I would also drop Burn and put Bruce in for experience.
You for real ???, he had a stormer. Last ditch tackles are all apart of a defender’s game. The tackle he made in the box when chasing back a one on one was top draw and the one on the dead ball line skinned him and came away with it. What game were you watching ??.
If we can add a little bit of width even on one side I can see goals.
That second half was exactly what Wigan fans, want to see regardless of the result, players giving it 100% and we could have nicked at the death.
Bogle is a breath of fresh air and like Heskey he’s not scared to drop back in and do some defending duties when needed.
I would sooner go down trying and drawing 2-2 or losing 3-2 with 2 up front as opposed to 0-0 draws 1-0 losses with 1 up front.Obertan’s career has been blighted by injury after injury so don’t be holding out too much hope on him being our saviour!Well something has to be done, 6 goals in 12 games and in 9 of those zilch. It’s OK having a solid hard working team which we have but that simple fact is, we are not scoring enough goals.
When we get into the last 1/4 of the field we are totally clueless. For me Wier has to start and give us that lift in the middle and Bogle and Grigg must at least be given 1/2 an hour just to see. I like Joyce in one way but sticking with this plan of playing a small army in the middle to stop other teams playing will send us down.He mentions Rotherham and playing 2 up front and how we got overrun, this is true but since then we’ve how players come in ?, we could play a different starting 11. Be braver Joyce and stop chasing games with 1 up front
I’m sure Joyce ain’t saying “Don’t give it Grigg” but I know one thing, their certainly not getting it to him often enough in fact hardly ever. The only glimmer of light was when Wier came on. He was willing to run forward while in possession and was keen to pass and move the ball at pace. Hopefully he will start him and drop Perkins.
I look through the squad and why the hell have we got so many midfielders ,,,ffs , we’ve a small army of them. Obertan needs to get fit in record time or it’s a pointless him been here then Joyce can hopefully play him wide and not up front as he has kindly pointed out.
Joyce needs to be braver in his player starting 11. His system at the moment is not working, sticking by it will send us down for sure. Sorry Joyce which ever way you do it we need wins which means goals
I don’t think we need to change the manager, the manager needs to change his stubborn ways by first, stop flooding the midfield with grafters.
Either get some natural width into our game for the sole striker role he wants to play or play 2 up front because the way are midfield are set up at moment we might as well play 4-6-0 because Grigg is redundant.
Why does he see every wideman or attacking midfielder as a forward ?, first Powell then Yanic and now Obertan. The Sheffield Wednesday game spoke volumes, losing 0-1 replaces forward for forward.
His stubborn ways will send us down and it will be another rebuilding job by someone else. What’s more worrying than Powers negative back pass is Joyce’s after match crystal ball remark “2 attackers on the field doesn’t necessarily means we’ll score goals.
Bogle made a fair few of the 30 goals Pádraig Amond scored for Grimsby in only 40 starts. So how the fook does Joyce know if won’t work until he tries it ??. Friday was the ideal time 0-1.
Good managers adapt in Joyce we have the new Martinez “It’s my way or the highway”.
Unless he drastically changes something up front were fooked.
Grigg up front with no width and a midfield full of grafters isn’t working. Please tell me who is going to put the ball on a plate for Grigg (which he requires). Sorry Joyce but belt and braces football will send us down, it’s goals that keeps you up.
Try this:-
Bogle and Grigg… there you go I’ve said it.To be so cock sure something won’t work you first have to have tried it. At the moment you have no proof. The only proof you do have is:-
1 up front isn’t working. New signing Rhodes starts, big guy Rhodes nods on to small guy Wallace and Weds win 0-1.
Seems like there’s some Leeds fans are abit pished about us signing Bogle and are now claiming that we paid £3 million too much.
Ironic that, it’s the same number as Leeds away support. If he scores a few that could be worth up to 10 times that. If Ighalo can bring £20 million for 3 shots on target from 86 attempts anythings possibleHe should know about empty stadiums, he played in enough of them for Middlesbro reserves.
When all said and done hes had 1 half decent career and we made 6 million off the back of it which has then gone on and helped us fund new signings and their wages.
Have you been on the moon ?, it was announced ages ago and the game is tomorrow
I read an interesting article today a Grimsby fans view of Omar Bogle and they reckon he’s a better forward when he’s playing along side the smaller type forward. They mention Padraig Amond and his partnership with Bogle were Amond hit 30 goals from 40 games.
I wonder if this is Joyces next move, Grigg & Bogle ? will be interesting to see considering both players seem to need another forward by their side.
How do you know Grigg needs another player by his side?[/quote]

they keep their numbers even when on loan
When Joyce was appointed Wigan manager the first thing I thought was, his knowledge of the bigger clubs development squads/players will be immense and sure enough he’s tapped straight into along with his assistant manager and hopefully found us a few hidden gems. My worry was he might have problems dealing with seasoned pro’s as apposed to young lads but he seems to have made that transition well.
The one bonus is, all these players are in and around their early 20’s so he knows how to talk and handle them and squash any ego’s before their heads get to big for their shoulders.
Some managers man management skills with younger players leave a lot to be desired but Joyce knows exactly how to develop them and to get the very best out of young lads. A few have already said they have alot of respect for him from previously working with him. These type of players are exactly the type of player Wigan badly need, hungry players all given a second chance and hopefully they all develop into top players which is good for both parties.
We are a club based on giving young ambitious players a chance and to develop into top players and giving players who were out of favor with their club a 2nd chance, Palacios been a prime example. And with a some older heads in the squad I can see us steering out this bottom 3 mess were in.Bogle reminds me of Ellington, you know it’s there from banging them home at lower league level but now he has to prove to all he can replicate that in the Championship. If he fires on all cylinders from the start I can see him moving on to bigger and better things and in a year or two selling for stupid money.
It’s a shame Huwes didn’t stop rather than get sent out on loan to Ipswich from Cardiff, never get bigger than your boots, fool to himself.Personally I would try to squeeze Bogle in quickly and make sure rest have had time to settle. No better time than in front of the tv cameras, let’s see who got the better deal Rhodes or Bogle ?
The mind Bogles,
oooops , there you goLooked at that Jack Byrne”s Twitter picture, looks like a bit of a Irish hardcase and best m8’s with McClean, proper arse kicker.
Joyce’s headache now is shaping all the new and old players is such a short period of time and hopefully the new players can get Grigg or Bogle scoring goals otherwise it will be another building job next year
