something about a manager that wears shorts does not seem to work
Totally agree. Said it many times a manager should look like one and wear a suit.
A manager who stands there on a freezing day in shorts looks like an ex player who wishes he still was playing and is struggling to make the switch to being a “manager”.
It’s a shame really because Yootha would make an excellent first team coach somewhere big (back to ManUre?) wearing his shorts working on the training ground every day with the players, but leaving the in match decisions to someone else.
Let me get this right then. With six minutes left of our must win game he takes our main attacking threat off to save him from fatigue?Yep bet those extra six minutes would have feckin killed him
In fairness Bogle did pick up a couple of knocks, but he looked ok when he went off.
First week for a while we don’t have a mid week game.
Yet more proof Yootha is more interested in not losing than in winning. Yet in the programme he said we had 13 cup finals to go. Can someone please remind him on Wednesday (if he’s still here) that he can’t win these games on penalties :woohoo:
Joyce OUT
Not too early to say it
In the worst traditions of the original Yootha, I poured myself a stiff glass of wine the moment I got in.
What a pile of old f***y that was.
Simply got to beat Blackburn and Bristol C or it’s back to Southend next season.
Bogle off Grigg on when we need a win. No wonder the audience booed. Ok he’d picked up a couple of knocks but he could still walk….
Yootha’s in for a rough ride on Wednesday. And whose idea was it to water the pitch during the interval…it was pouring down 10 min later :S
It’s been raining a lot this morning in Leyland (still is..) so if it’s been like that at the ground we can expect a quagmire, thugby or not.
Here’s the forecast for today
http://www.theweatheroutlook.com/forecast/7day/WN1
You’ll need your big coat
Attack, Attack, Attack, Attack, fookin Attack :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:Sounds like a plan ;)
Seriously though, I’d sooner we did that and lost 3-2 than set up for a draw again and lose 1-0 to another fluke goal/poor ref decision/unlucky bounce….(Yootha to delete as he sees fit)
What happened to all the wonder kids Yootha was supposed to be bringing in from ManUre?
Not seen it but apparantly Billy Mckay scored a good one tonight. Must admit I had to look it up to confirm he is still on our books.
Gentlemen the damage is done over the summer months. With rest and maintenance in the summer the surface would be superb throughout the winter and even less pitch renovation work would be needed in the spring.
Playing two friendlies in two days against Man Utd & Liverpool wouldn’t have helped then.[/quote]
We should have played Southport instead for the sake of the pitch.
They could even have brought some spare sand with them B)
Lodgers postpone their match to keep the pitch better.
Results couldn’t have gone better tonight.
We play a poor team tomorrow.
We are at home tomorrow.
So play to win. They’re 6 points ahead of us from the same games played…so that makes us? :S
I know what you’re saying though Donny…home game, got to go all guns blazing for a win. Well, you or I would, Yootha on the other hand
There were extra beer kiosks half way down the stand by the W5 entrance for the Preston game.
Very hard in this division to predict at this stage where the safety line will be.
I reckon 50 points. It could be a bit less but I think that’s optimistic.
QPR’s gone, so out of Forest, Blackburn and Bristol C I think we simply must get a minimum of 6 points. Especially if Burton beat Blackburn on Friday….
If Yootha isn’t panicking yet, perhaps he dosn’t realise how bad the situation now is
Looking at the fixtures, after the Bristol C game, with the exception of Rotherham at home, it’s hard to see another win the way we are the moment.
Could be bad news for us this. If Blackburn get those 2 or 3 results that new bosses normally generate then we could find ourselves behind the 8-ball. Especially if Joyce carries on playing for a draw every week.Agreed it’s likely to be bad news for us. I fancy Burton to go down so Blackburn (and may Bristol City if they lose on Weds) are the main threat.
No doubt Blackburn fans will be glad to see the back of Coyle. His tactical prowess makes Steve Kean look like Bill Shankly…well not quite
I agree. We have no width and no variety. We must have a dozen midfielders of the same type. Final ball is shocking. Why no Obertan today?Probably because we didn’t have a game today…
Sorry Rolo..just a bit irritated tonight can’t think why
I don’t disagree though we need to be far more attacking…get the ball in the box enough times and see what happens
As ever at this stage of the season very difficult to say how many points are needed for safety. Peterborough went down with 54 that season when the bottom half was very close.
Unless Rotherham pull off a miracle, I reckon 45 could do it, but must aim for 50 min.
20 points from 14 games even Yootha will realise a draw a game isn’t enough. 5 or 6 wins minimum…can we get these?
qpr – draw
FOREST – win
blackburn – draw
birmingham – draw
BRISTOL C – win
VILLA – lose
newcastle – lose
ipswich – lose – Joyce removed “by mutual consent”
ROTHERHAM – win
BARNSLEY – lose
brighton – lose
CARDIFF – win
reading – draw
LEEDS – drawThat’s another 14 points to give 44. Probably just relegated, but who knows? :woohoo:
I’d just settle for it tasting like lager. On concourse now. Still Carling still £3.60 staff wearing Latics caps (a Yank thing)….
Also some portable ale servers in the middle of the concourse (Springfield) should reduce the queue at the interval!!
Oh and the Old Bill are everywhere lol
