Broke the bank again. Why wont they come, money or martinez?
Many players have said they love playing under Martinez (Maybe a litte bit OTT) but I do not think ANY of it comes down to Martinez.
I believe money will be the main factor, but also the clubs position in the league, attendances etc will all player a bigger part in it than Martinez himself, in my opinion.
P.s I don’t understand why you started a thread on this, it is obviously NOTHING to do with Martinez.
He would have been a wigan player now if the toffee’s had not of pulled out of this deal due to a players medical imo of course
Everton have decided to end their interest in FC Twente midfielder Leroy Fer.
The Toffees announced yesterday that they had agreed a fee with their Dutch counterparts for the 23-year-old.
However, reports over the last few hours had claimed that the deal was being held up because the Everton medical staff were concerned with a knee problem that had shown up on Fer’s medical tests.
Despite attempts to renegotiate a fee with Twente which would have been based upon appearances, the Premier League outfit have now opted to pull out of the deal.
“It’s a real shame. We were really excited about the prospect of Leroy Fer coming to Goodison,” the club’s chief executive Robert Elstone told Sky Sports News. “We thought only 24 hours ago that we had a very talented Dutch international coming here.
“The transfer didn’t go smoothly in the end and there were some issues. As our fans would expect, we have to put the club first. Our track record shows that we do that very well.
“Unfortunately it didn’t work out and that is because we have to be very careful about where we spend our money.”
Elstone went on to confirm that the club have now turned their attention to “alternative options”.
Really?
They play in completely different positions & are worlds apart in terms of what they offer to a team.
I don’t see why they’d say “We’ve missed out on this international standard holding midfielder.. so we’ll go for this young right back instead – same thing!”
My guess is they would’ve signed them both if they could.
Agreed
Doubly agreed.

“We had to rely on” The clue is in that sentence ! In other words we got out of jail with that late winner and they were better than us ! Have you ever seen a game where the best team on the day gets beat ? Am I getting through yet !!!!
No, you arent getting through, and you won’t, for one reason, and that reason being that you are wrong!
We beat Reading, so what if we relied on a late goal, we beat them!
I am no longer going to comment on this thrad (If I can help it) as I am getting p1ssed off.
But when the Glazers buy a club with debt/thin air that is now worth $3 Billion pay themselves a chunky yearly dividend prop up all there failing malls with their “asset” and then at the end of it will sell it on at a ridiculous profit is it the players who are really taking the p*ss?My point being if its not in Rooneys pocket its in the Glazers and I think Rooney deserves it more than they do.
I would possibly agree if you replace the name ‘Rooney’ with virtually every other footballer (Some exclusions of course, mainly utd players) .. B)
I don’t think Rooney is a good player, most over-rated player in the world. :)
I’m personally don’t mind we missed out on Stones. He’s an 18 year old young lad, a good prospect but right now we need players but experienced players who can get us out the shitte.
I’m pretty sure you wouldnt have seen him this season , Ithink we should now concentrate on our new Academy setup and bring our own through which aint about feckin time considering how many years we’ve been in the prem ffs.
I was wondering why we were pursuing such a young player who we definitely would not have seen for several months when our defensive shortcomings are there for all to see. Threadbare and prone to numerous errors yet neither seem to have been addressed ?
We persued him now as if we didn’t he would gone elsewhere, so we tried to sign him before another ‘Big’ club did, which would then leave us with no chance of ever being able to persue him again (I know he signed for Everton anyway but that’s not the point). So we treid to get hold of him when we had the chance, and fair play to the club for doing so. It seems as though we were unlucky.
Also he may have featured this season, he is 18 I know but weirder things have happened than an 18 year old playing in the Prem. B)
I suspect you know full well what I meant by not seeing him for several months because RM does not like throwing kids in at the deep end and he has quoted that ! We needed to shore up the defence now and I know what you mean re one for the future but our future in the Prem is at stake here and so an immediate fix was needed in my opinion. Scharner is RM’s answer and so we must respect that I guess but I have my reservations ! The fat lad out on the left wing concerns me ! ;)
I do know what you mean regarding the possibility of not seeing him for a while, but at RWB he may not have actually needed to be that solid and ‘experienced’, just keep position and get a cross in ;) .. I do think we may have seen him play occasionally sooner than you would have thought, but gues we will never know.
And the fat lad on the left must concern everybody! Worst player we have currently. Dogshit B)
we play Chelsea on the 9th feb at their place.
Why should we fear them if they can’t beat Reading -worst team I’ve seen this season!
keep the faith !What does that say about us? Seeing as the sit above us !
Well, it could say we are worse than they are. It could say we are unluckier than they are. Or, it could say we’ve missed most of our defence for large parts of the season through injury.
Although, in actual fact, it doesn’t say anything whatsoever about us at all!
Reading the worst team you have seen this season, who knocked 2 past us at our gaff and we had to rely on a last gasp winner in what was a shocking display on the whole ! What does it say about us ? Well taking into consideration our respective league positions at this present juncture combined with the aforementioned game, I would say we are about on a par with each other !
Look at the 2 highlighted points. You contradict yourself. They may still be the worst team that has played here this season. Fair enough they ‘knocked 2 past us’.. but as you state later in the post it was a ‘shocking display on the whole’ so the fact they did knock 2 past us has no effect on what is being said. Also considering it was a ‘shocking display on the whole’ we still won, so basically that could easily back up the point that you’re disagreeing with, as we don’t beat many (if any) teams when we play poorly!
I didn’t say they were the worst team ! read the posts properly James before jumping in !
Edit- Crossed wires here I think. All I will say is I don’t think they are the worst team I have seen at DW this season and at the end of the day no matter how many excuses we have they are above us in the league !
I know you didn’t say they were the worst team!! I was disagreeing with you!! That was the point of my whole post! Do you even read anything?!
I was agreeing with the guy that said they were the worst team, and you saying we had a bad performace (And still beat them) just backs that up as we never beat teams when we play badly. So you contradicted yourself.
I think you need to read the posts properly before responding with drivel!!

Would you say Rooney is worth £250,000 a week ?
No.
Seconded again Wallstock, I think he is very over-rated. Don’t like him.

If Diame deserves an 80k/week salary, then I’m pretty sure I should be raking atleast 10k/week in.
80k a week?! Aint nobody got time for that!!
But in seriousness :P I didn’t say he deserved 80k a week, I don’t think anybody did, but whether he deserves it or not, my point was that he probably will find somebody willing to pay it to him.
At least use the effing meme James, you lazy git…
;)
And I know you didn’t say he deserved it, I was just pointing out that it would be absolutely mental if he ever got it..
It will be mental, but I am pretty confident he will get it, especially if Redknapp goes back in for him. :(

I am concerned that we didn’t fortify the defence, that to me was paramount !
What about Scharner?
That is like putting Jones in defence !
How?
I’d like to second Ronnie Wallstocks post… How is it like putting Jones in defense. I don’t even see the link
He has not signed a new contract that West Ham offered him he his holding out for £80 grand a week he sure learns quick does Momo
And people have questioned why we didn’t do more to try and keep him?
I’d say this answers that question.
This ‘Rumour’ that he is holding out for 80k a week answers no questions..
But to be fair, if it is true he will probably get it somewhere. If Samba can manage to get 100k a week i’m sure Diame will get paid 80k somewhere.
Still have a striker void and have for a while, henriquez not the answer .Could always drag Windass out of retirement. Why isn’t Henriquez the answer then??
Can you have lasagne without garlic bread?
Yeah I always do!! B)
Spag Bol on the other hand.. Garlic bread is a MUST ;)
