Appointing a new manager who still hasn’t a win under his belt after 4 games and has now resorted to having no recognised striker on the pitch?

Don’t you think that’s because he didn’t inherit any recognised strikers and he sees more striker quality and chances of a goal in the likes of McManaman and McLean than Delort, Riera and Fortune? What exactly are his options up front for Saturday?
Head. Wall. Against. Wall.

Haven’t you realised yet that the obvious answer is to let a bunch of keyboard nerds pick the team and tactics because clearly letting someone with years of professional experience do it is a nonsense.

Blackpool have started to get points thats what.

We played 442 at home the other week, drew 0-0, didn’t have a shot on target.

I can make ridculous generalisations like you all day, if you want?

When you play a 4-4-2 formation you should consider strikers in the starting lineup !! :silly:

Perhaps he thinks they’re not worth putting in and
And how would you know this if you don’t play them from the start ?, doesn’t a new manager mean a level playing field for all ? fresh start. There are lots of players who don’t light up the training pitch but prefer a competitive match to show their worth. Delort has had roughly 7 minutes of play under MacKay and Reira ?.
I personally think this has nothing to do with the player himself but more to do with money and bonuses/appearances etc. All will be revealed in the Jan window were at least 4-6 players will be gone and one or two unlikely faces as well.

We should stop going on about the 1-2-3 or even none upfront debate, what about the defence ?? we’ve scored in 6 in our last 8 games but failed to keep a clean sheet in only 2. Some of the goals conceded would have been avoided over at Laithwaite park on a Saturday or a Sunday
I think the manager can make a good enough judgement about players he sees day in and day out on the training pitch. And, either way, it’s his choice.

As for the paragraph after that about money and bonuses, that’s some imagination you’ve got going on there.

Have a good night, I am off to watch a punk band, laters! :)

So, you’re 40 years out of date with your musical tastes as well as your football strategies, I see? ;)

Isn’t it just? None so blind, and all that… I’m giving up now. Had my last sensible “formation” discussion on this forum, now. I’ll just slip back to insulting everybody. They don’t like that, but at least they understand it. ;)

Just checked and 8 out of 14 Prem sides that played today started with 4-4-2 !
Nobody bothers with it anymore though do they! 6 out of the top 7 ( The other side didn’t play ) all played 4-4-2 but nobody bothers with it anymore!

Just because they play with 2 ‘recognised’ strikers doesn’t make it 442. It’s not table football with three rigid banks of players. Far too simplistic to say they play 442. It depends whether they have the ball or don’t have the ball how they position themselves.

Out of interest, how do you know that 6 prem teams played 442 today? Are you going off the Sky Sports captions on their website or something because you clearly haven’t watched all those teams play today>.

    Absolutely right, clueless.

He’s had 4 games now, and it’s still shite. Let’s get shut now, cut our losses and get Horc in asap

You and Horc would be better ! ;)
Don’t be stupid…

Horc would just get in the way. Mind you, he could put the cones out for me ;)

Perhaps he thinks they’re not worth putting in and he’s have more chance of goals with the midfielders he played there. Don’t know, just saying.

Formations are a load of bollocks most of the time as players get dragged out of position too easily! They may start in a certain formation but invariably it ends up being something completely different! Strikers these days are not necessarily the penalty area predators of old and so playing 2 strikers doesn’t have to mean 2 players right upfront! What I am trying to say is that it would be good to see 2 strikers starting but in a different set up, I feel there would be more options and contingencies with 2 forwards on the field as opposed to making substitutions! Anything has to be better than the lone wolf striker formation that we seem to have adopted with no fruition on the horizon as of yet!

So, maybe one target man, and one playing off him, a bit deeper? You could then have two wide men in an a more advanced position as support so you get an….err…..4-2-3-1 :P
They could mix it up a bit is what I was getting at! Waghorn is a striker but has predominantly been played out wide for us! My point is we should try starting games with two recognized strikers on the pitch!
Said this before, but I’m not sure we have two recognized strikers. There are very few that I recognize as strikers

So we can all move on.

He accepts he was wrong to say it, pleading guilty mitigates any penalty, grandson takes over, and the Press can move on to something else.

Hope not unless Whelan uses him as a puppet. The lad couldn’t run a chippy for FFS. :woohoo:
Better get used to it, because that’s the plan

Never had you down as a wine drinker griff, ah well here goes.

Being worked off my bloody feet during the xmas build up and every R D C making you wait fookin hours to tip you then another half a day while they check every soddin item.

Seventies xmas video’s, every year Roy Wood in that dopey long white beard and Slade singing while the audience wave them retro silk scarves. For fook sake move on.

Ant and flaming Dec, the annoying Geordie tosspots are on every programme, charity gig and bloody advert. With me working for a company in that neck of the woods the last thing I want to hear when I turn the box on is “why aye man divent ya nah it’s Christmas”

Boxing day sales. Get ready to be brainwashed with the avalanche of adverts coming to your screen very soon.

Pubs. Many shut on Christmas day when Iv’e had a gut full of family and would love somewhere to escape to.

Time off work is very nice mind so long live xmas.

    Not a bad five-for, that.

Thanks for that, though if I were you, I’d find something better to do with my time than look out for other people’s typos.
