Why would he pick him?

I’ve mentioned before – I actually saw him play for the Development Team a few weeks back. Lasted about an hour before he was subbed.

      He is not the Messiah.

No he is not the Messiah but clearly the strikers who have been picked week in week out are simply not scoring goals! Why not try something like him and Waghorn up front for the remaining games!

So who thinks that GC will pick his fellow Scotsman/Scot Billy Boy on Friday? Yeah, I know Malky was Scottish but he was clearly a fuckwit! :)

Nearly as bigger fuckwit as you, Billy Mckay is Irish!!
I thought he was Scottish! I hold my hand up! I stand firm on my Malky fuckwit comment though! ;)

It’s the leadership whose head is in the clouds. I can think of several experienced names that could fit the bill, but my gripe isn’t so much Gary (and him knowing and understanding our club is undoubtedly an asset).
My gripe is the process that yet again seems rushed and not thought through.

What experience has he really got? If he was the only candidate, why? Did we really not consider ANYONE else? And if he was such a shoe in, why hasn’t he been part of the 1st team coaching set up for a while to bed him in? Caretaker I get, but so quickly appointed as permanent? Baffling.

He has my support – MM never did – but like Fil I don’t see this ending well.

I’m quite sure others were considered and maybe even sounded out. You don’t really think all this has all happened on the spur of the moment beginning at five to five last night?
A quote from The Master Fryer….. Chairman David Sharpe said Caldwell was the only candidate we considered. After a meeting with him on Monday and discussions all day Tuesday, Gary was the only candidate we considered because we are so convinced of his qualities.

Reminds me of the Newcastle/Shearer business but without the massive fan adulation!

£660,000 for Fortuné ! Are they having a laugh! He is worth no more than £200,000 and I am being kind there!

Plenty of mentions of knee jerk reactions from fans on this news but is it not a knee jerk reaction from the club to appoint GC permanently? Yes we should get behind him even though it is akin to closing the gate once the horse has bolted but surely the decision to give him the job the day after MM got sacked is a little odd is it not? The backroom staff staying as well makes me think that the club are after ‘Yes Men’ This will not end well in my opinion!

The East Stand should be closed if you ask me, they close it for certain cup games

No – the South Stand is sometimes closed – not the East. That’s where the bulk of our S/T holders are.

Next season there won’t be many fans trust me! South and West stands will be enough!
Won’t look too clever on the telly – a completely empty stand.

They could go back to the old days. East Stand for away fans. North Stand as the Family Stand. South for drum banging dickheads and the Best in the West.
I think that would be the best idea, but split the east stand into home and away with moveable segregation under the concourse as well as in the stand. We don’t want to get into the same situation as we did when we played Reading the season we went up where only 500 away fans were in an 8,000 seater stand and home fans couldn’t get tickets. Other clubs do it this way so why not us?
Aye, another one of our calamitous mistakes! Biggest day of this club’s life and they didn’t think it through!

For rugby games the North & South stands are unreserved seating, which slightly reduces the capacity. Also there are a few seats in ES1 that cant be used because of the large screen sky put up in that corner.

You forgot to mention who won. You also forgot to mention that the crowd was 24054.

Try discussing why a 3pm kick off on a wet good Friday and a 3pm kick off on a sunny Easter Monday had almost 10,000 difference.

How was your Easter Monday? Was it as good as ours? :P

The East Stand should be closed if you ask me, they close it for certain cup games so why not save some money and have it closed for the majority of next season? Some games may require it to be open but not many!Put the family stand ticket holders in with the West Stand and get the singers and that lot back in the South Stand! In fact I don’t think there will be any use for the East Stand apart from the rugby!

I hope you haven’t joined the “we’re not a big enough club for higher divisions” brigade? Why not just let Leeds and Wolves into the PL and close shop?

The managerial shenanigans have been a result of, not the cause of, our poor results.

Boardroom confusion? It was always planned that DW would step down.

I didn’t think he would choose to step down mid-season when things were not going well and the shadow of the FA inquiry still hanging over the head of the manager! Complete shambles from top to bottom but some will still have the neck to say we are a little club and belong in lower league football! We had a great chance to establish ourselves as a Championship club at best with maybe the odd season or two in the Prem but the penny pinching soon put a stop to that! Whelan had Steve McClaren sat in his fucking office wanting the job of manager and he chose Owen Coyle!! Laughable, just laughable!

And Malky does it again but this time just Clarke on his own. Chance to put Waghorn on but puts Fortune on, end result no goals again.

The guy is a disgrace, no Waghorn, no actual sign of Sinclair so what’s the point.

Taking the piss out of the few hundred who travelled and spent a lot of money. Amazed some still go away.

Waghorn got 30 mins today and was totally shyte. I thought we actually improved when Fortune came on. If you don’t make scoring opportunities how the fek can you put them away?. To have a pop at MAF after that dour display by 9 or 10 players just shows that you have a massive chip on your shoulder.
So was there no team spirit or fight then? Did they look like dead men walking? Is my £450 safe? All these questions!
You appear to be answering your own questions these days Fil

There was plenty of fight but yet again when it was too late. I suppose you have to hold your hands up and say we were beaten by the better team. Mind you having said that, it took yet another deflected goal to win the game.
That attempt by McLean at the death must go down as the Sunday league moment of the season..WTF!! :woohoo:
I get lonely here on my own sometimes! I heard there were a few decent chances that went begging! I was going to work on Monday but I just have to be there just in case that 7+ month record comes to an end! I can only think of Derby ironically who have had a worse home record in recent years! :(
