history (Whelan years apart who threw millions at it) ya fool! If you take those years away last year would be our most successful years in our history. Funnily enough now the moneys stopped being put in we are languishing towards the bottom of the Championship. Preston get bigger crowds. And again apart from the Whelan years have finished above us. Don’t see that long ago we used to give em the home end at Springfield Park.

Rubbish royston, check out 1985/86 season, Nob End finished 23rd in Division 4 and had to apply for re-election to the Football League, whilst we finished 4th in the Third Division, missing out by 1 point of promotion to Division Two.
As for giving the home end up, wtf have you dreamt that one up from?

Which team was it then we gave half the home end at Springfield Park when they were going to win league?

Big Roy really way off. When you say Whelan bankrolled us did you realise in our promotion to prem season we had the 10th biggest budget and in 8 prem seasons we were always in the bottom 6 spenders.Still survived 8 seasons,2 cup finals and numerous great punching above our weight achievements. No one expects us to run away with this league but face it we are poor and should our home form faulted then its league 1 again.Sure the owners didn’t have that in their plans.

Genius! So without Whelan investment we would have got to Prem? Would have taken a fair run of luck at Springfield Park under Kenyon like but with guile and good management I see no reason why we couldn’t have got there!

Given size of club and support League One is about our level. We struggle every year in the championship and don’t have the investment to sustain a promotion challenge. Neither will Preston.

Our best chance to have achieved this would have occurred had we have kept together our Freight Rover winning team. Alas, we were struggling financially, so had to sell off our prize assets. If that team had have stuck together, I believe it could have gone onto great things.

That was my all time favourite team, fabulous to watch but couldn’t get 4000 to come. And people still moaned “bloody rubbish Newell, Langley, Cook, Kelly”
