I thought he had dropped into the back 3 for us earlier in season for a game. Scharner has obviously changed tack as to what he really is and so hopefully he wont be getting caught out of position when marauding forward thinking he is a striker !

He’s an 18 year old young lad, a good prospect but right now we need players but experienced players who can get us out the shitte.I’m pretty sure you wouldnt have seen him this season , Ithink we should now concentrate on our new Academy setup and bring our own through which aint about feckin time considering how many years we’ve been in the prem ffs.

It’s the selling club that hold out for the best offer, then the player bides his time and susses out what’s going to be best for him.
They’ve been trying to get his one in for months but Barnsley have only accepted the offer today because it’s clear nobody is going to offer more, then the player has decided he wants to go to Everton instead.

Couple of things:You or I don’t know when the next bid was made. If they’d received a bid the day after and were mulling over it, they wouldn’t have announced it. They only announce accepted or rejected bids to alert other buyers.
And, as they had to up the bid they may have had to find the additional funds for it. Half a million quid is a lot of money and not something you have lying around.

Stone will have known about the interest from any club, Barnsley were hanging on to the bitter end for the best possible price.I think everton had probably enquired about him also, but only decided to make an offer for him after the deal with the belgian lad collapsed.
I honestly believe that all Evertons budget was tied up in that deal and we would have got Stone had that not happened
