My take on Sundays game…… I should point out Im only 50, so I still have a positive outlook on life unlike so many of the bitter sods that spread their poison around the ground and on the internet forums.
I think it could have been the best game of football at home we’ve seen for more than 12 months. Sure the defence was suspect at times, especially when we played ourselves into trouble. Having said that it is very hard for a centre half to cope with an on rushing forward when the ball to him is short or misdirected. If you look back on all the tic-tac that got us into problems, the pass to the defender was careless if not shocking. Barnett is not a ball playing centre half, but he brings other things to the team, it is up to us to not leave hime exposed.
On the whole we kept the ball well, we moved it around well, we were very creative at times. With a better choice of final ball we had the capability to win that game quite easily. I do know we rode our luck at times, but so did Doncaster. Grigg ran his blood to water, he will score us goals, if we have the composure to play the right ball. Composure and understanding will come with time playing together, this is a NEW team.
Bring on Wednesday evening, this team is well drilled, and i believe well coached, it just needs a little time to settle.
I await the abuse from the darkside. Enjoy your football, I know I do !!
I thought Blackburn Rovers were under a transfer embargo due to breaching FFP rules
You say 5 teams have done the same. I know one is Wolves, and I suspect Southampton are too, who are the others?
Its far too late to make any difference. He should have gone 6-7 weeks ago. Its like the club expected to beat Derby, and because we haven’t he’s been sacked. Pi$$ poor leadership.
I seem to remember Grant Holt as being, ineffective, lazy, overweight, and un-fit.
At the time we signed him, I thought he would be a great signing that would be capable of bagging 25 goals a season.
Unfortunately the reality was considerably grimmer.
I doubt he would have reached 7 goals by now.
Shock News !!
Spectators turn up for a team playing well, and having success.
Spectators walk away from team playing badly and getting battered.People work hard for their money and have the right to seek some value from what they spend
Be careful what you catch. Just look at what Mr Whelan caught last time he went fishing !
For the first 15 minutes we managed to build pressure, didn’t really create a killer opportunity, but we worked hard, and looked like a team with fight. If that had continued who knows how the game would have progressed. But we suddenly collapse, a single attack, and a thumping strike, and then the game is over, we just return to tripe (couldn’t resist)
Didn’t see any positives but clearly cup_winners managed a positive by staying out of the rain
The days of attractive passing football are long gone. We can hoof it up to our lone striker on any surface. Its the plan of a genius to have us playing football in such a style. We can loose on any surface. Consistency is everything
Or maybe an inexperienced midfield just needs decent coaching
Yet another good player made to feel welcome by the moaners and groaners at the DW. Can’t blame him for wanting away.
I believe in plenty of things, unicorns, dragons, mermaids, bigfoot, etc etc but I can’t believe that we won’t be starting off in League 1 in August. I really do wish i am wrong, and will be truly delighted to have egg on my face, but I don’t believe any more :( :( :(
Well he can’t do any worse that the current incumbent.
These performance keep getting worse, I didn’t think it was possible for a team to play worse than we did at home to Brentford, but we managed it by the proverbial country mile. We do seem to be gathering momentum negative momentum that is. With performances like that it won’t be long before we get caught by Blackpool.
