What a journey!Reading this thread reminded me of that little welsh winger we signed from Rhyl in the early 80’s.
Can’t think of his surname, but I’m sure Di scord a few goals for us before injury forced him to retire.

What a journey!Whatever.You can’t deny the stats……

What a journey!In their next three games Aston Villa play;
Home to Man City
Away to Reading
Home to QPRSo it’s true that next weekend, Wigan will be back in the bottom three – with an away game at Manchester City as their game in hand.
Wigan’s next three league games are;
Home to Newcastle
Home to Norwich
Away to QPRThree points or more will make a big difference.
Can’t see us picking up many points from now, until end of season. Can see Newcastle doing us, a draw V Norwich, and getting beat by QPR.
I think we’re going down….but I have done for a long time. Ah well.
For about 8 seasons now eh Dave ;)
Nope, I never expected us to go down in 2005.
Our second season we escaped with skin of our arseholes, third season we showed some promise, but faded after player sales. Fourth season we struggled….and have struggled more and more ever since.
Two reasons for this. We sell our best players and spend hardly anything on replacements. And we have a stubborn manager who is trying to play a set style of play with no plan B, and have done for past 4 seasons.
I HAVE expected us to go down over the last 3/4 seasons, with Martinez in charge. Each season we have got nearer and nearer to it and I think this season will be a season too far. I’m not arsed.
Martinez would’ve been sacked 2 seasons ago at the least, had he been at another club. Survives on his links to and history with the club.
Apart from the odd shock result, we have been SHITE under his management.
Awaits someone telling me I’m wrong. (I’m not)
Was you not at the Wolves game last match of last season smoking a big cigar wearing a smoking jacket and slippers?
Was you also not at the Brit the season before, going through 4 or 5 emotions a minute until the final whistle?
If you was, please explain why you think we have struggled more and more each year under Martinez?
I see that as progress and would love to be able to relax 2 or 3 matches from the end of this current season, lets see what happens and not throw dummies out the pram just yet, you do it every year man! :P
Last day survival isn’t progress. Progress would be finishing higher in the league.
Why do I think we have struggled more and more each year? To answer this, look at how many games we have won this season. Also, have a look at his record as manager and how many games we have actually WON with him in charge.
It’s abysmal. Neither you, Griff, Salford, Standish, or the Dalai fuckin Lama will convince me any different. Nice guy as manager, smart, articulate, but our record is shite. You can’t polish a turd…..
…yet you, JrFatfan and a few others, are absolutely caked. :cheer:
It’s shite and nice guy or not, I will be glad when we have a new manager.
There, I’ve said it.
I have no intention of making any attempts to change your mind, you have spouted the same message for the last 4 seasons, only to go quietly back to whence you came tail tucked between your shiny buttocks. Surely yer old enough to know now that you suffer from an acute case of premature ejacrelegation.
PS You can put as many words in capital letters as you want when coming back for your usual moan before meltdown, it won’t make um any louder in my ears I’m fekin deaf. :woohoo:

What a journey!…we in it Satday Reading play Villa. :(
But hey, ‘that’s progress’, as you say in the other thread……
Progress…..ha ha.
What position were we at this point last year?? progress ha, fekin ha, B)
Must try harder Dave. I suggest you read what I’ve put again and finally realise that it is..
19th May that counts!!

What a journey!I’m with TYLDS and BROWNBILL, here.In my opinion, if we play a fringe side at Goodison against their first choice eleven, we may well get slaughtered. (Go and happy clap that then)
Thank christ I’m not going and anybody who is forking out £30 for the priveledge needs their head testing. All that money to watch a fringe team take on a top 5 Premiership team….hhhhmmmmmmm.
It could end up being embarrassing, but if so, I will just turn the telly off. :cheer:
So I take it that you didn’t watch little Wigan when we was down in the doldrums looking to take a league teams scalp or a scalp from the teams playing leagues above us?
It’s what its all about this football supporting malarkey. We have proved year on year that we can’t beat Everton on their own middin with our strongest team on the pitch. [OK yes I was there when DF scored the winner and I think camara got us a win or a draw un awe]
I hope Bobby plays a decent mixture of senior and fringe players, but no matter what I’ll be behind my team Wigan Athletic. goodpost

