Just driven along Frog lane and witnessed a closed up Colliers (SAMs) and an almost empty Pear tree pub which were both rammed full well into the evening in our premier league days.
Have you not seen the massive lemming like behaviour at the bridge over the cut – it’s going to take the council days to get all the bodies out.
Did they get booed off at the end? I had more important things to be getting on with and so I had vacated the stadium early for a change!! I believe the Goodison faithful turned on Bobby midweek as well and booed his shower of shite off the pitch after a disappointing draw with that relegation fodder outfit Hull City!Disclaimer- I do not boo myself but I do believe it is a fan’s prerogative, seeing as it is the fans who shell out lots of their hard earned cash to watch players stealing a living like I witnessed today! Shocking performance!
I’m sorry filmoss but you are totally wrong with that observation. They are not stealing a living they positively mugged everyone for their hard earned today. There was a time in the second half when three players were all off side – the crowd let them know and not one of them put in any effort to correct it.
The problem is still with the players I fear – some think they are too good to be at Wigan, some think they are better than they actually are and some are just too arrogant to take instruction from the manager as if they know better. They need to get their combined heads together and give them a shake.
Malkays’ CV speaks volumes about his past successes, he is no mug but I think he may be treading a little light on the players because of what has recently gone on and some of the players are taking advantage – they need to learn that they remain paid servants to the club – and learn bloody quickly too.
When will he learn, I watched it and was on pins waiting for another slip of the tongue. Luckily he came through unscathed
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/30338539Why didn’t he mention about the text been private and the FA’s previous statements regarding private text and how they don’t get invloved
Rio Ferdinand want’s to remember before he blasts off he’s was a twitter sent for all to see not like that nob at Liverpool , MacKays was private.
It’s really sickening how this has turned into a Witch Hunt by the BBC and Daily Mail. My grandson was telling me of a Family Guy episode (he’s a big fan) where the lead (Peter Griffin) sang a song called “I need a Jew” to the tune of “When you wish upon a star”. I googled it and watched it and decided that if Mr Whelan can be taken to task for his error of judgement then the BBC (who have aired this episode several times I am led to believe) should be treated in the same way. Will we see that happening – somehow I don’t think so.
Also no one has mentioned the “Throw the Jew down the well” song played on the Borat film. Is this a case of one rule for the untouchable BBC and another for the common man (no pun intended).
The sooner the FA realise that more offensive stuff has passed and been aired, in public and in recent times then puts this case in the bin, where it belongs, the better. They can then go about their ways pontificating about how they will make the system better for the future so that this type of incident does not happen again – but exonerate him, they must.
Makes perfect sense to me. Both clubs will presumably have done their research and established that they have probably already tapped the local market as much as they are likely to for this season and so are aiming to spread their net a bit wider.Still, Mr Kerr, let’s not let a bit of reasoned, commercial thinking get in the way of a gratuitously, ill-informed pop at the club, eh?
Now I do like that.
and forshaw is one of many bad signings by rosler
How can he win Div1 Player Of The Year award then be so poor on a regular basis ?. If we drop down keep him , it must be his level
What do we do with him in the meantime because he is shite!
Agreed. Dop him and put Espinoza in
Now you’re talking lad. I knew you would mellow in the end ;)
Personally I have a lot of respect for Clarke Carlisle and Jason Roberts who work tirelessly to rid football and society of Racism and discrimination in general and funnily enough equal respect with many who have got on to the anti- Whelan bandwagon. There is no room in society for racism, sexism, homophobia and discrimination against sexual orientation, disability or religion. Problem is the protesters are always seen as the loudest voice and common sense seems to get lost along the way. It is easy to shout, but everyone who shouts out their protestations should look at themselves first and they will find that none of us are totally squeaky clean.
Keep up the good work Clarke and Jason but keep it balanced and somewhere mention the fine work Latics and Whelan have done to become North West community club of the year and equally the fine work Latics and Whelan have done for the Kick it Out campaign.Good work my arris. They have done nothing but fan the flames of their agenda driven diatribes to further their own standing within the PFA and Kick It Out. They neither want balance nor the application of common sense in this matter – to me it’s a clear case of ‘hey! look at me – I want to be a somebody who people will fear if they mention even the slightest thing controversial’. If they wanted balance then they would have already mentioned that the club had been awarded, after 18 months of being monitored, from Kick It Out the:
“Preliminary level of Kick It Out’s Equality Standard for Professional Football Clubs, which provides a framework that encourages and supports the development of equality practices and policies at professional clubs.” – taken from WiganLatics.co.uk.
and as recently as being awarded just before the Birmingham game.
