If Bob had have let the players play the way they did in the FA Cup then we may well have been entertaining Chelsea today in the annual relegation dogfight. Just ask Lostock and Horc they endured much more of his dull as dishwater negative bilge than I could face at the time.

Why would any of us bother listening to them, any more than we would bother listening to you?
Spot on Donny.
Don’t take notice of any sweeping brush closet Mancs !
I edited this for clarity and understanding Lostock. I hope you don’t mind.

With a name like Billy I some how reckon the lad wouldn’t exactly see himself as Oirish.

I’m guessing his family are quite fond of the colour orange.
…and with that tenuous link I suppose now is the time to start a rumour that my mates’ cleaners husband, who grooms the dog of dad of the ballboy who was walking past at the time says that the problems in the dressing room are down to McClean and Billy (don’t be a hero).

Well it’s more believable than some of the tripe that’s been posted recently.

;)
Please do elucidate on the ‘tripe’ comment!
No

Where’s all this Eric Black bashing coming from?

He only came back to the club in July and since Mackay was appointed, he’s been virtually invisible on matchdays.

He was highly thought of when Bruce was our manager, and he’s a well-respected coach.

Are people confusing him with David Kerslake – who was always prominent in the technical area on matchdays? Black was the one sitting down, who Mackay never consulted.

Barrow knocking I can understand (although he was rated by Martinez), but not Black.

Standish, I cannot get my head round why Eric Black seems to have gone backward with his career. I remember him being at Cov and the general census was that he was on his way to the top. Yet another reputation in tatters after coming here it appears. To be honest I thought he would someday manage us but for whatever the reason ( probably Barrow) he has not stepped up has he?.
I think Eric Black is a very good example of good coach but poor manager. Kenny Swain is of course the major example – a very good coach (as is seen by his England Youth role) but an awful manager. The roles are very different.

Black was only manager at Coventry from December to May. Alongside a manager who seemed to know what he was doing – Bruce – Black flourished, but on his own maybe not so good.

Hopefully he will provide great support to Caldwell.
That’s a fair observation Garswood, and to put the record straight (SW), for me, I wasn’t having a go or ‘bashing’ Black I was merely pointing out that the support role that these two have had over the previous years hasn’t worked and it was time to see a whole change in management personnel. There is a lot to be said about managers who, when appointed, want to bring in their own staff, as there is already an understanding of methodology, clear lines of communication, training etc and I don’t think that keeping these two on the pay roll has helped any of the previous 3 managers, whatever anyone thinks of their (managers) competencies. I think it was a decision based on finance (possibly to offset costs of the appointments) and, dare I say, misplaced loyalty. Whatever the reasons behind all of this over the years (which we will never know about for sure) it has been a factor in where we now find ourselves, in my opinion of course.

For those who have said that it was a well thought out process I ask, why did Gary say in an interview that he was “surprised” to be offered the job?

Like others, I will still get behind the man and team, however, I am still unsure about the appointment. If, as had been mooted earlier, Makay had been under the threat of the sack since the Reading game, then the management should have been thinking at that time, or before, about who they intended to replace him with. At that time they could have made ‘polite’ enquiries around the game and been ready with that choice. Now then, because they have not done this, I believe that it was always their intention to give the job to Gary ‘when’ the time was appropriate.

Is he the man to lead us in the next season? Well I don’t know, but I would support a more substantial appointment in the Summer with Gary as the number 2 and letting Barrow and Black leave to follow new careers. Let’s hope that that scenario happens with us still in the Championship.

my daughter at 10 years old knows more about midfield than him

wow.

Be careful Mr Arkwright, I believe that the Met Police have an Operation already set up for observations of this type.

One for the conspiracy theorists :-)

WHY is Malky not playing Waghorn ? …
WHY is he persisting with Perch in Midfield for Kvist ?
WHY is he persisting with Fortune ?
Why is he not playing Perch instead of Boyce at RB
Why has be brought in an influx of young raw loan players with no experience ?
Why are the players not looking like they are even arsed if we go down ?
Why has he not tried new formations and tactics to deal with the goal scoring issue ?

