Well I would draw the line here Garswood. I detest The Lilyshites Knob End.
Hat trick from one of their strike partnership.Hope Gary was watching but somehow don’t think this tactic will catch on at Latics. Its old fashioned, a thing of the past and outdated.

Sorry Garswood it should have said get the recruitment right and then make sure your servant the manager plays them.
Somehow this didn’t happen last season. We got the recruitment wrong and then we didn’t play them. Or something like that. Anyway I bow to everyone on here because you are all so much better fans than your fellow fans.

I detest the amount of money players get but appreciate that in football it is like a bubble and football finance does not correlate with the real world but I would like to see our Latics successfull and for that at some stage we have to play the game and pay what may be abhorent to us all but is the price of seeing our club suceed. In this case of Boycey, yip thank you for your service but for the type of money Emerson will be looking at we could sign a younger, hungrier and better player or as said previously two or three players to fit into the clubs wage strategy. Sorry Boycey and sentiment but that is business.

Emerson had a perfect chance to show his loyalty and gratitude to the club who have kept him in a millionaire lifestyle. He could have accepted the offer put on the table for him.

                Bigger wages would swing it.

Yes the big clubs do monopolise young talent putting another dose of pressure on children and parents and raising false hopes. How could we compete with their monopolisation even if we had the best facilities in the world. Blackburn/Bolton have amazing facilities and are going nowhere. Utd Liverpool City etc poach all the best local youngsters anyway to dump them and let them down and totally destroy their confidence just for the slightest thing. To these major institutions they are a commodity and not young people.

Nail on button and the majority of players we bring through will probably not make it with us but will go on to other clubs lower than us.
Who was it who thought of and implemented this elitist idea of grading clubs reserve/youth sides in comparison to what facilities clubs have? Never heard such bollocks. What ever happened to progression on merit. Sounds a little like an exclusive little club and just isn’t right.

Again this choice was probably due to terms and conditions on offer.

Could it possibly the power of the agents who will be pushing to get these lads better deals than what we could offer. I.e. money.

A 40k fine in relation to MAF was not too harsh but I reckon the powers that be came down on us very lightly believing we had self inflicted a punishment on ourselves by signing him in the first place.

I want us to bring on our own youngsters of course but my point is that we should prioritise the use of players we bring up. No clubs at all seem to do this to a large degree. Again in the Utd Arsenal game today how many players started who came through their huge academies, a dozen between them? ten between them?

As a participation sport I can tell you it is a huge majority of people that participate in football. I used to be a sales mon selling line marking materials to local authorities for sports fields. Wigan Metro were a customer and without a doubt the vast majority of paint and powder that went all over the borough was to mark out football pitches. Same in Warrington, same in Leeds, same in Bradford and on and on. The myth needs to be destroyed. Sick of blinkered conceptions people get. Maybe its a media thing that gives such a poorly supported sport so much attention in proportion to other minority sports.

How many players started today for their Premier League sides that had come through that clubs academy? Ten from each match? Fifteen? Or more? Stattos please.

They probably made more money on that crowd because it would be 4,677 paying customers.
