Lord of the Pies….would you like to tell us how many times in the last month that the attendance at your previous game has been surpassed. Oh and don’t give me 11,000 on last week, you’ve played 5 games at home and 3 times less than 10,000 (7,500 last week), Wiganers have actually paid to watch Wigan RL

“we couldn’t do any worse no matter who owned the club”

Well we could have someone who wanted to move us out of Wigan, a lawyer and his mate who have no real interest in the club…..oh hang on a minute, we tried that, seemed to work well from what I remember

So let me get this right, you want back a player that disappeared 4 times between August and March, 1 who showed great promise but never quite delivered (although he could take a great free kick) and one who can’t play for CC side because of contract issues, but who nobody else has tried to sign.

Ok then….. but haven’t you forgotten Chimbonda?

He’ll be walking out of QPR soon, reckon Warnock will suss him out quicker than Dowie with Zaki at Hull.

Applauds Billinge Pie, Nuneaton Latic and Mauler…..however, the fact that *clubs whose local population gets off their backsides and supports them in greater numbers are still massively in debt seems to conveniently escape the Dark Siders who seem to think its easy to make money out of football.

Thinks of Bolton, Everton to name but 2. Kenwright and Eddie Hemmings are really coining it in arent they?

“Their defence looks solid”….how??? Isn’t there goal difference one of the worst in the Prem?

Oh and agree about Bent, was nailed on that *if he hadnt netted today he would have scored on Tuesday.

*Apparently scored on his debut for Ipswich, Charlton, Spurs, Sunderland and Villa.

As bad as Caldwell was, is and will ever be…..Van Persie was sublime today, absolutely fabulous. At the time I was critical of Caldwell for not using strength against RvP for his second, and slightly critical of Al Habsi for not getting to the 3rd, but seeing them again on the screens, both were magnificent finshes.

Al Habsi was inspired today….I’d have been making a phonecall to Horwich at 3.15

Well said Andy, we’re definately at our best when we look to attack sides, those games you mentioned and some spells of other games have shown this. Attacking in a patient manner doesn’t seem to suit us, we seem to be far better when we move the ball at pace.

Wasn’t the Scott Green booking in a game against Swindon at the JJB? Just checked, according to Soccerbase, there was a game v Swindon in 2001 where he came on after 80 minutes and was booked (doesnt mention time of booking though).

As for hardmen….Campbell, Johnson are just 2 that spring to mind, and from (very) vague memory, I reckon Colin Methven wasn’t shy at going in for a tackle.

Oh and that story about King and the ref’s boots is quality!!

Be fair, TBH doesn’t need advance warning…..I’m sure he read the official website thoroughly and saw the article about the ticket offer. ;)

Can’t believe Bent wants to go to Villa, Sunderland seemed to be a settled club, whereas Villa could yet be in a relegation fight for a while (unlikely I admit) and may sack Houllier at some point. Seems a strange move to me.

Incidentally, heard a rumour from a Birmingham-based friend, that there are lots of murmourings among Villa fans that there’s a deal in line to take Figueroa to Villa, while they let Warnock return to Liverpool.

How on earth do you work that out?? There would always have been a low police expenditure for the game, which club should have budgeted for. So we’re hardly “redistributing expenditure”, more like getting less matchday cash than we would normally for a gate of 18,000 or so.

Just a point to all the “Whelan’s making fortunes” brigade…..I don’t know how many free tickets have gone but we’re selling 2 for £20 (if I’ve got that right), so with 16,000, made up of STs, frees and £10, just how is the club supposed to make money??
