Bollocks fil, we’ll never be united, they’re shit!
Given the fact it was against Utd who we had most possesion, corners shots etc, in fact the only stat where Utd had most were fouls commited. The fact thar Sir Alex Ferguson said that we deserved to win and were the better team a statement he uses very rarely. The fact that a team manages to stop Utd playing their normal game so superbly. The fact that everyone felt Utd had won the league and that the Wigan game was a Gimme for them.Given all the facts my question is this
Was the win against Utd the greatest performance by any Wigan Athletic team ever?
As a fan of over 40 yrs I say Yes I reckon it is. :)
I’d say for a team of rag tags and misfits, to play a team of multi million pound internationals, some of which touted as among the best in the world, and play them off the park, to give them hardly a sniff of a chance for 90 minutes, and to pose a constant threat going forward, i’d say its one of the best performances i’ve seen full stop, never mind just from the latics.
I can imagine the joy and bemusement of the neutral fan, watching our team dismantle the best english team in the last 20 years, the frustration of Rooney and co, wondering where the fuck did that come from.Martinez has moulded a team, that in fairness did not possess all the attributes to do what he wanted them to do……..at first, but given time and patience, a couple of things sadly missing from the modern game, he has shown what can be achieved, and the fact that his team has done it against 3 of the best in recent weeks shows its no fluke. I am proud of his integrity, his passion for the club and his willingness to believe in himself and his team, something we can all learn from, as i’m certain we’ve all had doubts this season.
It’s not over yet, still alot of work and a bit of luck maybe needed, but come what may, and i think that will be another season in the top flight, we will never forget what he, his team and his chairman have given us this season. goodpost goodpost goodpostI agree that no one can make them play on the anniversary, they are obviously very emotional about it, both the club and fans, and if they feel that they shouldn’t play then that’s fine as far as I’m concerned.
However, rather than Liverpool ‘minutes silence’ FC dictating to the FA and other clubs when they are and are not willing to play, they should instead have to forfeit the game, if they feel that strongly about it like!
Who else do you know that can just give themselves a national holiday when they want one?
By all means, mourn your loss, remember the tragic events, never forget, but don’t expect everybody else to be so grief stricken that they cant play a game of football.Dalglishs comment just shows how self important they are as a club, didn’t have much respect for them prior to this season, but they have even less after the antics of the last 6 months, and all the complaining to boot, always somebody else’s fault, always!
Tyldesley, you say that you think they were being honest regarding the Balotelli incident?
The one when he went knee high at song?As far as I understand it, Balotelli couldn’t get punished retrospectively, because the ref said he saw it and Took the appropriate action at the time. Firstly am I right in my understanding of it?
If I am right in my understanding, then how can the ref, after saying he’s seen the foul, say that it didn’t even warrant a card? Is that an honest piece of refereeing? Because I can’t for the life of me see how anyone can see that challenge and not give a straight red card, and if he didn’t see it he should admit he didn’t. Whichever way I look at it, the referee is being far from honest.
But I’m open to your view on it mate, I must be missing something?
I took more offence at the way that the duke had a sly pop at Jason Roberts, throwing him in the same category as chimbonda, bang out of order, failed to put your hero in that category though mr duke, it was noticed ;)
Ballotelli gets off coz the ref saw it and Ivanovic gets canned coz the ref didnt, weird rules
There is absolutely no way the ref saw that ballotelli challenge, there were 2 players in his line of sight at the moment of impact, and he was on the blindside of the challenge in any case. What he should have said was that he saw the coming together of ballotelli and song, and didn’t see an infringement, however, I was unsighted, so would not be able to say 100% there was no foul, only that I didn’t see one. That would be more honest, and he’d get more respect for it, but what are the consequences for them at the moment? They should be getting bans themselves if they make mistakes and can’t reasonably explain them!
It’s inconceivable to think the referee saw that tackle by Ballotelli and didn’t think it was anything other than a red card.
Exactly! So when the FA ask the ref did you see it, and he says yes, and did you think it was a red or yellow card, and he answers no, right then, you’re obviously not qualified to officiate a football match, there’s your P45!
It’s not difficult is it? All the ref has to do is be honest, and all the FA have to do is be fair, as it is, between them they’re making the game a farce, the players deserve better after working hard to get where they are, and the fans definately deserve better after paying their hard earned only to be robbed of a fair game.
As for Mancini, I don’t think he yet has any ‘calibre’, I think given Balotellis antics this season he shouldn’t have been near the first team, and a manager with calibre would have fired him off long ago, can you honestly see a ferguson, wenger or moyes putting up with an ounce of the shit that he’s pulled?
Balotelli will be gone in the summer, and so will Mancini, nailed on!Ballotelli gets off coz the ref saw it and Ivanovic gets canned coz the ref didnt, weird rules :ohmy:There is absolutely no way the ref saw that ballotelli challenge, there were 2 players in his line of sight at the moment of impact, and he was on the blindside of the challenge in any case. Could work for us that, his ‘strongest’ eleven haven’t exactly been pulling up trees, and they would have had one eye on the weekend, at least team he’s picked might give it a good go, all depends which side the ref and liners are playing for tonight eh?
I take it all back – 2-0 already. Happy days!!!
Might get the goal difference in order too at that rate!

Closed as far as I’m concerned, apologies for any offence to anyone, Micky incuded.
Getting upset by someone you’ve never met thinking you’re a prick, yeah, lots of ‘experience’ there, get some balls, it’s a frigging message board for ‘Gods’ sake ;)
Admit? Like its a thing to hide? My religion is none of your business, and you won’t decipher my beliefs from the fact I used the word priest, not vicar, or the fact that my father is Italian. I’m my own man, I believe what I believe, and I’ll live and die by it, it certainly won’t be swayed by a dickhead on a message board.
What, you think I’m going to be struck down in the night by some higher force? What a gobshite you are, what are you a priest?
How dare you say I should be ashamed, I’ve no reason to be, and you have the nerve to label anyone sanctimonious!
MickyC, I’m not your mate, in fact through our short conversation, I’d say you’re a prick! Why don’t you try putting your argument across without using your big and clever words, which a lot of people may not understand, and my analogy could just as easily have compared him to any other twat that wants to shove their beliefs onto other people, and if you think I’m being hypocritical by asking one person to stop patronising thousands of people, then you really are hiding your stupidity behind those big words of yours.
Sanctimonious, no, just pissed off with clowns thinking that being a proper fan means getting all giddy before a game and dressing up and fawning over players that lets face it, have been a let down for much of the season.Babis’s message, or the watchtower?
