At their current ability comparing the 2 is like mud to chocolate

What are you saying? They look alike, but one tastes significantly worse than the other?

in reply to: ellington the Duke #14755
I think the Duke might have gone on to be a similar kind of player. Nobody should peak at 24, if it wasn’t for his agent. He would have only improved and would be in his prime about now.

Comparing Ellington to Darren Bent, he could certainly have put the twit in Twitter

keep up griff it’s the DW now son.

What? Wigan have always played at the JJB, ever since i started watching them, when football began. :?

And P.S I don’t work in Burger King.

Hurrah, for the Burger King employee selection process :D

I’m afraid Martinez will not abandon his system. It’s no point keep going on about 442.

Oh, I don’t know – we did about 10 minutes of it at the end on Saturday, didn’t we? Or did I dream that?
Aye, like we did against Wolves, but its like shutting the proverbial stable door.
Granted, but according to some, Bob doesn’t even know what 442 is. So that’s another myth blown clean away. :D

Why doesn’t Martinez realise that against Sunderland when Rodallega went up front and N’Zogbia went to the left. We looked really dangerous and actually scored. When Rod was on the left and Zog on the right. We wouldn’t have scored in 24 hours.

D’you know, you’re right.

Get yourself down to the JJB now, turf Bob out his desk and get him to take over your shift at Burger King tonight.

not sure if scharner plays in the hole tbh. he seems to have a sort of roving role. he certainly contributes alot to the team and we would be worse of without him thats for sure.

For “in the hole” read that role that Gomez used to play, ie the midfielder that should link the rest of the midfield and the front one/two/none.

i wouldnt bet against him posting before jan. would you?

lets wait and see eh.

We’ll see him tomorrow.

scharner is the best player we have at the moment – but he is not a midfielder, he should be at center half with the captains armband on that is no disrespect to melchiot but something must change.

Now, in terms of effectiveness and effort anyway, we agree on something :D

Sadly though, it appears that, after Gomez, the manager feels his only option is to play Scharner out of position in the hole, which speaks volumes for his trust in Gomez, Koumas and Kapo, et al. This is why I think we will see very little changing until January at the earliest.

Oh, and I think N’zogbia is doing OK at the moment, as well as Bramble.

I’ll be back in January/February, to see who is wrong and who is right.

Have a rip-roaring Christmas, and a happy new year.

All the very best, everybody.

Merry Christmas chaps and chappesses.

and for anyone familiar with dale carnegie(im expecting griff to respond here)dont throw any of his other books like How to Stop Worrying and Start Living back in my face, ive had soundbites from them all shoved down my throat by gurus in shirt sleeves and braces over the years.

As a MHM stalwart might say: “Is there any shagging in it?”

Nope, not familiar with his work. Are they about someone who continually makes the same points over and over again in the vain hope that everyone will eventually agree with him? ;)

But no Griffo, I’ll sit back now and await January.

Is it asking too much to give it all a rest until January too?

in reply to: Clowns #14687
January is the crunch time, as far as I am concerned. Either he’ll bring the right players in, and will be backed up by his chairman, or else it will be apaprent that he is out of his depth. Cruel? Harsh? No. To use a phrase used by Whelan in the past “Time and tide waits for no man”. Well, wait long enough, and we might just sink.

So why don’t you all stop moaning and wait until January then?

Ha ha, so will I mate..
and I don’t even have to work in grubby little pubs.

Cheers

So will I, see you all tomorrow for the day shift.

Griff, do you honestly not think we are in trouble, with the way that we are playing? I have you down as an intelligent bloke to be honest, so it surprises me a bit.

In trouble? I had us down for being relegated about 4 seasons back, so I’m very relaxed about the situation. Bobby said himself this week (before the game) that we need 4 new players. So let’s see if they come and who they are in January. There’s nowt we can do before then except sack the manager and that won’t happen.

As a wise man once said to me – worrying doesn’t alter the outcome.

Oh, and I am intelligent. Proper breet.