Further, the closing sentiments from our very own Lisa Nandy are (well make up your own mind):
Wigan MP Lisa Nandy has congratulated Wigan Athletic for the award from Kick It Out and said: “This award is fitting recognition for the good work Wigan Athletic does both in our community and in creating an inclusive environment at the stadium.”
“Football has a special ability to bring people together and we can all be proud of the work Wigan Athletic do in promoting that message of unity.”
This all comes from the Chairman down to ball boys/girls.
So NO – Carlisle you and yours can take a running jump. He is nothing to me, his comments and opinions are worthless and if he thinks he represents the Kick It Out organisation then he has greatly miscalculated.
I would never boo any of our players. He will have to do a lot better than he did when was here before though, because he wasn’t very good – whatever the reason.
Totally agree, and maybe the reason has moved on.
Why boo him? He was obviously cold shouldered, and when he did play was left alone when he is clearly a player who lives off chances set up.I have heard it said from some quarters that they thought he never really tried and felt that Wigan was a team below his talents – those would be the ones to boo him. Me? I would welcome him back, it’s another option the manager could have – however, how many options/choices does he need, after all it has been said that we have too large a squad as it is?
I’ve read some interesting comments on Cardiff City’s boards. Seem they are very anti Vincent down there and Latics with the Malky link has been discussed on a number of occasions with mixed views.
I have never done one of these link things before so if this doesn’t work have a look at City’s Vital boards.
Doesn’t look like Tan is very popular in South Wales.
http://www.cardiffcityforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=150635Looks like they have changed their minds then. This for me is the last straw. I could handle the scandal about the texts, I could handle the spite and vitriol dished out by cheap junior hacks in the press, I could handle the chants from other fans when they come to our ground – but THIS. This is totally unforgivable and I don’t know whether he can ever come back from this – truly appalling.
If he comes anywhere near our supporters club then I’m running on to the pitch to throw my season ticket at him and stick two fingers up to everyone.
So this IS a football thread then is it? I shall bear that in mind for future references! I wouldn’t mind normally but other threads have been moved in the past despite having tenuous links but this thread is fuck all to do with football!
Why don’t you start a poll on whether it should be moved or not.
I vote yes.
And – ‘POOF’ – so it all happened like magic.
Labour are more toty these days than Maggie Thatchers lot back in the 80s.
I don’t think it’s very PC to call Ms Nandy “toty” ;)
Didn’t have Mrs Thatcher down as someone to appoint a female asian MP anyway, never mind anyone who could be construed as toty.
Agreed. More interested in surrounding herself with paedophiles.
Indeed Sammy, but it didn’t stop there. The real ‘crimes’ against children were exposed under Blair. Have a read of this little article:
Within this well written expose comes these two little phrases:
“Tony Blair: stifling investigations of paedophiles in his Labour government”
and
“Under Blair’s government paedophiles get off with a slap on the wrist and never seem to suffer the full weight of the law – no shock there then!”
It concludes with a list of disgraced people convicted for horrific offences – I noted the numerous Labour among them. It appears that Thatcher didn’t start the craze but was just a part of it – they were/are all in it together.
Finally, just finished watching that programme on Channel Four 7 called “It’ll be alright in the 70’s” – outrageous by todays standards, however, if Lord Ousley and his cohorts watched it then they would understand context in what has happened recently.

It could be brought up in pmq’s tomorrow in that fine institution that is the commonsIf it does appear in PMQ’s I wouldn’t miss John Bercows’ input for all the tea in China.
The only slight difference between the two is that Mackay used a Cardiff City mobile phone account to send/receive his texts, whereas Scudamore’s were sent/received using a personal email address.Same horse, different jockey if you ask me, but I’m sure some £500 an hour lawyer will be able to twist it in the FA’s favour should they wish to.
Yep the overpaid leech that would represent in court could probably twist and turn it, but so could a leech representing our club.
I have thought of that and wondered where does the line start and stop. If I were to have a private conversation in my office with a mate of mine, or I wrote a joke on a piece of headed paper for my own uses after (as an aide memoire for example) could the institution still claim intellectual rights over their air space or paper supply.
In my opinion the medium used is irrelevant, the content of the correspondence was private, it should have remained so and the same should be found as it was for Scudamore.
Yep – well said Griff
Yep, puzzled me, too
Are you two all loved up now? :pinch:
Yeah, he’s alright now he’s stopped acting the prick ;)
Too painful for you was it! ;)