Controversial, but what if the direction from the top is to not actually try to avoid relegation .. Where were Whelan’s famous dressing room talks this season when he was chairman, where is his normal column inches he used to fill in the WEP about getting behind the town etc. ?? Perhaps If we get relegated, its an ideal position to balance the books again, the start of the new academy, different strategy altogether ?

I know this sounds stupid saying that the club doesn’t seem to bothered about us being relegated, but can you see anyone busting a gut to get us out of the mess, both on or off the field ? We have been subdued ALL season, something is a miss.

Have you any idea about how to manage, run and the economics of business?

OR

Have you any idea?

Oh well!! I’m claiming a 2 1 win… Feckin liners

That fat fecker running the line on the West side was totally incompetent. Off the pace most of the time as he clearly couldn’t keep up with the game. Unfit, as he was constantly mopping his brow and sucking air. But more importantly, was always looking for reassurance from the ref before taking decisions for fouls and throws. I’m not bitter, however, sometimes I feel that the animosity felt against us has spread to the officials as well and maybe (just maybe) it clouds their professional decisions. It just seems to be happening a little too often these days.

Hows that for a little conspiracy theory.

Are you Clarke Carlisle? You haven’t been around for a while and missed just as much.

I think he’s just taken his time to whittle down the evidence to ensure he has come to the right conclusion about Dave.

Really ? I think you should watch the game or the at the least the TV highlights, his fairy arse jump for knockdown header challenge was to blame for the 3rd and McCann doing his strictly come prancing for the 2nd

What???
I’d suggest that you watch the highlights again if you think Kvist was to blame for either of those goals.
For the second he slides in to prevent Wilson getting hold of the ball on the edge of the penalty area. At the time he receives the ball, McCann doesn’t have a Bournemouth player within 3 yards of him and has the opportunity to play a first time ball to either Kim or McClean. His first mistake is not doing that & he then compounds that by inexplicably trying to drag the ball back & turn back on himself. In no way shape or form was Kvist at fault for that goal – his only involvement was winning a good challenge which not only prevented Bournemouth’s top scorer getting hold of the ball but also played it out to a Latics player who had the opportunity to start a counter attack. McCann’s lack of awareness of what was going on around him both in an attacking & defending sense was where the blame lies

As for the 3rd, yes he’s beaten in the air & possibly should be stronger in that challenge but that is always hard to do when the opposition player has forward momentum whilst you’re trying to hold a more stationary position. Even after he loses that challenge Ridgewell than rushes in & gets far too close to Wilson followed by Barnett allowing himself to be too easily brushed aside once Wilson had flicked it on
That’s all well and good but, how else was cup winners going to get his ‘strictly come prancing’ pun into the post. Poor lad must have been sat up all night sweating and hoping that nobody else gets to use it before he had the opportunity.

Looks like everybody is dumbstruck by what we have become! Less than 2 years ago we were holding aloft the FA Cup and still in the Premier League, albeit only just, something that many couldn’t have even dreamt of and now we are on the brink of football oblivion, because let’s face it no one gives a flying fuck about anything lower than The Championship, apart from respective lower league club’s fans that is! Some would argue that no one gives a flier about anything lower than the Premiership but at least while you are in the Championship you still have that incentive to hopefully one day be involved with all the big names in football! Like it or not ( And I particularly didn’t ) but the Prem is what brings in the punters, it is what gets people talking and it also has that other little incentive, shit loads of money for your club!
All the so called ‘Johnny Come Latelys’ have gone now bar a few hangers on but they too will be gone if we drop to League One and we shall be left with the hardcore, the old skool who will already be salivating at the prospect of visiting loads of shite grounds to evoke memories of bygone days, well the Prem and FA Cup are now bygone days, days that I feel will never be upon us again, well not in my lifetime! It’s been fun but now it’s the turn of the low times, enjoy!

But only if the those “shite grounds” have had the cash to upgrade the ground facilities to include access for their mobility scooters.

Having money, fame & adulation are no barriers against mental illness

No, I understand that. My implication is that the above could probably be attributed to his mental illness. Sometimes people have too much and are so blinkered that they lose sight of reality and then the void opens and in they fall. What I am saying is that his condition could have been avoided.

PS: (and this is not aimed at you fella) it’s so good to see that the karma buttons still work.
