I think we can add ITV as a whole and the majority of the BBC pundits are World Cup irritations.

I would exclude Lee Dixon, who now works for ITV. I find his comments intelligent and interesting.

I’m fed up with Andy Townsend, who would always have done better than the present players manage to do.

    I have my reservations.

Playing at a high tempo, the players are more likely to make mistakes. So it requires more attempts to achieve a shot on goal.

I don’t particularly enjoy watching this style of play. I’d prefer to see the players showing their skills rather than their fitness levels.

He does have a big squad. He wouldn’t be able to rotate the squad so much without it.

However we play, the performances would be improved if only we had somebody who could score goals!

Roberto is in Rio with Howard, Jagielka, Baines, Barkley, Mirallas and Lukaku (and possibly Stones too).

He’s out jogging with Ruud van Nistelroy.

Where did it all go wrong?

Ah! I think you mean that they have learning difficulties.

This VIP trip to Paderborn sounds good.

I might manage the coach to Spotland.

I see young Danny Redmond has signed a two year contract with Hamilton. I’ve seen the lad on numerous occasions in the rezzies and he has always shown great potential. I know it shouldn’t come into it, but his size for me has held him back from taking the next big step up[no pun intended]. At 23 he needed to get away and find regular football.

His ability and vision are bob on and also contributes with the odd goal. Scored a goal in less than every 4 games when last on loan at Hamilton.
Good luck Danny I’m sure you’ll be a great player over the border, will watch your progression with interest.

I hope he gets the first team experience he needs.

The Accies will be playing in the Scottish Premier League, so they’ll miss the big games with Rangers, Hibs and Hearts.

It shouldn’t take Redmond long to get to know all 1,436 spectators at New Douglas Park.

    Bobby closely linked to two new players in Rio;

That enables Crainey to leave, perhaps for Barnsley.

They think it’s all over. It is now!

    What was all that about?

Norman Hunter, Peter Storey, Nobby Stiles.

England aren’t the team they were.

in reply to: Rik Mayall #131725

    An outrageously funny actor.

The Metropolitan Police said the death was not believed to be suspicious. In 1998, Mayall was seriously injured in a crash on his quad bike and was in a coma for several days. The accident appears to have permanently affected him.

Ade Edmondson said that, since Mayall had recovered from his coma, he was slower on the uptake. Due to his medication, Mayall had been advised to stop drinking alcohol. Mayall succumbed to chronic fatigue and flu in May 2007.

in reply to: Premier League B Teams #131708

It seems obvious that the income generated by the Premier League should give more support to Football League teams, non-league football and grass-roots football. At the moment, most of it goes into players’ wages.

At least Greg Dyke recognises that the national game and the national team are both in decline. I’m not sure that B teams are the way forward, but it won’t be easy to find a solution that has broad support.

The number of over 16s playing football regularly fell from 2.2 million in June 2012 to 1.8 million in December 2013. As a result, earlier this year Sport England announced that it would invest £1.6 million in a pilot ‘City of Football’ to find new ways to get more people playing football regularly.

The pilot will run alongside over £160 million of existing activity from Sport England to develop the grassroots game, including funding new facilities, running community programmes and working with partners such as the FA, Premier League and the Football Foundation.

And now Garcia has come on for Espinoza.

Wilson Palacios and Figueroa played too.

    After 90 minutes it’s still goal-less.

He’s just come on against England, with 30 minutes left to play.
