I live in the metropolitan borough of wigan i am a wiganer now once more alltogether now lets all laugh at wurriors na na na na :P
Must admit mutty wurrior scumberland fan i agree with you doesn’t make it really embarrassing to us wiganers
But it does to foreigners like you and wurriors fan base from bolton preston chorley westhoughton so come on wiganers alltogether now lets all laugh at wurriors lets all laugh at wurriors na na na na pissin my self laughing :lol:My view too, donny.
I found Shrews up themselves and rather unpleasant, whereas Rotherham fans I’ve found to be OK.I agree. Whilst they were top and things looking rosey, they were very cocky and arrogant, giving us no credit and I even read them criticising us for getting late winners, after Bradford away. How many times did they nick a game in the 94th minute?
Their manager too, something arrogant about him as well. Not to mention their playing style and tactics.. Dull as dishwater, trying to close games and nick them late on. I’ve no sympathy. They’d have got smashed every week in the Championship with that team and set up. Hurst is already having talks with Ipswich and will no doubt go there. So no sympathy from me. Would anybody have any sympathy if it was Latics in their situation? No. We would just have lots of put downs about attendances, probably.
We have plenty put downs off lots of fans from other clubs re attendances. None of them realise our attendances are pretty good under the circumstances. Shrewsbury in particular have pathetic crowds considering they are Salops only league club and a club also that hasn’t got any Premier league clubs within 30 miles. Actually Shrews main rival for crowds is race day at Bangor on Dee every now and then.
i thought shrews had to compete with much bigger clubs like wrexham
Another good topic ruined
I think the owners will make money back home in china through selling club merchandise and sponsorship could be a big thing over their
And you never know we might get fans coming to watch the tics from china well we can only hopeSee the 2hats in blackburn starting to knock our takeover on their forum feck me who do the hillbillys think they are
Ok we are a small club sandwiched between giants they are a small hillbilly club sandwiched between bigger clubs like burnley preston and accrington so whats their gripe with us._.._ oh hang on a min that chicken plucker club only managed to finish secon behind the mighty tics they wont admit it but it feckin hurt them :lol:on wish fm now sharp saying takeover possible in next couple of days he is hoping to remain chairman
so its a complete takeoverMore people will come the better we do, it’s as simple as that.
I remember having the conversation with JJ several years ago on what the best way to get bodies into the stadium was, the absolute answer was – WIN MATCHES – it is fool proof.
Jayt Wouldn’t it be better to employ a undertaker at the club if its the best way to get bodies in ?
Asking for trouble…..
what do you mean?????????????????????
one robbed us of our freight rover money, the other almost robbed us from our town.
You know what I mean. Bickmon has already taken out his 3 wood waiting for Dave Whelan to be placed on the tee.
Cant call whelan for what he did for our club most of what i said was banter and just to wind some folk up
But whelans time is coming to a end and i give him the respect he deserves and wish him well for the future
Now for me bill kenyon was the worst sold players and bought a huge house in haydock or was it garswood with the money
Also the 2hat looked like one of the three musketeers be it a over sized oneI’ve said it before & i’ll say it again, our stadium is way too big for our support. A bournemouth size stadium would have been more sufficient.
But yes. The people of wigan are shocking when it comes to supporting their town team. 30000 turned up in the town when we won the cup. As delia would say, “where are you, lets be ‘avin you.”
.
Who had the better vision Mr Whelan or the owners of Bournemouth whose stadium is costing them millions in lost revenue because it is way too small. They would swap grounds with us in a heartbeat if possible. The DW is paid for and not costing the club anything for having a 25000 capacity. If we ever get back to the greed league and investment is available for us to compete then again it will not cost the club millions in upgrading the stadium. The DW is fine as it is. Only some Latics fans could have a whinge and want to reduce capacity. Whatever next bring back the Springy bogs where you could smell the piss from 100 yards away.
Nuneaton, with all due respect, I think your missing the main point of my post. Our stadium is way too big for our support. Thats all!
I don’t think I’m missing the point Runc, attendances have dwindled because we have gone back down the leagues which would be the case at every other club as well. Our first ever Prem game against Chelsea saw the stadium full so it wasn’t too big then. So what your saying we should give up all hope and thoughts of ever getting back there and go back to being a low league club and play in a small stadium. You ought to know this great club by now marrer and never ever underestimate what can be achieved. We done it once and I for one would never back against it doing it again.
Answer me this question Runc, why did you become a Latics fan?
I guarantee it wouldn’t be because or the incredible atmosphere at games. No Tics fan would probably say the same. We support the club because it is special a one off a club who defies logic and competes and beats the big boys. A club who surpasses all expectations despite being stunted by its big bullying neighbours. None of us are Latics daft because of the size of our crowds it is because the club is fookin brilliant and gives us so much.
No atmosphere small crowds bulging trophy cabinet that’s Wigan Athletic and I for one wouldn’t change anything.
Celebrating my 40th anniversary as a tics mon next season. And like you, i wouldn’t have it any other way.
We filled the stadium vs chelsea as it was our first ever game in the PL. It was a novelty. Whenever the mancs or scousers came to town, again the stadium was full, largely due to the fact that a lot of wigan born scouse & manc supporters came into our end.
But attendances did start to drop the longer we stayed in the PL.
Selling our best players year in year out didn’t help while in the premiership no wonder fans left
They’re in talks to be taken over by a guy who owns Eastleigh with little financial backing of his own. Contracts mean they have to discard most of their 1st team, and have numerous multi-million transfers still to pay. It’s difficult to imagine a much worse option for a manager like Cook.
He’s fronting a consortium that are planning to take over the club after the current owner has settled all debts, meaning we start debt free with a £38m parachute payment due. Not a bad starting point for a 3rd division club. I seem to recall Latics being dubbed the Man Utd of League 1 with their £9m parachute payment in 2015 – that must make Sunderland the Real Madrid and Barcelona of League 1. 16,000 season tickets sold before it was announced that Ellis Short is on his way – probably another 10,000 sold once the new owners take charge. Its going to be fun at some of these grounds next season – they’ll never have seen away support like it.
Great news to have finally found your level also now you can say your a massive club unlike in championship and in premiership
Onward and upward!
the more i look into all this the more its getting confusing but like you say hope a club statement comes out soon
needs to be sorted so we can bring in better players for next season or we could find ourselves struggling early doorsmaybe the ref got a friend to put a bet on for him for a wigan draw 1-1 ;)
so if it happens then next season we could be head and shoulders above the rest
