Yes, it mirrors my experience very well. I think the highlight was the second visit to the Etihad and the composure as we controlled the game.
There will be one or two of our boys at the World Cup. But first we can watch the FA Cup Final – and cheer for Hull rather than Arsenal, I imagine. Then there is the League One play off to determine the last of our new opponents.
Meanwhile, we can keep an eye on comings and goings at Wigan Wallgate and await the announcement about season tickets.
Thank you.
If every ridiculous thread was closed down, there wouldn’t be many threads left.
On to 1,000!
He’s also been selected ahead of Erik Lamela, who cost Spurs £26 million when they signed him from Roma.
That would value Di Santo at, say, £30 million!
At penalties.
I’m not in favour of locking an inoffensive thread just because some people don’t like it.
If, for some reason, it doesn’t appeal to some people, then they have a remedy in their own hands – don’t look at it.
This is a forum. If posters wish to contribute to it, then you should let them. Who knows, they may find something new to say.
And the original poster – Alasdair – has already shown his willingness to continue the debate in the new season.
You enjoy everybody else’s suffering. It’s a pity you can’t enjoy ours.
And yes, I am Phil Moss in disguise. But don’t tell anyone!
Fleetwood are in the play offs – our paths might cross one day!
But we will be visiting Charlton and Reading. That gives;
We’re going to The Valley or the Madejski.
Que sera, sera.
Any chance that you’ll be coming in next season?
Let’s say that Martinez was in talks with Liverpool after they sacked Kenny Dalglish in May 2012. I wasn’t there – perhaps they just discussed the weather. Dave Whelan, who is closer to Martinez than most, believes that Liverpool did make him an offer.
25 May 2012 “He had a meeting on Thursday with the owner of Liverpool in Miami,” Whelan told BBC Sport. “I think they have made some kind of offer. They will speak again on Tuesday. I’ve said I want a decision by Thursday.”
Martinez turned down Aston Villa in 2011. Whatever was said by Liverpool in 2012, Martinez remained with Wigan for another season, winning the FA Cup but suffering relegation three days later.
After four years at Wigan, he moved to Everton in 2013, earning the soubriquet of Spanish Judas tvvat on this board.
We’re not going to Barnsley, Burnley, Hull City or Highbury. This is more difficult than I thought. Perhaps Preston will come through the play-offs, then it could be We’re going to PNE. Que sera, sera.
Jason Scotland – where are you now we need you?
Britt Assombalonga – I like the sound of him.
There’s nobody stronger
Than Britt Assombalonga! And Peterborough did lose tonight.
Carlos Tevez? Did he ever play for Wigan?
So; How long before bottom four Bob has Everton at the wrong end of the table; I think his bubble will burst next season, unless he jumps ship again !Oh Alastair! Have you no shame?
Anyway, I’ve got bigger things to worry about. It seems we won’t be going to Barnsley next season.
Que sera, sera.
There are people who appreciated his qualities and understood that he would inevitably leave for a bigger club. Indeed, he had already turned down offers from Aston Villa (2011) and Liverpool (2012). His departure for Everton was hardly a surprise.
There are people who appreciated his qualities but resented his departure after he had won the cup but suffered relegation, although he had turned down the offers from Villa and Liverpool to stay two more years.
Then there are the so-called football fans who failed to recognise his qualities at Wigan and predicted failure for him at Everton. They belittled his achievements when he was here and obstinately refuse to give him any credit for his work at Everton.
Rosler too will leave one day. If he is sacked – for failure – he will be the subject of abuse. If he is successful and leaves for a bigger club, then again he will be the subject of abuse. He can’t win.
Thank you, LHL. It’s been a very revealing thread.
And talking of Old Boys, good luck to Steve Bruce – and Maynor Figueroa – in the Cup Final. It will be hard work though. Arsenal have recovered strongly since they struggled to beat us in the semi-final. Meanwhile, Hull have relaxed in the league and may find it difficult to find their best form in the final. My prediction – for what it’s worth – Arsenal 2 Hull 0.
It’s apparently a condition of the loan contract taken out this season.
Martinez insists he is hopeful of signing Barry on a permanent deal but realises his club are at a disadvantage because of a clause written into the loan agreement when the 33-year-old joined them last August.
It states that City will be due the backdated fee if he does complete the move to Everton.
Arsenal, Chelsea, West Ham and Tottenham, who are also interested, would not have to pay the Premier League title favourites anything, meaning they can offer Barry much better personal terms.