What a journey! So one gobby kid starts mouthing off and you tar everyone with the same brush.??? goodpost
Just remember that it was the beer fes over the road, so some serious drinking had gone on pre match.
I saw some of the affected supporters and laughed it off. There will be no such happenings at the barcodes match.
Mountain out of a mole hill Dave. B)
I noticed you mentioned “I hope we go down” again in your post. How many more reasons are you going to come with? Its the gobby kids now and how do you know they haven’t been watching the tics since they were tots, or more importantly, won’t be watching the tics if we get relegated? :P

Funny that, when I look at the table it tells me we are exactly where we aim to be.

This is almost as bad as trying to convince the chubsters that we get better crowds than they do.
I’ll write this nice and slow so the D/S can perhaps understand it a bit better.

What a journey! Not far out fat fella but not sure what habsi could have done with all the goals yesterday, free kick possibly but you could argue he did well to get a hand on it after the deflection. My post was not just aimed at yesterday’s performance, it was taking into account a lot of the games this season.
As for Ali Habsi he has been awful this season, yes he can pull a great save off, but that is to be expected from any premiership goalie. His positional play is poor, he doesn’t have the confidence to come off his line for crosses and his distribution, well lets just say it needs improving.
The Suarez free kick yesterday was a good example of his poor positional play. When he has lined the wall up to protect he’s right hand half of the goal, he just has to look after the couple of yards to his left. If the ball is hit over the wall with pace and dip to go in, just hold your hands up and say great strike. But no, just as Suarez hits the ball he takes a step to his right, takes a little slip and is then stretching to deal with a ball he should have dove and dropped on. Deflection or no deflection, it was just a couple of yards not the full length of goal he was protecting. He managed a clean sheet against Reading, but that was because he had nothing to really trouble him for 90 mins.
The same with McCarthy, he has been well below par for the last few months. Even during the win at Reading nobody really noticed what his contribution was and basically it was hardly anything.
He typifies a player who has got a name for himself and suddenly he is johnny big balls. How many times does he play a stray pass when its just a simple ten yarder? He hit about 3 or 4 passes last night straight into touch about 15 yards from it’s intended target.
Straight from the kick off in the second half right in front of were I sit, he ran and beat a Liverpool player to the ball only to back heel it straight to their player. At 3-0 down the show boating stuff should be put away for another game.I didn’t expect to win yesterday and had already written it off before the kick off. Liverpool are a team in form and Suarez is unplayable at the moment. I just knew he would give our defenders the run around, he’s done it to world class defenders so he’ll do it to ours.
I still believe we will beat the drop again this season, but there are a few changes needed in order to do it.

What a journey!1. Whether our manager is any good or not, he is trying to play tactics that the players cannot do at this level and gain points (look at the table)
2. He is trying to play highly technical, skilfull football with players who cannot win games doing that type of play
3. Playing every free kick as a short ball instead of putting some or most into the box reduces the chance of scoring (look at the table)
4. Every team we play already knows what we will do before we even take our training tops off
5. We need points at the moment and the current way of playing with the current squad has shown so far this season that you don’t get many points with that combination
6. Stop pretending we are Barca (or even Swansea) because we are not, we will go down and Bobby will take his principles elsewhere as we plummet
7. We can play pretty football with a less than capable squad and get relegated or change and try to do something that will give a chance of survival in the Prem
8. Getting rid of Dave Jones shows what type of footballer Bobby likes, he would rather relegate Wigan than compromise his footballing principles
9. This shows Bobby is more interested in Bobby than in Wigan Athletic
10. There is no Fact 10Having listed all those negatives we are not in a relegation position. [look at the table] B)

What a journey!Second half was good, I was bored first half to be honest.Best game in 10 years?I’ve seen 5 better games involving Latics in 8 years
Games involving your own club will stand out more, but tonight being a neutral, I thought it was a superb game, with 2 teams going at it for 90 mins.
Great advert for the EPL for everyone watching and West Ham could be dragged into it if they lose the next 3 or 4 games. :woohoo:
