Go. At this point, we have to assume we are going down, So the question becomes, is Joyce the right man to bring us back up? I just don’t think I’ve seen any evidence of that. In order for me to vote to keep Joyce, I’d have to be of the opinion that: 1) Our league position is more due to a lack of talent than management, and 2) Joyce’s predecessor/ownership is more to blame for that lack of talent than he is – essentially, that you have confidence in Joyce making transfer decisions this summer. Do we really want him at the helm for the decisions this summer, or are we better admitting the mistake and moving on – giving a new manager some competitive matches to judge what he has before the next transfer window? As much as the frequent turnover of managers (and players) does concern me, Joyce’s record & the team’s offensive performance has been so dismal, that I don’t think he can just turn it around/get the players confidence just by moving to League 1.
I will say this – part of our problem has been the whole sale roster changes. Maybe I’m mistaken; but, other teams who have been successful moving up (or after moving down) haven’t turned their roster over to the degree that we have. If you’re moving up a level, that should indicate that a certain number of the players who helped you do that are ready for the next level. I think the roster turnover is an indictment of our scouting and player evaluation over the past 4 years.
Think you’re bang on lobt. Mr Sharpe is also behind that problem, he seems to love the attention deadline transfer day brings. No way did we need so many transfers in the summer or January. It brings about instability… if you want to build a future you’ve got to be methodical and strengthen only where you really need it.
Sharpe has a slight problem there, a 3-1/2 year deal.
Is Joyce an ex market trader ?, cause he must have bent Sharpes ears with magical bulls””t in his interview.Got to say, in all my years this has got to be about the worse player and manager tactics combination I have ever had to sit through.
For me, some of the players are not good enough, I mean Hanson’s header back near the end can be seen replayed tomorrow on any Sunday pub league pitch.
Perkins back pass free kick when the box was fully loaded is not Joyce decision its a clueless Perkins.
Do the right thing Sharpe,
Use some of the Yanic money and pay this guy off and let’s move on and call it a hard lesson learned giving someone a managers job with very little managerial experience, next time don’t get your wires crossed:-Managers and coaches are not one of the same.
Said the same coming home… I can’t ever recall seeing us being so devoid of anything football related at home for so long a period. Really was hoping for a turn of performance today after Tuesdays first half.
Not to defend WJ, but there was so much wrong about their goal. Officials today were worse than us.
I don’t like continually changing managers but for me he can go. It works away from home but today his tac tics made Bristol city look a far better team than us.. we didn’t play any good football today.
Some of the players should carry some blame. I know the manager picks em, but boggle frustrates me he’s always offside. Jacobs is terrible!Ronald is injured. Not related to Colclough at all Eggy but I just thought it could be a possitive move to get one of our own attacking midfielders on the park after all not much else as worked this season. He’s in contention from what WJ said yesterday donny.
That midfield was get overrun imo, you’d need macdonald or Hanson in it (minus Griggs).
We might buy him back in the summer for a reduced price. I’d have him back.
Didn’t score a goal at home all of February ( a record ?) so why are they suddenly going to bash two in?
Without a significant sea change in the attitude of our manager towards attacking football then at best it will finish goalless again at worst I can see those two strikers having a field day.
0-0
0-2 if it goes wrongIf he at last goes for it (some hopes ) then maybe a fantastic 2-0 win for tics
Not getting carried awayFair point and my prediction does seem unlikely on current home form. But injuries and suspensions have forced WJ to play with wingers. Love macdonald but in a way hope he doesn’t start as we’ll probably start with same as Birmingham. That’s what I’ve based my prediction on.
The highlights come from SkyThe BC TV comment was tongue in cheek Egg.
A new turning point?
Perhaps and hopefully.
I think we are a better away team than home, our defensive style is more suited to away, but by god it’s boring.
Didn’t get to Birmingham so would be interested to know the tactics employed. Wish radio seemed to be saying first half we were more attck minded than usual.First half was good, very attack minded, created chances & got some crosses into the box. Bogle is wasted out wide though?
Second half more of what we are used to watching, very deep. Birmingham were crap though.
We are dire at home so I’m guessing we’ll let ourselves down (again!) and get a draw. They must have borrowed them highlights from Birmingham City TV its got all their attempts on it but none of ours apart from goal.
to be fair, there weren’t many shots on target in the second half anyway.Good first half, deep and nervous in the second but great 3 points. Birmingham were rubbish ref was even worse. Even brum fans were calling him.
Two centre backs were terrific again, solid back four. Gilbey looks good but not match fit, missed him!We were creating chances and looking like a team. More of the same and we just might stay up.
I’d have him over any of the mega rich foreign owners.
Regardless of what league we are in.
I know what you mean, it would be horrible to have a Billionaire owner and to be in the PL fighting for qualification to the Champions League every season, watching world class players in a packed stadium.
I’d much rather be strapped for cash watching inept performances week in week out and fighting off relegation to League One.
It really is the stuff of dreams at the moment, Chelsea, Man U, Spurs and Arsenal etc just don’t know what they are missing and would surely swap places with us and visit places like Crawley every other week.
Sarcastic tw*t!
What do you expect coming out with shit like that. Its like saying you’d rather have a fat ugly wife instead of a stunner, or live in a doorway instead of a mansion.
I’ve nothing against Mr Sharpe, but if a billionaire came to him with an open cheque book I would hope he would have the sense to snatch their hand off and go.
It ain’t going to happen, but I know what I would rather have.
Let me put it this way, with exception of the first season in the prem where any of the other seasons in the top flight as enjoyable as last season.
There were a couple of seasons I can think were better than the last. As far as league goes anyway. Bruce had us a really boring season, finishing mid table was totally boring. Bob gave us 10 good games a season, made for an exciting season finally.
Interesting you mention the Venky’s in relation to foreign owners. City’s owners don’t seem too bad, nor Chelsea.
British owners would be the preferred but not all foreign are rubbish. Depends on the owners intention really.Whatever happened to Bruce?
He came to the club recovering from an injury, whoever made the decision to take him on wants sacking. I don’t know any employer who would employ someone he who is ill or injured
How do you know that CW.. If true couldn’t agree more, would sort of back up what I think of how this club is being run at the moment.
I’d have him over any of the mega rich foreign owners.Regardless of what league we are in.
Are you sure?
Understood, surprising really seeing as WJ is so defence minded that he never has another central defender on the bench.
