At present, with him still being fairly raw, he’s more effective as a sub when the full backs have tired.
We should never have built a 25k stadium. That’s why we get abused. If we had an 18k stadium we’d nearly fill it every week and our crowds wouldn’t get half the attention. Its because people see so many empty seats on TV every week that we get ridiculed.
Some good points there, 1932.
As for other promotion in the town, I heard the details of the Christmas lights switch on yesterday. Some no mark girl who auditioned for X factor, Luke Marsden, that t*t who was on Big Brother (Milking it, isn’t he?), plus, and I quote “…players from Wigan Warriors”. Not a mention of Latics. It doesn’t suprise. Walk 5 minutes away from the stadium and there’s so little promotion. If the club are not going to use opportunities like the lights switch on to their advantage then what are they doing? I understand its not easy, with the majority of Wiganer’s already following a bigger team you need more than just a billboard outside Tesco or a poster on the side of a bus. However a public event like you mentioned is an opportunity to get in peoples faces & promote where we are. Were are Premier League club. We couldn’t be any higher domestically. Its regarded as the best in the world. Even if they promote the opposition were up against more than ourselves. Come and see Drogba & Lampard etc in YOUR town for just £25, for example.
Also, we have 5 or more universities less than an hour away, full of students living in halls, from all over the country with nothing to do on weekends. Take all the upcoming game posters out the concourse and get them into local colleges & universities. Offer them promotions to come and see live premier league football for unbeatable prices, something most students wont be able to afford with United, City or Liverpool.
The marketing team need to promote to the right people. You see posters inside the concourses every game advertising upcoming games. Nearly everybody inside the ground already has a season ticket or is already going to these games. Its almost a waste putting them in there.
Also, why not shut the top of the south stand? Just the top 10 rows for example. It would bring people closer giving a better chance of atmosphere and make it look busier.
The club also needs to loosen its grip on fans being turned away at the ticket office when they are first time buyers. Even if it mean a few opposition fans in our end it isn’t really a big deal. I had Liverpool fans behind me on Wednesday who didn’t offend anyone when they scored or throughout the game.
We should be averaging 20k in this league but if locals would rather follow a successful random team from their pub its not easy to take their money. Location means nothing to them, its all about success.
I hope there isn’t one. It would be more miserable than a funeral with most of our fans asking questions
Slight over-reaction perhaps? We have just drawn at home to a mid table side and are stuck in the bottom 3.
We could win the Premier League and you’d find something negative to say. We outplayed the most successful club in this country ever, who were high on confidence having just beaten the champions, not to mention their team contained 2 of the greatest players of this generation.
It isn’t rocket science, we beat Spurs and Wolves, therfore we are better than them.what a complete numpty.
Based on that theory Northampton are better than Liverpool, Leeds are better than Man United, Hercules are better than Barca and Notts County are better than us.
So thats pretty much an 7-2-1 formation.
To true Mr Allardyce will have big Chris Samba causing havoc in the penalty box at every opportunity like he did in last season’s game.still suspended i think
Forget whether he’s been watching for a million years or not, anyone who feels humiliated because a football team loses a game needs to give himself a serious shake. An awful lot of people need to calm down a bit
They really do, but Wigan is just full of miserable people.
i have watched latics for as many years as makin and i like hundreds and hundreds of other long time fans feel exactly the same – i have a season ticket and its still an effort to go now – and yes there is a VAST difference this last 2 seasons to previous ones – sheer and utter boring, garbage football served up by the master of “negativity” and THAT is what is not “beneficial” to wigan athletic not me ,not makin, not any of the growing band of people who actually are fed up to the back teeth of martinez.B*llocks, again. My god i bet your a miserable git. Moan, moan, moan & moan. Some of our fans are so deluded its incredible. Its embarrassing. I was about to ask what you expect but i don’t wanna stoop that low and start a conversation with such a negative idiot. Try reading this instead http://www.mudhutter.co.uk/news.php?extend.92
B*llocks. If you have been going since the 60’s you would not be writing that. We are in pretty much the same position now that we have been in November for the past 4-5 years. Which again, is pretty much the highest we have ever been apart from maybe 1 or 2 weeks during our entire existence. Get a grip ffs. Nobody is forcing you to watch and if your reply is going to be that your only saying it because you love the club then realise your negativity is beneficial in no way what so ever.
idiot.
we played a game on tuesday and that had an effect on our performance today we never got going in the first halfI don’t recall any of Di Santo, Rodallega, Cleverley or N’Zogbia playing over 15-20 minutes on Tuesday.
worst excuse ever
The picture shows our new shop is in Clapham, London. Business must be thriving if were opening shops in the capital. Thanks for the positive news mr eggchaser.

Thinking of going to watch the footie there tonight
