I listened to the game on Sunday from my talksport app in Dusseldorf. Hope we have the same result when your there!

Yeah I agree that he should play. He wants to get at his man and get to the byline, which nobody has done since moses left, apart from Boycey getting forward from Right Wing Back.

I think he would have to drop di santo to get him into the side as he won’t play him instead of Jean who offers more defensively and Martinez seems to rate highly.

You all seem to be forgetting that the majority of this team went on to finish tenth in the premierleague 3 years later.

I like Caldwell but I cant believe people genuinly think he is better than Matt Jackson. Jacko would be fantastic in this team pushing up out a back 3 to go and play like Caldwell tries to do.

I’d have Bullard over any midfielder at the club.

Ellington over any forward just about.

And I would have Nicky Eaden over Ronnie Stam ;)

in reply to: Stam #100242

His mistake Almost cost that hard won point yesterday and this will continue if the club continues with the ‘make do and mend policy’.
Ramis injury is a bitter blow and it’s ironic that the players the club paid cash out for last summer are not available at the moment.
They need to get some business done a s ap to shore up the weakness of that defence.

for the sake of consistency, and if you were at the game (I was) you’ll find Ramis (Wigan’s own Usain B) was done yet again (for pace /trickery) in the pen area in 2nd half and got away with it thanks to his defence.

Stam’s ‘error’ no worse.

Figueroa’s clearance fantastic; probably his most significant contribution this season (points impact).

And very much in keeping with what’s required from ALL 11 from now on in – commitment to the cause etc.
Got to say i think that Ramis is a good defender and has done well for us this season. Our defence will be weaker without him.

Ronnie stam on the otherhand is awful hopefully he will be gone in the summer never to be seen again!

He has the intial N for his daugher. Someone asked him on twitter a few days ago. Not a fan of having anything but a players name on the back of their shirts myself. Chicharito and all that rubbish gets on my wick.

Spot on Vince Hill. To say we can’t go any further is stupid also filmoss. Look at what Swansea are doing at the minute it can be done!
Up the tics

in reply to: How Do You Rate Ali Al Habsi To The Rest ? #97747

Got to disagree I think Ali is one of the best in the league. He is having a bad patch at the minute but I think we would be planning a trip to Peterborough etc if it wasn’t for him. The mistake he made against Reading overshadowed the fact that he made a world class save at 1 nil to keep us in the game.

1. Hart
2. Mignolet
3. Friedel
4. Al Habsi
5. Howard

A few years ago I would of had Reina and Cech at the top of the pile but I both think they have gone off the boil to an extent.

I agree that Hart is possibly the best in the prem at the moment. Although I do rate Al Habsi I wouldn’t put him in the top 5, he’s just a good shot stopper really little unstable otherwise. Just a difference of opinion that’s all. Don’t get me wrong i’m very happy for him to be between our posts, but I think there are plenty better.

Completely agree regarding Cech and Reina, they have gone off the boil.. But to put Al Habsi ABOVE them is ridiculous.
We’ll agree to disagree, I honestly think Al Habsi has been better than these 2 over the past 2 seasons. I dont get how you can see otherwise especially regarding Reina unless you are just looking at the name or going off Football Manager’s latest stats!

I think Martinez will be reluctant to change the system, it took him 2 and half years to change the other one! So think he will throw in young Golobart to go alongside Lopez and Boyce. Doesnt breed confidence that back 3!

in reply to: Bob has not been offered the liverpool job #88085

I think he would want to get rid of him for the compensation he would get from Liverpool. He would then try to get in an unattached manager. Money made. The fact he says he wants to stay around for 4 more years is interesting. Does he want to stay as he expects us to get relegated next year then he can pick up the parachute money for the next 3 years in the Championship which would prove more profitable than the Premierleague money as he would be paying out much less in wages??

The fact that Whelan is effectively pushing Martinez out the door is very aggravating. That could be making Roberto’s mind up about the move when he could of been unsure.

in reply to: Bob has not been offered the liverpool job #88082

Why is Whelan sounding off when he obviously doesn’t have a clue about what’s going on? Very annoying, try and keep him not push him out the door!

in reply to: Paul Jewell #71245

Hi Harry,

It took Jewell time at our place also, he inherited a team full of time dead wood and players who were here for a big pay day. It took a little while to clear out these players and build his own side but once he did he never looked back,
He signed older players during his time with us also such as Graham Kavanagh and De Zeeuw who both proved to be wise signings and I think Bullard and Bowyer will prove to be the same.
He is defiantly not a master tactician so don’t expect any match changing subsitutions from him but he did a fantastic job for us and built a side in the second division that went on to still be the core of the side in the Premierleague. ( Filan Baines Bullard mculloch)
So I would say give him time!!

Yes.

Gordon Strachan hit the nail on the head before last nights game when he said the Prem and CL was eating up all the other competitions.

Its all very boring.
