Just watched the West Ham Liverpool game.WHU players are faster, fitter, up for it more, tactically better, etc. I know a lot of people don’t like Scott Parker but he gives 100% effort every time he plays. I wish we had half a dozen like him.
Martinez has said all along that “he will take us to the next level” Well Bob that’s one thing you have got right this season. As for people on here saying we will have a decent Championship side!!! How many of today’s squad will be here next season?
In all honesty I can see us doing a Bradford City.
Thanks Bob, in your two year tenure you’ve ruined 10 years of hard work. The words premature ejaculation sprung to mind when I read this post. Or perhaps knee jerk, chickens before they hatch etc. etc. Theres hell of a long way to go yet sunshine.
The way you described West Ham today could have also applied to our performance at Anfield and for 60 mins yesterday. Did you see that same Wet Spam team play at West Brom the other week. Great comeback but should have been 7 downs at HT. They are no better than us, neither are Blackpool, West Brom, Wolves, Birmingham, Fulham, Blackburn, Stoke and maybe 2 or 3 others. The fat lady may sing but not till May.If some of you want to throw the towel in now, that’s your prerogative, but I have seen enough in the last 4-5 matches that still gives me hope that we will get out of this shytehole. :snooty:

What a journey! For what its worth I thought Watson was by far our best player yesterday. OK a couple of bad corners as usual but he did try and address that by taking some short ones to the Zog. I lost count of the times he outwitted Paul Scholes only to find that not one blue shirt was in a position to receive the ball.
I totally agree that this indeed was one of BW’s best game for the tics along with the infamous Arsenal game last season. :clap:The white jacket should be presented to the person who even mentioned Hendry Thomas’s name in a positive way. That guy changes the whole shape of our team. Whilst being an OK at best defensive midfielder, he doesn’t know the meaning of forward pass. Perhaps he should get down to the DW today and listen to what the chubbies will be shouting every 5 mins in addition to offseed ref! :snooty:

What a journey!Come on Parbold, Moses was on his last legs!!.
He ran himself into the ground first half and his legs just went after 65 mins.Nothing at all to do with Bobby’s tactics. :hand:

What a journey!1-4 utdwhat with the right wing faction of staam/boyce, the chuckle brothers holding the centre ground and the sandinistas operating where they always do on the ‘left’ , i cant see any other scoreline.
Agree, just like what happened at Anfield hey? :shhh:

What a journey!Only at Wigan Athletic would the both the club and the supporter’s club be roundly criticised for moving back into an excellent facility within the stadium. If there were premier league points awarded for gratuitous fan criticism this club would be challenging for the Champions League.
Fair play to you for getting back into the stadium. Personally, I’ll be staying in the Brick :obscene-drinkingcheers:
I think you’ve totally missed the point Griff. Nothing to do with the fantastic facility afforded by the Club, more about the reasons why we have not been in there for the past 5 seasons. :snooty:

What a journey!jrfatfan – I know you will know better than most how much benefit the Supporters Club was for the Sports Centre. But the last couple of seasons especially have been hard and sometimes tense.I won’t go into too much detail, but in the first six home games we had use of that room twice, the PA System is not the best, but the service and such we received was exceptional.
The decision we made to move was a hard one, but it has been made (as it was made when we moved over there) and we stand by it being the right move for the Suporters of Wigan Athletic.
Don’t get me wrong, I hope the marriage is a successful one and although I drive to most home games now, I will bob in for the odd pint when the weather improves and it becomes a canal towpath venture rather than a cosy warm car ride.
Just bugs me to think that our supporters club and supporters, may have been victim of this hungry money making machine that is, the English Premier League. :snooty:From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!Do they have proper glasses in there ? Is it spacious and whats the service like at the bar ?
We are being told that beer prices will be similar if not the same as what you would pay in a bar around the ground, there will also be a bottle/can bar on as well, again at similar prices to what the bars around the ground are paying.
The food will be more varied and obviously it will be more comfortable and more importantly give us control back.[/quote]
Just an observation like, why put a quote from Filmoss and then not directly answer any of the three questions he asked.
From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!Filmoss, apart from the re-decoration and allowing for 5 years of price increases I would think it would be exactly the same as pre-premiership days.As for the sports hall, hardly anybody goes in there nowadays beacuse it’s such a spartan and soulless plaece. I heard somebody call it Tenko once and I can understand why. I would imagine the manageress has done very well thanks out of 5 years of the supporters club, and as far as I know it will still be open, so I don’t think it’s a sob story. And if I remember right I used to go in the South Stand in my scruffs so although it’s smart inside I doubt you’ll have to get dressed up to go in.
I’ll reply even though you obviously responded to Filmoss by mistake.
My point is that for some reason WASC either left the JJB, or was kicked out, or wanted to leave, or was victim of the club getting too big for their premiership boots etc. etc.
When this happened I thought, what a right old carry on, the supporters club being allowed to leave the stadium and go across the road to do their pre match socialising. My understanding was that the Tetley lounge became part of the corporate set up or the new blue chip lounge or summut and therefore the WASC were indeed deemed to be surplus to requirements. As I say I might be way off the mark, but what I do know is that the old Tetley lounge is now almost empty on match days and perhaps hosting the WASC is now looking a better option for the club than the corporate milarky, which has died on its a_rse.
I never once indicated that you needed to dress up to go into this lounge, I went in there before every home game in my jeans, trainers and replica top and so did most others. What I meant was that the pre match drink, in my view, is best downed in less plush surroundings and so do many others, that’s one reason you’ll find the likes of the Brick bursting at the seams on match days.
The sports hall, as you say, is not the best place for the supporters club to host their pre match banter, its cold looking and uninviting, but as I said, they came to the rescue when something went wrong several years ago.PS for your info, the manageress as you call her, will get the same wage whether the place has 1 or 10,000 in. However, Wigan Leisure & Culture Trust will lose some much needed income, at a time when they are already being hammered by the governments recent spending review cuts. :teasing-blah:

What a journey!Don’t know the complete story, but the very fact that the WASC moved out of the then JJB Stadium in the first place, tells me they should never have even contemplated going back.
Its on par with a load of bikers going into the Hilton Hotel for an overnight stay.
Why pay for overpriced ale in plush surroundings[not for jeans and scruffs] whilst being constantly watched by jumped up bouncers in green jackets. :roll:Just give a thought for Cath, Mary and gang who took in that lonely lost and beaten dog only to be shat on when its cruel owner come calling. :x
Like I said I don’t know the full story and therefore await a quick retort from jayt and gang. :angry-argument:

What a journey!Media darlings it will soon wear off wont it?
Our replacements as the most hated PL club(QPR also contenders with their tin pot stadium) next season if things go against us just wait and see.
Likeable little club with nice fans i met a long termer(not many of them there last night either) of theirs on monday and he was very respectful towards Wigan. They also despise Norrrrrrrrrth End so fair play to them.
They rode their luck last night and deserve the result which will certainly mean they retain the status next season against all the odds. All together now in the words of the pundits/players-
“THEY WILL BE FINE” (copyright any relegation battler)
After watching that last night they are still my favourites to go down. Charlie Adams banned for next 2 games, I don’t think they’ll get more than 36 points. :text-goodpost:

If the capacity was 125,000 they would still have only had 16,069 on.

What a journey! Not sure of capacity but seemed plenty of empty seats knocking about the place. I didn’t see much difference between the game we got stuffed 9-1 and that tonight. Spurs however squandered 9-10 chances against the pool and missed fek aw against us.
