I think the ‘that we have played’ should give the answer, we haven’t played either of those in the league, missin Southampton when we crossed over into the Prem 04/05 and Sheff Wed when we were promoted to the Championship 02/03.

Tick tock, the clock is ticking as we move nearer to the day football implodes.if Dave keeps our house in order as he has done so far hopefully we will survive, but I fear many are on the slippery slope.
Players have become too powerful, clubs have got to start sticking up for themselves more, and tell them to f*ck off.
I have been saying it for a while now, NO player is worth £70,000+ per week, I struggle to make myself beleive that they are worth that a year.
The money from revenues should be going back into the the Football Clubs and dare I say back into Football itself.
There are people on all sorts of boards and commissions wondering where the next ENGLISH stars are going to come from, look no further than the lack of funds going in to academies in the various Football Clubs and into grass roots via the FA, because the players and agents milk an astonishing 70+% of it all.
It wouldn’t be too bad if just some of these players would publically show that they give something back to the sport that gives them their millionaire lifestyle, but except for Christmas, contracted (paid for) appearances and exceptional circumstances we see nothing.
Is there anybody out there, apart from players and agents, who can give a reason why they are allowed to bleed the sport dry?
Try to stay away from the ‘its the players that get the results’, ‘its the players that sell the shirts’ or ‘its because of the players that the money is on the sport’. At the end of the day it is me, you and everybody who goes to games and/or watches the sports channels that make football a success, as a straw poll, would our attendances or revenues go up if say Rooney decided to sign for us… I think not.

I would imagine that the tickets will be on sale right up until the ticket office is told to stop selling all tickets, which if you are on the database is up until kick off.
But if you go Friday you should be OK

What the ‘experts’ think

As there are over 35 million football players in the World, there is only a select few that make it to play in the Top Flight teams in the World (I am sorry but you are going to have to get your head around us being a Top Flight Team).
Those 35 million players are trying to earn a professional place of which there less than 300,000 available in the World. It is common sense that an extremely low percentage of players make it and so therefore the chances of playing for your local team are really short odds.
Latics are not the only team in this situation it across the board, how many Manchester born players play for City or United, how many Everton born players play for Everton, hoe many Liverpool born players play for Liverpool, the same can be asked about all Top Flight Football teams.
I am not going to compare it to Rugby League, as there are no comparisons. I am guessing that there are only 300,000 that are even interested in the Sport worldwide never mind play it or want to earn a pro contract at it.
In answer to your question, which is rhetorical as you know the answer, there are no Wigan born players in the current first team, however there are around 50 that play at the academy and hopefully we will see one or two of these prove themselves good enough to play in the Top Flight.
There are local if not from Wigan itself players about, 2nd year pro Jonathan Routledge (has appeared in first team), Joe Holt and first year pro Callum McNanaman (also appeared in first team) have come through the system and looking good to be involved in the future.
Some for the next few years are Thomas Amos, Keenen Gracey, Josh Langley, Jordan Rugg, Jonathan Crane, Jon Breeze, David Mayer, Daniel Lambert, Adam Buxton, Steven Boothman, Callum Williams, Lee Nichols and Sean Myler. Only time will tell if these will make it or not.
As it is, we are playing in a Worldwide sport and we want to pick the best players we can, if the Wigan born players can’t make it to that top 0.01% then we are going to look elsewhere. I can safely presume that all the players in RL come from the towns that play the game right? The difference is quite obvious, with only a few towns to get players from, more local talent will be found.
Do we have to apologise for competing n the most widely played sport in the world? Or should we play just the Wigan or local lads and end up where some of the Warriors supporters feel we belong – life was much easier for them when all the limelight was on the Rugby team wasn’t it! (Statement not question)

We have only lost one game in the last seven.
Only conceeded 4 goals in the last seven games (after a disastrous start)
We beat Spurs
We’re in the last 16 of the Carling Cup
We are financially OK due to good management
N’Zogbia is looking like he is bothered
McCarthy looks to be a belter
Al Habsi is performing superbly
8 points from 7 games, better than the point a game average we need
Alcaraz looks the part, possibly better than Bramble
Caldwell yet to play and so will strengthen when fit
Options on the bench with Moses and others chomping
at the bit
Boselli and Di Santo will hopefully hit the ground soon
Playing against two teams we should be beating next
Gomez has had a good game and looks like he can build on it.
We aren’t in Liverpool’s current predicament
The pitch looks goodFA Cup Winners 2013, sounds good that
No apology.
If that is the best they can come up with, I can safely say that I am never going to get overly upset over anything I may read on there.
I actually have a feeling they were confusing me with Roberto in that photo, as I am whiter than white, no hint of orange at all, plus I have no hair!!!!

It must be said that what Karen said to the BBC reporter was totally different to what was printed, I see they have retracted some of the article now….

has been spray painted blue :lol:If this is true it is stupidity at its highest level.
The sign issue has always been about the disrepect of the council towards Wigan Athletic, what does this show?
Acts of vandalism don’t show the club or its real fans in a very good light do they??
