We have a plan for building a successful team which obviously includes recruiting young, hungry, talented players within a sensible wage structure. It is working wonderfully well at the moment and the plan shouldn’t be altered to accommodate Jordi Gomez who struggles to meet any of the above criteria.
I was never one of the “boo boys” but neither do I think that he is good enough to replace any of our current players.
I have always been really happy with our progress but had a niggling doubt about Gary Caldwell’s managerial skills. I always thought he was the right man for the job but suspected that it would take another season to grow into the job. I thought we had been “found out” after watching the Burton game and we were too predictable when facing experienced managers.
After Saturday, I am deliriously happy to have been proved wrong. The formation and tactics were top drawer, showing that he is learning at a great rate of knots.
Well I never! I actually agree with you owd chap, well put man!
Steady there Phil; you’ll fall off thi ladder !
Being laid for the Oldham game nought wrong with the old one after Fri meet.It should be followed by a Chubsters out campaign
And from another “out of town” Latics Mon:
Brilliant; I would have settled for a draw before the game; so tonight I’m ecstatic and going to murder that Rioja ( in honour of Bobby, of course ).
Got to say; it’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas !Young Mr Sharpe allegedly doesn’t have the same affection for the peanut huggers that his grand papa has.
Perhaps when Big Dave eventually ends up in some exclusive care home in Barbados, with bodily fluids erupting from every orifice, Big Dave the Younger, may fire the tworts off. :cheer:As soon as Dave goes to that big Wembley in the sky, we should start a “cuckoos out” campaign and get rid of the fat chubby egg barstewards ( que: Horc & Donny . I’m sure that young Sharpy will listen to his beloved Latics fans.
Good post JR; I must say that you always speak a lot of sense !
What a superb performance. A big well done to Gary and the lads who put on a display of good positive football in terrible conditions on a shite pitch.
Things looked good on both flanks but midfield, defence and Will Grigg the striker performed brilliant. How good is Chris McCann looking? Wabara too looks like he has been there all season and made the right side look strong at last. Both the other two new lads slotted right in and with the pace of Yanic there are going to be many more three nil wins. Chuffed as a butty with today. Power and Perkins both great too.
Hopefully tear Sheffield apart next week.Is that the real Donny; what no negatives !
We could have had nine today; lost count the number of times that Janic waltzed past their fullback. Keep it up the Tics !Best performance of the season today, I can’t find one thing to whinge about after that.
And a Will Grigg hat trick too.Sorry Horc, but I can: the first goal should have been credited to Janic – they did me out of £110 booty !
Absolutely outstanding performance today against a side pushing for the play offs.
Some of the football played was from a higher level and have a feeling they could blitz this league from now on.
Btw what the effing hell where that bunch of vale clowns doing being escorted through the home sections shortly after kick off ?
Coukd have been nasty anyone know why they got in to the home end? They were the Pepper Boys.
Donny & Horc will know who we mean !Morsy takes the No. 50 shirt, is that our highest ever squad number? Not sure.
Is that now the least time a squad number has been held by a player, being that Morsy has swapped to the number 8 shirt?
Add to that, the fact he never wore that number in a competitive game; it makes a great Latics trivia question.
Latest one:
Sam Morsy Vs Adam from Emmerdale
Superb. .Colclough now officially wigan player
You fekin beauty!!!!!!!! :cheer:
Well chuffed with them two signings ( Cowie must be further down the pecking order now ). This is beginning to feel good, because normally we dick about until 23:00 hours on the last day of the transfer window; then claim to have lost out at the last moment. So now 3 of our targets in the bag, with time to spare. :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:
Morsy has signed; apparently ;) ;) ;)He signed on the Dotted line and Dashed off to training.
See what I did there !
Morsy has signed; apparently ;) ;) ;)
I said at the start of the season that 3 points at home and a point away will see us promoted so in that sense you’d have to be happy.Yes on paper we should have won the game and it was disappointing not to turn our dominance into more goals, but has as already been said this season sides will up their game more against us than anyone else because we have the biggest budget in the league.
My biggest disappointment though is that with Burton losing and Walsall drawing we lost a chance to close the gap to just 3 points between us and the top two. We need to get into that top two and then I think once we do we won’t come out.
Can’t disagree with that summary, Mr Egg,
There’s only Burton who are hitting the citeria of 3 points at home / 1 away; but maybe they are about to get the jitters. -
