According to Alan Nixon (twitter) something in paper tomorrow re Latics, major news apparently. Seems it may be something to do with investment.
Just on that topic, noticed a reminder yesterday of how hard things can be in this game when Southend have to come up on the train on the day of a game (not unusual for teams to use railways, but not on day of a game) and then resort to walking back to station after match
Shame for Shaun Mac that, must be a bad injury if he’s reduced to appearing in the Supporters Club before every game
3 is not good, but if you look at the first 2, poor tackle from a young loanee, possibly a bit unlucky, Dunckley hopefully has learned his lesson, really silly error from him to react to Pitman little kick at him and possibly a bit of other stuff that may have gone on during the game.
Todays sending-off, that is a different story, to get sent off after the game has ended is completely unacceptable, that should not happen and Cook needs to lay the law down over that, totally unprofessional behaviour by Colclough.
Donny, you’re spot on about England, terrible performance against a team that I’d expect most of the Championship to beat comfortably, but how does poor management and poor goalkeeping in an England international lead to a dig at Latics FFS??
Not sure of the Latics connection, but having looked at the betting list on here, I;m thinking LHL could be referring to Garry Flitcroft or Keith Hill.
Really not sure who we are looking at, doubt it will be those 2, Stubbs or Adkins though. If we could get him, I’d be fine with an experienced head like Jackett, or when they stupidly fire him, I’d take Monk.
Not sure about that, but I do remember going to Walsall years ago (Deehan days) and David Lowe, wearing Number 9 was the first attacking player on the park..think the line up that day had 4 centre halfs and 4 right backs.
Set up was all wrong today…too many holding midfielders in stating XI, Would have had Morsy on at least instead of Power or Tunnicliffe, possibly Colclough as well. As for Powell, we were never going to start him, but to be fair to Barrow, though he got it wrong, he does at least try to make some chances to alter the formation. Again in GB’s defence, he was not to blame for us conceding a Sunday League 1st or Calamity Jakob in goal, That alleged GK is one of the worse I’ve ever seen play for us….absolutely shocking.
I’d have him back, although he’s not the biggest, always seemed to be looking to do something positive to get us moving forward, never mind L1, I think he can play at Championship level….unless there;s something happened we’re not privy to, another bonkers decision from the club
Sam and one of the other unused players (can’t remember who, might have been Mandron) came and sat near us for 2/3 mins near end of game (close to disabled section, near tunnel) on Tuesday night, brief conversation during which he said he wasn’t injured…of course, that’s only his word, whether there’s more to it, who knows

Going to Plymouth ( think it was our promotion season to the Championship ) and we couldn’t get into the ground until the bomb scare was over !Went on Supporters Club coach, in the pub and the Plymouth fans were telling us game might be off…rather than a bomb scare, wasn’t it some fire/smoke alarm that kept going off without reason?
Just a quick point about Sam Morsy, according to FA Suspensions List, him and Max Power are on 9 bookings, the cut-off point for suspensions in next Sunday. After that, 15 bookings lead to a ban.
Seems obvious to me that the 2 clubs need to get together and agree a plan to spend some time and money and sort out the pitch once and for all, instead of following a false economy and keep spending smaller amounts of money for a short term fix.
Also, although plenty (myself included) have a had a good laugh at them having to call tonight’s game off, we’ve had to move a game to a Thursday night to accommodate their GF fixture. Seems that unless requests are being ignored by FL & RFL, its beyond the 2 clubs to request away fixtures on weekends the other club is at home. This is particularly the case with both last and this Easter, where Wigan would play St Helens on Good Friday and then if they would be at home on Easter Monday. Unless things changed dramatically in RL, Wigan v Saints GF 2017, could have been predicted 20 years ago, yet both clubs have had home games on the same day in 2016 and 17 over Easter.
Whether we, as fans like it or not, we share the stadium…pitch is a massive aspect of that, yet Wigan Athletic & Wigan RLFC can’t seem to work together to sort it properly
Sacking the manager will achieve absolutely nothing, we CANNOT just keep changing managers. However, where I have been disappointed with Joyce is that while (in general), we’re more solid at the back and score a few more, we cant seem to marry the 2 up and whereas I thought that after a settling-in period, getting to know players/getting own players in…Joyce would employ a more attacking style, this hasn’t happened.
We still seem to be more intent on not losing games, rather than looking to win them when the opportunity is there. Saturday, perfect example..without a change in formation, he could have taken Grigg off and put maybe Obertan or Mandron on, just to give them something different to think about.
Midfield is the main problem, only Morsy gets forward, Perks and McDonald too similar, Power is currently offering next to nothing. We don’t get enough players in the box to pose too much of a threat, on the plus side, Bogle’s busy, got something about him and is the one player not afraid to try something, even if he makes a mistake
