Another clueless know nothing pundit on a third rate newspaper?

Euro vision: Perhaps we were wrong to laugh at Martinez and his Champions League dream for unbeaten Toffees…

By SIMON CASS MailOnline 1 October 2013

But with a campaign already shaping up to be the most fiercely contested at the top for many a season there is every chance one of the usual suspects will not be playing Champions League football next year.

Will that be Manchester United and can Everton sustain their challenge? Only time will tell. One thing is for sure, Martinez is finding the transition to the next stage of his managerial career a whole lot less troublesome than the man he replaced.

I don’t want to get involved in this pathetic thread, but this post from you takes the biscuit for nonsense, Waddle is a clueless no nothing pundit on a third rate radio show.

Thank you for sparing the time to join us in this thread.

I’m sure that Waddle has said some foolish things about football. However, on the subject of Martinez at Everton, he does seem to share a common view that Martinez has made a good impression so far.

Perhaps you know of a football pundit with a different view – and can share it with us.

Some people just can’t let go. They look for the Everton result first.

I think they would rather see Roberto fail than Wigan succeed.

    Where does Scotland come?

Can’t you make a post without thinking of Roberto?

The more you deny it, the clearer your obsession becomes.

Oh yes, the good points from last night. They’ll never miss so many open goals in a game again. Will they?

Everyone should have an interest – though it’s better if it’s a healthy one.

But I thought you were a reformed character and no longer cared.

We all hoped that Bobby would prove to be to be the greatest Latics Legend ( we don’t really care anymore)

Back to the point. How long before “Bottom Four Bob” takes Everton to the wrong end of the table?

Well it won’t happen this weekend.

I’d like to see a reasonably fresh team to face Blackburn. But Coyle only made three changes for Maribor, bringing in McManaman, Boyce and Beausejour. So several players are going to appear for the third game in a row.

Blackburn played – and beat – Watford on Tuesday night, Rhodes scoring yet again. They will have had four days to recover, compared to Wigan’s two.

    Assuming Fortune is not fit, my guess for the team is;

    Carson (played in 2/2 games)
    Boyce 1 Barnett 2 Rogne 1 Perch 2
    Watson 2 Gomez 2 McArthur 2 Beausejour 1
    Powell 2 McClean 1

    Difficult choices for Coyle;
    Defence; Bovce 1/Shotton 2
    Forward; McClean 1/McManaman 1

I don’t know how Espinoza 0/2 fits into Coyle’s plans. If the team needs more energy, surely he will come on at some stage.

I still can’t see how Coyle wants them to play. They seem to be doing their best in the absence of any grand plan and a recognised forward. So long as they don’t just kick it upfield for McClean to chase.

Beausejour was sensational in the first half.

But they were shockingly poor – just look at the first goal!

Wigan should have been home and dry by half time but turned down the other free gifts they offered. Amazingly, in the second half, Wigan had to rely on a fantastic save from Carson – yet again – to stop them equalising.

So, a great occasion, but an indifferent football match.

I understand that there are Scotsmen who always support England’s opponents.

It’s not a particularly appealing characteristic.

But the Wigan team looked disorganised in the second half, and nearly gave their lead away. Carson saved them yet again.

I wouldn’t criticise Beausejour. He did as much as the teamwork allowed him too.

    Rods, Perches or Poles.

    One for the older ones.

”Not sure where they got there baseball bats from for the attack around Sams/Pear Tree, somebody mention our local Poles might have been involved.”

I’m sure somebody did mention it. But it’s best not to repeat ignorant gossip.

I now understand the comparatively large police presence in the away end – about one to one – and all the police vans trying to get to the ground after the game.

You can see why some cities are wary of foreign football fans and treat them so harshly.

So why didn’t they give him more of the ball?

in reply to: Tonights game #121835

Wigan were infinitely better than Maribor individually and collectively. It was an entertaining evening but the game should have been settled before half time.

Did Wigan play well as a team? Not really. In the second half, Coyle was calling for more effort. But the team was trying – it just needs to direct its efforts in a clear direction.

It’s difficult to say what instructions Coyle gave them. Blackburn will be a greater test.
