I quite enjoy the arguments on here as usually it means we’ve won :)

My personal two pence worth is that realistically Cook, who I’m a massive fan of BTW,has probably taken us as far as he can do but that is nothing against his ability as a manager.

As a club we have to take gambles on players in order to compete in the top two divisions as we don’t have the money to buy “established” players. In the Prem we were signing nobodies from Honduras for pennies. Some worked, some didn’t. We signed players from Scotland in the same way. Nowadays we sign League 1 players that we hope can step up or Championship players who are possibly too old/injury prone. The fact is that if Jamal Lowe was a top player at this level he wouldn’t be here and similarly if Pilkington wasn’t injury prone he wouldn’t be here either.

Cook has shown that at times we can be superb, but at others (usually away) we can be dreadful. If the powers that be want to get rid then they have to be 100% that they have the man to replace him because as we showed with Coyle, Mackay and Joyce….it isn’t always as simple as sacking the manager.

We are a very small fish in this pond so for me, provided we can continue to be competitive it is tough to get rid.

Whilst you are basically spot on egg lad things can still change with tactics. I’m sure Lowe and Moore would show a lot more if they were playing a more attacking style like they would have albeit in league 1. I’m convinced it’s our negative approach to forward play as opposed to the squad quality that’s hindering us at present. I think we could be pleasantly surprised if Cookie was a bit more adventurous in our style.
We’ll not get many goals from Moore playing him like we do. There’s nobody playing off him and we don’t whip crosses in from either wing for him to get on the end of. He just ends up tussling with centre backs?
Lowe should play through the middle for me, utilise his pace.

Heard about that 43, believe the young Charlton scrotum got a punch for his antics..

On the match, Mulgrew, Byrne, Williams & Morsey were great, Dunkley mom for me, clean sheet & two goals…

Need some consistency now as some games they can look really good & others look like they’ve never played together before?

We made Charlton look ordinary today. We were much the better side, even though Bowyer whinged about a “game changing penalty decision”??

I’d argue that some Liverpool fans are exactly the same. All of the top clubs will have fans of the same ilk. I just have a disliking of all things scouse.

Who do we all want

Liverpool and Chelsea for me.

Liverpool coz it will piss Utd fans off big time

Chelsea because last time I was at the Emirates they ran out of pies and had the audacity to expect Wiganners to eat Vegetarian pies all they had left. C,Mon that amounts to treason so feck em.

Not really bothered about the Europa League one NL, both teams have been pretty poor at times.

Liverpool for the Champions League though as they’ve played some decent footy this season. But with Klopps record in finals i suspect Spurs will win.

I do agree it would be a bad move for Powell as he won’t get the patience and care we gave him. I’m not worried about him leaving tho as many have said, he’s too injury prone.
I would be sad to see Morsy go but he’s under contract so we’d at least get a decent fee for him.

If I could chose between Powell and Morsy, it would be Powell any day.7
Players like Morsy are 10 a penny at our level, Powell on the other hand is gifted and a potential match winner for every minute he is on the pitch.
We might not get 90 minutes week in week out, but he is the type of player we need and can be worth the entrance fee alone.
Opposite for me horc, Morsy would be a big miss. He does a lot of work in midfield that goes unnoticed.
Powell can go for me, tell me what match changing moments he did for us in his last ten games?
Young Sharpy fooked up big time not taking 10m from Brighton.
The word Judas springs to mind with Powell. He’s took the piss out of a club who’s looked after him like no other will..

Windass certainly hasn’t shone donny. Don’t think his heart is at the DW.

Not sure about Lopez haven’t seen enough of him. I can only recall seeing him once this season? Didn’t shine but can’t recall him doing too much wrong either?

Net spend is around 90m for Klopp egg. Figure you mention above is very similar to that of Jose’s total spend.
No comparison between the style of footy each of them play. Most utd fans I know are not sorry he’s gone.

This net spend argument of the Mousers is very subjective – last summer Klopp spent £161,550,000 & recouped £33,500,000 so his net spend alone last season was £128,050,000. From the stats I found online last summer Guardiola spent £63,720,000 & sold £70,050,000 of players so in the same period he had a net spend of -£6,330,000

Liverpool’s net spend in the whole time Klopp has been here are skewed by the fact that they got £142mill for 1 player which equates for half their total sales. I heard Scousers banging on last week on TalkSport that what Klopp has achieved was greater than Guardiola this season coz they’ve spent next to nothing compared to City, almost as if he’s had his team ripped apart in order to fund new signings but it simply isn’t true. The vast majority of the rest of their sales is also skewed by the fact that, at will, they seem to be able to rip off Crystal Pace & Bournemouth for their squad players (Benteke, Ibe, Solanke & Sakho) to the tune of a combined figure of almost £90mill. No-one they’ve sold since Klopp arrived other than Coutinho has been anything more than a squad player

Both are clearly great managers who are able to motivate their players to a hell of a level – in some respects, as much as I hate City I see what they did this season as a greater achievement than Liverpool (in the league) as aside from the obvious i.e. winning it, to be put under the pressure that they were by Liverpool & not to crack takes some doing
To look soley at the last twelve months spend of city and Liverpool is subjective in itself. And why are city in trouble with the football authorities?
All clubs buy and sell, it business. And a lot of clubs pay over the odds for some bang average players which isn’t the fault of the selling club?

I think this season showed that what Jose has done in the last two seasons winning trophies and finishing 2nd at Utd shows exactly how good he is.

As for Liverpool, yes they have a great coach but he has spent €442m why he has been at Liverpool so basically an average of £100m a year to get the squad he has and TBH he probably only has a squad of 14 or 15 players that are any good.
