Roberto won us the cup and he also got us relegated. If we had played our usual boring league football we may not have won the cup and if we had played the more cavalier style of football we did in winning the cup we may have stayed up. Its all ifs though. Meanwhile we have a relegation spot to climb out of on Tuesday and all our efforts as fans should be focusing on that.
Let us see if we keep a winning side and formation. May not as Wednesday have a different style to Leeds and hav’nt lost a lot of games.Or play them on a Wednesday at another sport in the Sheffield Shield.
Why is it being played on Tuesday? Why not tomorrow (Sunday). Would have been a better crowd.
Its hard to work out managers. We easily matched Middlesbrough and at times outplayed them so why not set the side up like he did against Boro last Saturday, injuries allowing?
That was crazy on Saturday. There shouldn’t even be a need to bring anyone in. I bet our relegation rivals must envy some of the players we have.
A world cup playing left back out on loan in Tenerife.
A proven goal scorer out on loan at Huddersfield.
One of the main stars in Scotland’s revival.
A Welsh international youngster.
Another world cup playing midfielder.
A Danish international.
A right sided midfielder with so much natural talent.
Scotland’s captain for years.
Even young Tavernier who can not get in our shambles would walk back in with open arms to the Rotherham side who out played us on Saturday.Sir Paul Jewel. Bronze statue at front of New Springfield please. Our greatest ever manager.
But it was the manager who played a consistently shite left sided midfielder as a lone striker. Also a right sided midfielder on the left. Started with no strikers on the field. Started with seven midfielders. Played Boycey in central defence where he couldn’t link up or overlap with Callum on the right. Played Maloney somewhere in midfield but not behind the makeshift striker.
However he got the substitutes about right and our shit strikers actually looked a little sharper and got into goal missing positions.
However I think it is time now for Dave Whelan to take a share of the blame for this unfolding disaster BUT the majority of blame should lay on the shoulders of some bone idle, un-professional, lazy, arrogant, overrated, underworked, players.
Malky certainly has his work on with this squad of below average journeymen who are simply not good enough but think they are.Mark H beaning himself telling others to go and get the old bill.
Moonay we got a good kickin off those octopuses that neet.
I geet one int gob at Morecambe in 1973. Serious hooliganism in the seventies. I remember the Rugby post after the second replay at Ewood against The Shrimps reporting the Latics fans being arrested with machetes etc.The Texaco Cup graced the shelves of Gallowgate in 1974. Mighty Toon never quite got over that and the club that probably has the biggest drawing number of fans on their doorstep from both large and small towns alike saw their average crowds drop to 16000 in 1981. That is probably the equivalent of Latics seeing crowds drop to 150.
Big gobbed and Big headed about SFA swarming around in their own arrogance and little Wigan have won more trophies in the last 2 years than the mighty Smash The Posts Up Banana throwing Sack The Board Toon have in 39 years. We were stuck with Leeds fans one side and Newcastle the other. I remember a mass game of football on Wembley car park with dozens of different shirts involved.
I wonder if something could take place like that again with the commercial aspect that has developed since then.Or one of McClean crap passes to go straight in.
Well he certainly isn’t a sparkling winger so it couldn’t do any worse up front.
Tav was The Millers star man last season so lets see if he can come back to haunt them from the stands or bench.
Dark time??? Just another time. Part of a club evolving. It cant always be amazing times at any club and this is one of those troughs that all clubs will go through when they are evolving. Who knows it might take us lower and at some stage we may be at Wembley and in Europe again. Wembley or Victory park is all part of watching our club and should we be at Victory Park again on a wet Tuesday night ,so be it and some of us will get the same buzz out of that as we did at Old Trafford in the Premier League. Not saying I want to see us again at Chorley but if we were there I would be with my club. Remember most of us daft buggers on here have been around a lot longer than Whelan Martinez Coyle Rosler and McKay and will still be there long after.
Heres to three points against The Millers whatever formation the Manager plays. He must have his reasons. He is employed to do these things. Bloody strange though because Both McClean and Espinoza don’t exactly set the world alight as midfielders never mind strikers! it sounds though that yet again it was sloppy defending that was the main problem.
