Sunderland are already going up without Grigg so why would they want him on a permanent deal if he is not championship level?. He would be good enough if we played the right game that suits him. It’s all about the manager, he has the final say as to who walks on that pitch and how he wants them to play. I think Cooks 1 max 2 games away from the chop. Is he a bad manager ? , I don’t think so. It’s just a level too much for him. I’m sure he could comfortably bop around on League One/Two for years to come and been successful along the way.It takes a certain type of player to play in the Championship and in the Prem, same goes for managers and coaches, Cook reached he’s peak last season and this season has simply been a step too far for him so for me and my thoughts above it’s time for him to go.

Well these lads from Hong Kong are lashing out the money with the signing of Anthony Pilkington. He’s not played a single game this season and started 3 games last season. Must be match fit ready to be thrown into battle!

Of course I will and a lot will depend on who we replace him with also. If we let Grigg go and only sign Pilkington then that is probably a bad move.
Pilkington looks a decent signing but I’m keeping a lid on my enthusiasm till ive seen him perform…with our recent track record. Just hope he’s straight in and not waiting 5 games for match fitness or “1 for the future “.

And he is hardly a prolific scorer. If Grigg is going and this is the replacement, I am concerned.
Another quality signing, by the looks of it….
Plenty experience and a decent record at this level, but if he isn’t match fit then how long until we see him or is he another “impact” player?
He isn’t a replacement because Grigg can not possibly be going anywhere. Nobody in their right mind would get shut of our Will.
Also he is a left sided midfielder/winger so will probably be used rather than Naismith or Jacobs. The latter probably, with Jacobs taking a right sided role. McManaman most likely to leave as Cook doesn’t rate him and has demonstrated this further with ‘The Glassmans’ signing.
Could add some experience but left back and central defender are of higher priority.
