Thoughts on the new England captain? Is it a permanent thing or just for tonight’s game?
Personally I’m not sure why Gerrard always get overlooked.
Rooney has a good engine on him and has undoubted quality. He was a class above most of our other players on Friday. But captain? not for me..
Gerrard is past his best, he gives too many passes away. But he is inspirational.
Gary Cahill for me, he’s looking better every time i see him (since he’s gone to a good team :) ), good defender who can pop up with a goal every now en again…
And the annoying thing is we know we can play that way.[/quote]
Well the formation was tinkered with and we did better than i expected (going off the last home game anyhow).
More of the same Bob…..If he ever said that then he wouldn’t be a true tic in the making…
To be fair he was playing against the best left sided attacking combo in the prem at the moment.Totally agree, Boyce was made to look his age in this match. But Bainsey is quality & 6 yrs younger. With all the effort Boyce gives he can still do a right back job but not a wing back roll. Hope Bob realises this, it would be criminal if Boyce is remembered for the wrong reasons.
Oops, thats probably cos i had to use two hands…
I’d love to be more positive but it depends on Martinez’s tac tics. If the team plays with a higher tempo and more attack minded then we will do better.
If not then we’ll be firmly embedded in another relegation fightSame as 1 – 3 me thinks, i cant see Bob making too many changes to the team either personnel or formation.
On the eternal optimistic side, 2 – 1 if he goes with Boseli & Kone from the start

Our points tally over 6 games for the last two seasons is virtually the same as this one. Think we’ll have more of an idea after 10 games if it’s going to be another long old season…..
On current form i can only see us picking up points in two of them gamesWithout sounding too negative, i’m gettin sick of watching 28 games of boring football a season. For the last two seasons Martinez has left it till the death before playing good attacking footy. It’s groundhog day again. why is he not carrying on with that fantastic style of footy we finished with last season. We should have beaten Chelsea last season & we beat man utd so i dont wear this.
Thought Gomes played ok yesterday. He picked out some good passes and was unlucky not to get on the score sheet…
22 September 2012 at 10:47 pm in reply to: Just got in from the poor excuse of a performance. #93541i’ve come home from that match pretty miffed as well. Martinez defo got his team selection & tactics wrong.
One up front…. against Fulham! we gifted them that game just like last season.
Caldwell was poor but i agree that Watson was the worst player by a mile today. was shocked when i heard his name on the team selection.
It resembled most of last season at times, too much side ways & backward passing with no or little idea up front.Quote – “Wigan have won none of their last 11 Premier League games against Fulham (W0 D6 L5)”
Bit of a bogey team for us, wont surprise me if we draw… or lose!
Browsed a couple of them mufc forums and i dont think any respect will be show…. that lot seem to have issues
If Victor is in the right frame of mind then i would deffo play him as his approach play is fantastic at times (lets not talk about in & around the 18yard box) and can make a difference.
We stand a chance of point with him palyingI take your point griff but bob is too cautious mostly. If he decides to remain positive then we can have a good season. But he seems to leave that positive mentality until the death and we end up packing all the excitement into the last ten games…
